Kathleen “Kathy” J. Kiley

Kathleen “Kathy” J. Kiley, 58 yearoldresident of Upsala, MN, passed away from natural causes on Monday, August 24, 2020, in the comfort of her home. A memorial gathering was held Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls,MN.

Kathy was born on January 22, 1962, to the late Joseph and Dana Carter. Kathy lived life her way. She loved her children and adored her grandchildren with all her heart. Kathy traveled her whole life. She lovedto travel with herfriends on outlandish adventures across the U.S and Jamaica. Kathy was known for her incredibly witty attitude and her voice that could carry you home. A story was never told properly until Kathy told it. Always full of spirit and life she will always be remembered and never forgotten.

Kathy is survived by daughters, ElizaAnneCarter,SarahCarter;sons,ErikKileyand JaretKiley;step-daughter,JessicaKuhlmann; brother, Terry (Connie) Carter; sister, Darcy (Dan) Motschenbacher; grandchildren, Finn, Wednesday,and Jeremiah.

Kathy was preceeded in death by her mother and father, Dana and Joseph Carter; husband, Patrick Kiley; maternal grandparents, Vern and Kitty Carlson; paternalgrandparents,SigridandRoseCarter.

Annabelle Irene Pfaff

Annabelle Irene Pfaff passed away in the early hours ofAugust15, 2020 at Country Manor in Sartell, MN. Anabelle was an only child born to Harriet M. Sundem Schindler and Clarence T. Schindler in New Haven Township, Wisconsin on November 13, 1935. Her mother died in 1947 when Annabelle was only 11 years old. Her father remarried soon after to Viola Chatain. Annabelle made it to eighth grade before she quitschool to help supportherfamily.

On September 15, 1956, Annabelle was married to the fun loving Norman Reuban Pfaff at Swanville Lutheran Parsonage. Her time was divided between being a dutiful housewife, a loving mother to four children, and a diligent worker in the manufacturing field. She caredforherhusbandwho suffered frompoorhealth,especiallyinhis lateryears, until he passed on December 31, 2008 at the ageof72.Atthesametime,Annabellebattled with and survived breast cancer. Annabelle was a loving carefree spirit, friendly, and quick witted. Everyone was her favorite, at leastthat’swhatshetoldthemandthenwould smile and whisper “but don’t tell anyone.” Shewouldtellyouwheretogoandpointwith hermiddlefingerinpublic(duetothefactthat she had lost her pointer finger during birth). She was askilled crafter; crocheting,sewing, quilting, beading, and stitching were a few of her hobbies. She would color beautifully, picture after picture, for hours on end. She was also a Farkel fanatic, loved puzzles and was very proudwhenshescoredabingo win. Although she slowed down in herlateryears, her humor and love for life never faded. She was always up for an adventure and made friends wherevershe went.

Survivors include her children. John Pfaff, Grey Eagle; Sandy Pfaff-Wolf, Cold Spring; and Jim (Phyllis) Pfaff, Motley; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her stepbrother Thomas (Sue) Schindler; and foster brother Milton (Sue) Johnson.

Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband Norman; son Randy: who died at 1 month on June 27, 1958; parents Harriet and Clarence; stepmother Viola; and stepbrother Jackie Schindler.

Henry (Hank) Wander

Henry A. Wander, 82, of Coon Rapids, formerly from Melrose, MN died peacefully Aug. 26, 2020 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice with his son and daughter by his side. Funeral service will be Sept. 10th at10:30 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church inCoonRapids,MN withvisitationanhour before services. Burial will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery inWard Springs.

Henry (Hank) Anthony Wander was born on a crisp autumn day on October 26, 1937 at home in Melrose, MN. He was raised with his eight siblings by Henry, Sr. and MaryWander.

In 1957 he graduated from Melrose High School where he was a memberofthe football team. He said his fondest memory ofhigh school was graduation. His first job out of high school was working at Cold Spring Granite Co.

In January of1958, he married Patricia Young whom he raised three children with. They spent twenty nine years together as a family until Pat’s death in June of1987.

He married Sherry Wallace in October of 1988 and they resided in Coon Rapids until her death in 2018. They had twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren between them. After 30 plus years in civil engineering, Hank retired. After retiring he spent a lot of time with family and traveling with Sherry. He also worked parttime forthe city ofAnoka, MN doing park security. He was a member of the national guard and a volunteer with the Coon Rapids fire department.

Henry is survived by his children: Cheryl (Dick) Seifert, Grey Eagle, MN; Rick Wander of Cokato, MN; and Julie Wander of Burnsville, MN. Brother Alquin Wander ofShreveport, LA. Step daughters: JulieAsuncion (Franklin), JackieAverback, Jamie Sandquist and Jill Sandquist. Twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; siblings, Marcella Nelson, Evelyn Notch, Loretta Kloeppner, Virgil Wander, Margaret Scheunemann, Roselyn Jonas and BonifaceWander.

Richard (Rick) Powers

Richard (Rick) Edwin Powers, 76, ofGreyEaglepassed away of natural causes onAugust30, 2020 at Getty Street Assisted Living in SaukCentre,MN. Rick was born on February 16, 1944 in Chelsea Massachusetts to Ed and Betty (Bromberg) Powers while Ed was stationed there during service in the Navy.

The family returned to Minneapolis where Rick was raised. He always enjoyed time at the family cabin on Big Birch Lake with family and friends. Rick married Carole Suchla in Minneapolis and togetherthey had two children, DavidandKaren.RickandCarolelaterdivorced. RickenjoyedspendingtimeonBigBirch,driving fast boats and snowmobiles and the thrill of running in the Winnipeg 500 Snowmobile Race. Inmorerecentyears hefoundjoyandcomfortin his affiliation with the members and faith ofthe SaukCentre Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and firstwife,Carole.

He is survived by his children, David Powers and Karen Stremick; grandchildren Justin (Becka) Powers and Maddux Stremick; brother Robert (Kathleen) Powers and sister, Sherry (Wayne) Kutter, his second wife, Shirley Thompson (divorced); lifelong family friends Peggy Neibling andBetty Brooking,as well as a niece and nephews.
