onest Abe Log Homes can trace its roots as far back as three generations when Lemuel Smith ran a small sawmill to supplement the income on his family’s farm during the early 1940’s. Lemuel’s son, Doug Smith, decided to continue the family tradition by starting his own mill after a short stint as a mechanical engineer in the early 1970’s. The operation quickly expanded into an array of woodrelated companies including a pallet operation, a mulch company and a hardwoods distribution center.

When it comes to manufacturing our log home packages, here are some facts worth considering: • True Manufacturer of Log Homes : Our manufacturing facility is located in Moss, Tennessee, the site of our national headquarters. It’s 100% owned and operated by Honest Abe Log Homes.

• Sizeable Inventory of Logs: On average, Honest Abe stores enough inventory of logs and timbers to manufacturer 9 months worth of log homes. We don’t buy your logs when you place the order. We’ve had them for some time, caring for and preparing them for when they are needed.

• Kiln Dried & Graded Eastern White Pine and Douglas Fir: These species combine unmatched strength and stability at a great value.

While other wood species are used, these two make up the bulk of our log home’s structural components.

• An Open Door Policy: We welcome visitors and encourage it. Don’t make a choice this important without seeing our facilities!
