Build trust to build results -By Harvey Mackay On the first day his son joined the family firm, the founder took him on to the roof of the factory building and said, “I am going to give you your very first lesson in business. Stand on the edge of the roof.”

R e l u c t a n t l y, the boy went to stand on the edge of the roof.

“Now,” said his father, “when I say, jump, I want you to jump off the roof.”

“But, Dad,” said the boy, “that’s 10-feet down!”

“Do you want to succeed in business?”

“Yes, Dad.” “And you trust me, don’t you?”

“Yes, Dad.” “So do as I say and jump.”

The boy jumped. He crashed to the ground and lay there, winded and bruised.

His father ran up to him and said, “That was your first lesson in business, son. Never trust anyone.”

We would live in a sad world if we couldn’t trust anyone. But trust does take years to build, mere seconds to destroy and forever to repair. Trust is fragile. It’s easy to break, easy to lose and one of the most difficult things to ever get back.

David Horsager, who I consider THE trust expert, has written a follow-up book to his national bestseller “The Trust Edge.” The new book is called “Trusted Leader: 8 Pillars That Drive Results.” It’s every bit as good as

The book follows CEO Ethan Parker as he discovers the root issue in his company and a way to solve it, even amidst the complexities of leadership, change and culture transformation.

The plot unfolds as a true-to-life story of a senior leader who thought success was certain.

While his fast-growing organization had huge potential, Ethan faces a series of unexpected challenges which awaken him to a deeper gap in his business.

“Trusted Leader” offers a roadmap for how to become the most trusted in your industry with strategies to increase alignment, overcoming attrition and getting absolutely clear on executing top priorities.

The book then elaborates on the eight pillars of trust that are key attributes of successful leaders: clarity, compassion, character, competency, commitment, connection, contribution and consistency.

Building on theses eight pillars, Horsager explains that “trust will always increase effectiveness and create results in your organization.” I can surely attest to that from my own experience.

When you ask for a sale from a customer, they will judge whether your proposal is fair, meets their needs, and if you can be trusted to deliver what you promised. Mess up on one of those points, and you can assume that customer will have a hard time trusting you again. And perhaps even more damaging, that customer could share the experience with others who had considered doing business with you.

Think about how you choose vendors.

Have you given repeat business to someone who has broken your trust? Not likely – those transactions tend to be very expensive.

Management guru Peter Drucker said of trust: “In the ethics of interdependence there

are only obligations, and all obligations are mutual obligations. Harmony and trust – that is, interdependence – require that each side be obligated to provide what the other side needs to achieve its goals and to fulfill itself.”

“Obligated” is a pretty serious word – and it’s one that needs to be taken quite seriously.

When you couch it in those terms, trust assumes the huge responsibility that it is. Your word is everything, not just in business, but life in general.

Stephen Covey, author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People” said: “Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.”

“Everything of value is built on trust,” Horsager writes.

Take it from all these experts: Trust is more than just a word. In fact, in my opinion, trust is the most important word in business.

Horsager says the #1 question everyone asks about you is, “Can I trust you?” Never make your customers or colleagues feel like the little fellow who jumped off the roof. His father was wrong – you CAN trust people in business. Establish your reputation as someone who can be trusted.

Mackay’s Moral: Trust is a must or else you’ll go bust.

“The Good Old Days” -By Tom Kuehne Noise

is an unusual sound, it must be somebody taking a nighttime ride on their side-by-side.

Noise, noise, noise.

We sometimes feel that our world is changing and we have trouble making sense of it. Part of the new world is that it is much noisier than it was. The opportunity to step into it and hear absolute quiet is becoming more difficult every year. There was a time when one heard a noise on a winter night and could identify it and where it came from. Now there is a jumble of noise that fills your quiet time all of the time.

Sometimes we are able to ignore the noise, but whether we ignore it or not, it’s still there. We may not allow our minds to respond to the noise, but in the background it still exists. Extra noises do not necessarily cause us to be more relaxed, it is somewhat the opposite. For most of us it is much easier to relax when our world is quiet.

I guess that’s why when one goes to the chiropractor, the room is either totally quiet or if there is a noise, it is soft quiet sounds to make you relax. Other than the back-ache the only reason you go to the chiropractor is to hear the soothing music, right!

For those of you that were from the farm, you may have had the opportunity to cultivate corn or cut hay using horsepower.

There was a noise of the cultivator shovels clicking against small stones or the quiet click of the sickle moving back and forth to cut the hay. Other than that, the noise consisted of some various sounds the horses made, possibly a quiet squeak from the machine or the singing of the black birds and meadow larks. Today those jobs require noise that eliminates all other sounds.

I’m not sure that the noise of cultivating and cutting hay today has scared away the meadow larks, but they certainly have left the area. If I ever find one, I’ll ask her.

It’s about 50 years ago and you decided to take a little time for yourself by taking a little evening stroll outside.

It’s winter and as we remember, it’s really cold outside. We take a few steps on the driveway where the snow has been cleared away. It’s not just the cold that we readily notice, but we are somewhat surprised by hearing no sounds. It’s totally quiet. After a few minutes the silence is interrupted by a neighbor’s cow emitting single well-organized moo. That’s all. A couple minutes later there is a far-off coyote yelp, followed by a hoo-ho-hoo from that owl that lives in the back woods. Evidently one of the hens somehow disturbed her sleeping neighbor and caused her to protest with a loud squawk. For the next 15 minutes there is no sound, other than a few cracking noises from freezing of the trees. You surrender to your cold feet and go back in the house. That was refreshing and relaxing.

It’s 50 years later. You have a vague memory of going outside on a winter night and since you have become totally “used up” by those stupid TV commercials, you decide to take a stroll in the winter night.

It’s not quite as cold as it was years ago, but there is something totally different about this midnight stroll. It’s not quiet! There are a lot of noise. Even though your ability to hear is somewhat less than it was a few years back, you still notice the noise. There is a low quiet rumble from above, must be a jet somewhere up there. There is an almost constant sound of tires on pavement, along with a few engine noises from a road somewhere. There is also an occasional sound of an 18 wheeler traveling along that road a mile away. Was that a chainsaw, no not at night, it must be an ice auger. There

Gilbert R. Schmitz

Gilbert R. Schmitz, age 65 of Freeport, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the CentraCare Hospital in Melrose, Minnesota.

A private memorial service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis near Freeport, Minnesota. Rev. David Grundman will officiate. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Gilbert Robert Schmitz was born April 21, 1955 in Melrose, Minnesota to to Robert and Mayme (Tschida) Schmitz. He farmed all his life on the family farm in Krain Township. He enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling, throwing the ball for the dog, and building things out of metal and iron.

Gilbert was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in St. Francis Survivors include his sister and brothers, Irene “Reno” Schmitz, LeRoy Schmitz, and Isidore (Beverly) Schmitz all of Freeport; nephews and niece, Robin (Carrie) Schmitz of Freeport, Andrew (Tanya) Schmitz of Clear Lake, and Kelly Schmitz of Freeport; greatnieces, Alice and Cate Schmitz both of Freeport.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mayme Schmitz; and brother, John Schmitz on October 5, 2012.

Urn bearer will be Robin Schmitz.

Philip E. DuBois

Bend teaching and establishing winning records in Basketball and Football until 1955 when he moved to Sauk Centre, Mn to further his career.

There he taught History and Social Studies and coached Basketball, Football, Golf and Baseball.

He taught in the classroom from 1955-1984. But it was his genuine love for working with the kids and his fellow coaches that led him to continue to coach and substitute teach until his 85th year of life. Because of his genuine kindness and caring, he touched the lives of many and for this he will be fondly remembered.

Phil was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, the VFW and the American Legion all in Sauk Centre. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and working on the house, but his greatest passion was his love for his family, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Steve (Sandra) DuBois of Kasson, MN, Janna (Scott) Larson of Highmore, SD, Kelly (Vance) DuBoisGerchak of Moorhead, MN, and Jason (Julie) DuBois of Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Philip was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice DuBois, parents, and two brothers.

Serving as casket bearers were his grandsons, Isaac DuBois, Philip DuBois, Jarred Larson, Graham Larson, Alexander Gerchak, Tanner DuBois and Jessica Honza. Cross bearer was Alianna DuBois and scripture bearer was Hutton DuBois.

Philip E. DuBois, age 98 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday March 19th 2021 at Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 24 at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Jeremy Theis officiating. Interment was at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre with military honors by the Sauk Centre United Veterans Honor Guard.

Philip Edward DuBois was born September 2, 1922 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Raymond and Hulda (Hisley) DuBois. Throughout his youth, Phil was an active member of the Aurora Ski Club and participated in any and all sports.

He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII, based in the south Pacific for four years. He was honorably discharged on December 17th, 1945.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life Beatrice Nash on January 5, 1949 in Red Wing Minnesota. Phil started his coaching and teaching journey in Eagle Bend, MN in 1951 with his wife Beatrice at his side. He stayed in Eagle

Kevin A. Olmscheid, age 70 of Melrose, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, Minnesota.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, March 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Inurnment was in the parish cemetery.

Kevin Alfred Olmscheid was born April 25, 1950 in Madison, Minnesota to Alfred and Agnes (Wachmann) Olmscheid. He graduated from Melrose High School and furthered his education at St. Cloud Technical College.

He was united in marriage to Doris Wolter on August 20, 1977 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Kevin was member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose and a former volunteer firefighter for the Melrose Fire Department.

Rosemary Johnson

Rosemary Johnson was born February 25, 1925 at home in Pierz, MN. At age ten the family, now with five girls, moved to Melrose to open a general store. She lived most of her life in Melrose Rosemary passed away peacefully at home March 17, 2021 at age 96. She was wonderfully outgoing, warm, and loving toward her family and the people in her community. All of us knew a walk downtown with her would take forever because she would stop to talk with almost everyone she saw.

Many people initially knew Rosemary through the store she and her husband Johnnie owned. In 1958 they moved back to Melrose to take over the Hartmann’s Federated Store from her mother. It started as a general store but was destroyed by a fire in 1963. They rebuilt it as a women’s store and named it The Garland.

Rosemary was one of the original “personal shoppers” as is common these days in high end clothing stores. We remember her box of 5x7 cards, each one with sizes, preferred colors, and other information for many women in the community. When going to Minneapolis to shop for the store many women wanted her to shop for them. Her client’s husbands knew they could always call Rosemary for help with birthday and holiday gifts. For many years she hosted a women’s fashion show which was one of Melrose’s most popular events of the year.

When the store burned down in 1963 much of the clothing survived but was smoke damaged. Many people in Melrose and the surrounding community came to the aid of Rosemary and Johnnie in many ways.

We remember many women taking piles of clothing home to wash and dry them to be sold to help finance the building of their new store.

Rosemary met her future husband Garland (Johnnie) Johnson when he worked for the Great Northern Railroad in Melrose. Rosemary and Johnnie married on August 7th 1947 and were together for 54 years. Johnnie would often say that Rosemary was the best thing to happen to him in his life.

A major force in Rosemary’s life was her relationship with God and the Catholic Church.

Many things in her life revolved around her faith including volunteer work when she retired. She loved playing her guitar at Sunday Mass for many years and for decades participated in a prayer line. Rosemary would always end her letters and cards with “God bless you.”

After Rosemary retired in 1986 she was very active as a volunteer in Melrose. She was outgoing and loved any activity that helped people. She really enjoyed her 15 years as a teacher’s aide at St. Mary’s Elementary School helping 1st graders learn to read. Often in the later years, former 1st graders, now as adults would say “Hi Mrs. Johnson,” and would want to stop and talk. For a couple decades through Faith in Action Rosemary used her car, weekly, to transport people to and from medical appointments and to pick up prescriptions.

She would also drive people to and from the Melrose Food Shelf. She received her 50-year pin from the American Legion and was active in the VFW as the leader of community service.

For many years she helped lead their largest annual fund raiser which was the production of up to 200 dozen colored Easter eggs to be sold.

Rosemary loved to tell jokes and tease people.

One of her favorite holidays was April Fools’ Day. She loved pulling a fast one over on someone and her favorite target was her husband Johnnie. He was always disgusted with himself when she would, again, trick him.

Rosemary loved any opportunity to get family and friends together. She had a huge heart and will be most remembered for her kindness and warmth.

It would do us all well to be as kind as Rosemary and to not judge others.

That does not mean she

didn’t have her own values, principals, and convictions, they were extraordinarily strong.

She just didn’t judge others who thought differently. She knew how to gush over others and it truly came from her heart.

One of the reasons Rosemary led a long and healthy life was her level of physical activity and exercise. In her sixties she learned to swim and dive. When she got nervous about her bicycle, she got a tricycle and she could often be seen peddling on the Wobegon Trail.

In later years as walking became hard, she put her walker in the basket of the tricycle, peddled to Coborn’s, used the walker to shop and then biked back home. Even into her nineties, a couple times a week she could be found at Snap Fitness working out. It was fun to look over and see this 90-year-old woman pumping the bicep machine.

Rosemary loved being outside in her many gardens and most summer days you could find her planting flowers or weeding.

Her favorite bird was the cardinal. She loved that cardinal. He would come to see her many days throughout the year and she would just marvel at how beautiful he was. She was still deadheading flowers from her electric scooter in the last summer of her life.

One of the hardest moments of Rosemary’s life was the loss of her daughter Bernadette at age 30. She was the youngest of her four children. Bernadette took a very active role in selecting and displaying merchandise for The Garland.

Rosemary started planning her funeral and life celebration over 15 years ago and was very thoughtful about all the details. Flowers, music, location, and everything else. There will be a visitation at Patton Schad Funeral Home in Melrose Friday evening, March 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The American Legion Auxiliary and Schanhaar-Otte VFW Auxiliary will pray at 8 PM immediately following with a rosary by the Christian Mothers on Friday.

There will also be one hour visitation at the Patton Schad Funeral Home prior to the service on Saturday, March 27th at 11:00 AM. Rev. Mindy Czycalla will officiate. Lunch will be served at the American Legion following the service. Interment will be Monday, March 29th at 11 AM at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

Instead of gifts or flowers please make donations to the Melrose Area Food Bank or St. Mary’s School.

Rosemary leaves behind her 3 children Chris Barron, Michael Johnson, and John Johnson, along with 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, husband Garland Johnson, daughter Bernadette Moore, and great grandson Eric Kleeberger.

Rosemary was a powerful force in the lives of her family.

Paul Albert Ampe

Paul Albert Ampe of Upsala, Minnesota died at his sister’s farmhouse near Swanville on March 19, 2021.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala, Minnesota with Rev. David Grundman officiating. Inurnment will be at later date at St. John’s Abbey Alumni and Friends Cemetery in Collegeville, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m.

Monday, March 29 and from 10 to 11 a.m.

Wednesday, March 31 at the church in Upsala.

Paul Ampe was born to Peter and Clara (Weisser) Ampe, the beloved youngest of four children. He grew up on a farm near Paynesville, Minnesota, a happy, quiet, studious boy who achieved in school and helped on the farm.

Early on he felt called to religious life, but after graduating from Saint John’s University, Paul attended the University of Minnesota to study languages and classics. He then took a year off to help his father on the farm before deciding to enter law school at William Mitchell in Saint Paul. He also completed a program in English as a second language at Hamline University. Paul opened a law practice in Albany, Minnesota, where he practiced for over 38 years.

Paul’s kind and respectful demeanor and fairness made him loved and respected by all.

His prodigious memory and profound intellect were impressive. He had a limitless knowledge of history, knew everybody and rarely forgot a name. An entertaining storyteller, he was careful to never identify the subject or betray a confidence.

Paul lived on a farm near Upsala, Minnesota, where he raised Scottish Highland cattle, horses and chickens and grew a large garden. He adored his dogs, Scout and Blue.

Paul loved classical music, studied and played the cello in the St. Francis Orchestra, sang in the Minnesota Center Chorale and for many years played in the Albany Area Community Band. Paul collected antiques, loved reading and enjoyed canoeing and camping in the Boundry Waters. He looked forward to a future walking the woods with his dogs, delighting in nature, and travel.

He was struck down unexpectedly by pancreatic cancer in November, 2020 and struggled with dignity and grace, always kind, patient and respectful of his caregivers. While ill, when a friend called or visited, he often asked, “How are you doing?” even though he was miserable. He suffered a painful death, with his strong faith as his support. He was only 68.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, brother-in-law Gregory Beckel, and nephew Peter, who died in December of Covid-19.

Left to mourn his loss are his brother, Peter (Donna) and sisters, Elizabeth Beckel and Marilyn (Robert Schestak), many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and his loyal secretary of many years, Diane Raden.

Well loved and respected by the community, Paul will live in our memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Vernon Pangrac

The Funeral Service for Vernon Joseph Pangrac, age 93 of Bowlus, was held Monday, March 22 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Upsala.

Vernon was born on December 6, 1927 to the late Joseph and Emma Pangrac and he grew up on a farm near Upsala.He graduated from Upsala High School with the class of 1945 and entered into the United States Navy soon after. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Holmen on September 18, 1948; they spent most of their married life farming near Upsala where they raised three children. Vernon loved farming and was able to plant and harvest his own crops for 71 years. He also enjoyed

Robert ‘Bob’ Hanauer

Robert Albert Hanauer, 86, of Albany, MN, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 22, 2021.

Robert, who went by “Bob,” was born in Albany on June 9, 1934, to Rosella (Sperl) Hanauer and Albert Hanauer. He attended Holy Family Elementary School and graduated from Albany High School. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. Upon discharge, he returned to Albany and married Lois Meyer of St. Anthony on July 28, 1962.

Together, they had 3 children; Nancy, Robert “Fezzy” and Lori. He worked as a mechanic in his family’s Pontiac-GMC dealership until 1988. The business continued on as Bob Hanauer Garage until his retirement in 1994.

Bob was a talented “maker of things.” He restored old cars, trucks and boats. He carved dozens of fish decoys and invented his own version of a tied fly that he used for ice fishing.

He could fix just about anything and had a couple workshops, one in his “shed” in the backyard and another in a tiny space in the house. In his workshops, everything had a place and everything was in its place.

Bob was also a lover of “toys,” especially motorcycles. Nothing gave him more freedom and joy than to get out for a few days on his Gold

He loved fishing, hunting, traveling, flying, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports, as well as visiting with his friends and family. Wing. He made an annual trip to Sturgis for Bike Week for more than 30 years.

Bob served on the Albany City Council for 23 years. He was also elected mayor on a write-in ballot in 1991, a short-lived stint as he preferred to be a behind-the-scenes contributor, participating in both the Planning Commission and the Economic Development Authority Board.

To those who didn’t know him, Bob probably came off as a gruff guy, but to those knew him, they knew that was just a hard shell.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lois of Albany; his 3 children: Nancy Hanauer (Mitch Culbreath) of Minneapolis, Fezzy (Patty) Hanauer of Albany, Lori (Ken) Wambach of Albany; four grandchildren: Mercedes (Trevore) Klein, Ben Hanauer, Mackenzie Wambach, Madison Wambach; two great-grandchildren, Alice and Gabriel and his sister Patricia Bordewich of Cottage Grove.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosella and Albert Hanauer and his infant brother, Albert.

Burtrum City • March 1, 2021 The Burtrum City Council meeting was called to order at 7pm on Monday, March 1, 2021 by Mayor Ron Strassburg.

In attendance was Ron Strassburg, Kevin Rohde, Sharon Erickson, Sara Macho, Mitchell Bruggenthies and Laura Horvath.

Minutes from the February 1, 2021 meeting were read and approved by a motion made by Kevin Rohde and seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies, upon vote motion was carried and minutes were accepted.

Next the finance report was read and approved by a motion made by Sara Macho and seconded by Kevin Rohde, finance report was accepted.

The city discussed the current bills/invoices and upon a motion made by Sara Macho and seconded by

Old business – we are still waiting to hear an update from Greater Gas company, this year city discussed adding more gravel for dust control and updating ditch/culvert options.

New business – Clean up day will be May 22nd, location for clean up day will be provided in our May meeting. City discussed and approved installation for a speed/radar sign, motion made by Sara Macho and seconded by Sharon Erickson, motion carried by all. The City of Burtrum’s Easter Egg Hunt is planned to take place on Saturday, April 3rd at 10:00am in Lion’s Park.

Minnesota Income Tax Grace Period to May 17 In following with the IRS, the Minnesota Department of Revenue has announced a grace period for taxpayers filing their annual Minnesota Individual Income Tax return for tax year 2020. Those taxpayers now have until May 17, 2021, to file and make their payments without any penalty or interest.

“This grace period for the individual tax filing and payment deadline provides timely relief to Minnesota families,” said Governor Tim Walz. “As we work to get through the COVID-19 pandemic together, my Administration will do everything we can to ease the burden on Minnesotans.”

Minnesota is allowing additional time for making 2020 state individual income tax filings and payments to May 17, 2021, without any penalty and interest being applied.

This grace period does not include individual estimated tax payments.

Accident: March 17, 2021: At approximately 7:48 am, received a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 30th Street and 90th Avenue, approximately four miles east of Upsala, MN in Elmdale Township.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, 58-year-old Vern Capelle of Little Falls, MN was traveling west on 30th Street and a 17-year-old male from Bowlus, MN was traveling south on 90th Avenue. The juvenile male’s vehicle slid through the stop sign and was struck by Capelle’s vehicle in the intersection. The juvenile driver was transported to St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance with serious injuries. Capelle was transported to St. Gabriel’s Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance with minor injuries.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Upsala Fire Department, Upsala First Response Team and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.

Todd Co. Sheriff’s Office

March 12, 2021: At at approximately 1:27 A.M., received a report of a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of County Road 35 and Cedar Lake Road in Birchdale Township. Todd County Deputies arrived on scene and located the driver, Samuel Jameson of rural Browerville. Jameson was later transported to the Sauk Centre Hospital with serious injuries. Jameson had two juvenile passengers in the vehicle with him. One of the juveniles was transported to Sauk Centre Hospital with serious injuries. The second juvenile was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained from the crash. This incident is currently under investigation. The Todd County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in the investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol. The Todd County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted on scene by the Sauk Centre Fire Department, Sauk Centre Ambulance, and Grey Eagle Fire & Rescue.

Grass Fire: March 21, 2021: At approximately 2:21 a.m., received a call of a grass fire on County Road 151, approximately one mile north of 395th Street in Holding Township. The caller, Nicholas Hellmann, 21, Holdingford, had noticed the fire from his residence. The fire burned approximately one acre of grass and brush before it was extinguished by the Holdingford Fire Dept.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Holdingford Fire Department.

Dear Motor Medics, I drive a 2006 Toyota Camry and I am having a brake problem. I have owned the car since it was a year old and have had little issues with the car. I have kept detailed service records of all items I have needed at the dealership which is the only place that I have ever had work done.

The brakes were first replaced back in 2010 when the car had 95k miles on it and they lasted until 2019 when they were replaced a second time at 140k miles. More years but less miles. The problem is that since that last repair the car has needed two more sets of brake pads and rotors at only 20k miles each.

I am the only one who drives the car, and the dealer says they cannot find any problems.

If the dealership has not been able to find any issues you may want to try a different shop

for a second opinion. If it is not an induced issue due to terrain or driver habits, things to check would be brake hoses and calipers for sticking as these are common areas to cause brakes to slightly stick and cause them to wear out quickly.

For about two years now the windows have been dragging and getting slower and slower until the passenger side window stopped moving about an inch from the top and the driver’s side failed right at the top. Both rear windows are also slow. The door locks wont lock unless you press the lock switch five or more times and with each press, they move a little more. Unlocking they are a little better.

The door panels will need to come off and the mechanisms cleaned and pay close attention to the window tracks. Clean and lube everything on the glass run with a dry lube and the lock rods with moly lube. The regulators will likely need replacement too. Once repairs are made, make sure everything is working and moving freely before placing the door panels back on the doors. Many people make these repairs themselves with the help of YouTube or a confident friend, but a shop can make the repairs for a reasonable cost. Ask your shop what costs would be.
