This book honors the Korean tradition, Miyeok Guk, a seaweed soup traditionally eaten on birthdays or after new moms give birth to replenish nutrients. This year, Maia, gets to help prepare Miyeok Guk. she wants to serve it at her birthday party but wonders if her guests would rather have pizza and cupcakes instead. A great blending of cultures and the importance of food and family recipes, this one is a sweet read!

Talk about the importance of sharing in this modern classic! Omu is cooking up a yummy stew for herself. The delightful smell wafts out her window and attracts many of her neighbors to try a bite. Omu does not mind sharing but what happens when there is no stew left for her. This book features a fun collage illustration style and a great reminder of kindness and giving back to others.
