We would like to invite you to join us at the ranch, located west of Brewster, NE, where we will be offering 60 coming 2-year-old virgin Registered Angus Bulls and one welltrained male working dog. Arrive early to enjoy coffee and donuts while watching us pen the bulls. We will serve ribeye sandwiches for a lunch before the sale.
We would especially like to draw your attention to Lot 25. The proceeds from this bull will be donated to the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Ball, benefiting the Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha. This donation is made in honor of my wife of 36 years, Teresa, who courageously fought but lost her battle with ovarian cancer in August. You can read more about Lot 25 and this project on page 8.
At our operation, we take great pride in balancing environmental stewardship with raising high-quality cattle and making the two goals work together. The bulls have been developed on range and supplemented with cake only during dormant grass seasons.

First, let me say thank you for your interest in our program and welcome to our sale! One thing of difference, that I would like to point out this year is that this set of bulls is slightly younger than those of previous years. We have fully moved all our mature cows to an April 20th due date and the heifers to a March 25th due date. This decision has helped us better match our cows to our environment and hopefully the environment of most commercial ranches. Along with this change we also implemented a shorter breeding season for both the cows and the heifers. The cows are now bred for 50 days, and the heifers for 45 days. We believe that continually challenging our cattle to thrive on less is one of the best ways to help you, as producers, find a more profitable outcome for your operation. We believe that even with today’s extremely strong cattle markets, that fertility and the ability to survive in a low input operation, is key to the profitability of not only our ranch but yours as well. To that point, I would like to note that this set of bulls has only received 14 bales of hay in their entire life; that number is across this entire group of bulls.
As you look through this set of bulls you will notice that we are not chasing trends, numbers, or fads. We are offering bulls with predictable numbers, grown slow on native range and cake, that know how to travel the country, and get the cows bred. Our summer started out with good moisture but quickly turned dry, as I am sure many of you also experienced. These bulls rotated through the ranch on a regular basis throughout the summer and fall, so they are no strangers to long walks and big hills. This is as strong a set of bulls as we have ever offered for sale.

RETAINED INTEREST
Keyes Angus will retain a 1/3 semen interest in all bulls in this sale.
FIRST BREEDING SEASON GUARANTEE
All bulls selling for $3500 or more are guaranteed for the fist breeding season. A breeding season is defined as the 60-day period following the first turnout of the bull. If available a bull will be provided for the rest of the season. This bull may be purchased with your credit from injured bull, or you can use your credit at the next year’s sale. Your credit is the purchase price of the injured bull less salvage value. A Veterinarian must diagnose all injured bulls. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. This guarantee is not for before or after the 60-day breeding season.
ALL CLAIMS MUST BE MADE BY OCTOBER 15, 2025.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
The cattle will sell under the suggested terms and conditions adopted by the American Angus Association. Except for those stated in the terms and conditions, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold in this auction. The warranties and guarantee set forth in the “Terms and Conditions” are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer (or any party claiming through the buyer) or any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided and all other obligations available at the clerk’s office sale day.
LIABILTY
All persons attending this sale do so at their own risk and Keyes Angus assumes no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents which may occur.
HERD HEALTH
All cattle selling are on a complete health program and bulls are certified to be virgin bulls. The cattle have been vaccinated and dewormed. All bulls have tested negative for BVDpi.
SEMEN TEST
Every bull in the sale will have passed a Breeding Soundness Exam (BSE), but is guaranteed to pass before you turn him out. All bulls are guaranteed to be fertile. They were tested September of 2024.

We’re honored to offer Lot 25 on this year’s sale in a special way. The proceeds from the sale of this bull will be donated in honor of Teresa Sue Keyes–our wife, mom, dear friend and partner in Keyes Angus.
Teresa and I grew up just three miles apart on our family’s farms near Springfield, Nebraska and met at our 4-H club meetings when we were young. The county fair was a place we’d spend a lot of time together and eventually fall in love. We got married on June 25, 1988 and raised three wonderful daughters who blessed us with three dear sons-in-law and eight cherished grandchildren. Teresa was my anchor in every adventure I chased and together we built our farm and cattle operation to what it is today. She battled cancer in the last years of her life and passed away this past August with me and her family by her side. We miss her so much.
When I decided to make this donation from our sale, I knew that it needed to be a bull that represented Keyes Angus and our family. I also needed it to be somewhat random and since it’s 2025, 25 seemed to fit–even more fitting, we were married on the 25th 36 years ago.
As I looked through the bull pasture and picked the lead bulls of each sire group, this Justify X Royal Pride 0126 grandson–tattoo 3145–rose to the top. Both of his parents were born in 2019 which is the last year that our cows lived in Springfield, our hometown. The maternal grand-dam as a heifer was Reserve Angus at the Kansas City Royal (Don’t hold that against her… Frenchie was long-bodied, free-moving and loved the attention of the show ring.) for our youngest daughter Michelle. 3145 had to be the one. He fell right into place in Lot 25 for Teresa.
The proceeds from his sale will go to The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska. Each year they raise millions of dollars for cancer research and for the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha where Teresa received her treatments. Teresa and I enjoyed attending The Cattlemen’s Ball when our schedule allowed and had hoped to host one day. Thank you for your consideration of this worthy cause.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Cattlemen and Cattlewomen, Cowboys and Cowgirls, and everyone in between, meet Ringo, aka ‘Johnny Ringo’. He is a coming 3 year old grade Kelpie born March 15th, 2021. He is a stout built, red and tan dog with a big motor. Don’t let his intense demeanor fool ya, he is a sweetheart when he doesn’t have his work face on, and super great with kids especially if they are playing fetch with him. Ringo likes mad momma cows but he really shines with the calves and yearlings. He has a super good cast/gather to him! Especially loves it when there might be a few critters on the wrong side of the fence. Ringo is selling as a working dog but has the potential to make a super nice trial dog. This four legged, sharp tooth machine has been many miles on the Keyes Angus ranch, and other ranches along with the sale barn. This dog will make someone a valuable asset to the ranch or farm. Best thing about Ringo, he loves to work and won’t ever talk back and complain to you.
