The Plattsburg City Council met Monday, November 13, to tackle a lengthy agenda. Councilman Richard Stanley started the meeting by pointing out the dedication of the staff at city

hall, particularly Lisa Read, who was there to document the meeting despite it being her 25th wedding anniversary. The council then retreated into executive session. When they returned to regular session some time later, Mayor James Kennedy said

The Performing Arts Center at Plattsburg High School provided the venue for Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, to speak Tuesday, November 7, about the historic impact made by the players. Mr. Kendrick’s presentation covered a lot of history of the Negro Leagues, but more importantly, he explained the influence that the players had had on social issues, as well. “Our story is not about adversity—it’s about what we did to overcome the adversity,” Mr. Kendrick explained to the students, staff, and community members in attendance. “That’s the real story.
