Vision is seeing the invisible -By Harvey Mackay “When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation.

When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town.

I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

“Now, as an old man, I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation, and I could indeed have changed the world.”

These comments, from an unknown monk in 1100, illustrate the power of vision.

A vision is the mental picture of what you desire. Clear goals are essential but having a vision is more than just achieving goals. You must have inspiration and motivation and a believe-in-yourself mentality. A vision provides hope and a desire to work harder. Having a vision means having a clear sense of purpose.

I learned long ago that projecting oneself into a successful situation is one of the most powerful means of attaining personal goals.

Vision doesn’t do the planning and it doesn’t anticipate the obstacles. It gives a real idea of what is possible, if only you want it bad enough.

Author J. Oswald Sanders said: “Eyes that look are common. Eyes that see are rare.”

Here are some of the characteristics of a successful vision: Imaginable. The first thing is to make sure that your vision is doable. Many people have visions that are not attainable. You need to have a clear picture of what you want.

Desire. The will is as important as the skill.

History books are full of tales of people who said certain things could never be done – and

then prove that anything is possible. I’ve always said that you can accomplish almost anything if you put your mind to it. If you believe you can do something, you have a chance. If you don’t, you won’t.

Motivation. I think one of the best motivators, the one that is most likely to stick with you – even for a lifetime – is the one that comes from within. . . the voice inside you. You have to ignite your own passion. Motivation is the spark that ignites success.

Focus. How many times have you heard an athlete talk about focus? It’s a topic I also hear about frequently in business. The most common complaints: Too many irons in the fire. Too many projects spinning at one time. Too many interruptions. Too many phone calls. Too many emails. Too many things to do. Too little time.

Decide what is most important. Stay focused as best you can, and don’t let things happen to you – not when you can make things happen.

Confidence. Confidence doesn’t come naturally to most people. Even the most successful people have struggled with it in their careers. The good news is that you can develop confidence, just like any muscle or character trait, if you’re willing to work hard and achieve some success.

Flexible. No matter how good your ideas are, or how committed you are to your vision, remember that things change. Be ready to modify your plans so you can take advantage of opportunities that present themselves.

At age 40, Thomas Watson Sr. became general manager of a little firm that manufactured meat slicers, time clocks and simple tabulators.

However, he had a vision for a machine that could process and store information long before computers were a reality. To match his lofty vision, Watson soon renamed his company International Business Machines Corporation.

He was asked late in life when he envisioned IBM becoming so successful. His reply was simply, “At the beginning.”

In the early 1970s, Fred Smith described his vision for an overnight nationwide air express delivery system in a term paper for his economics class at Yale University, for which the professor awarded him a C. Today Federal Express delivers freight and packages in more than 220 countries across six continents each day.

Mrs. Walt Disney gave the inaugural speech at the opening of Disney World in Florida since Walt Disney had passed away. An interviewer said to her, “I wish Dr. Disney had lived to see it.”

Mrs. Disney replied, “He did.”

Mackay’s Moral: A vision without a task is a dream. A task with a vision is drudgery. But the two together are the hope of the world.

are different from us, you need to have your minds changed or possibly be eliminated.

So missionaries were introduced to change their way of thinking. Even though their surroundings provided everything they needed to survive, they needed to learn of a greater influence on their lives. They needed “big” government to tell them what they need and help adjust their minds.

In the mean time the European invaders brought along unfamiliar diseases, which caused death for many of the original inhabitants.

The real reason to invade this country was money. The invaders were primarily looking for ways to destroy the natural benefits for financial gain. First the fur bearing animals needed to be harvested to make money. Then the trees needed to be cut to make money.

The land needed to be cleared so crops could be planted to make money. The lakes that teamed with fish needed to be harvested to make money. Wildlife needed to be eliminated so that they could be sold to make money.

Buffalo were shot simply for sport, virtually eliminating them totally from our country.

The native peoples, that had previously lived on many of these natural resources, saw them disappearing and their people beginning to starve. The new “owners” of the land made grand efforts to help them by creating reservations at locations which had no economic or natural value. The buffalo that they previously used for food and shelter were gone. The other wildlife that they included in their diet were gone. Did the American Native People have a right to extremely dislike the invaders?

The people of the Ukraine are currently seeing their country destroyed. Our news reports tell us that Russia is destroying it simply to take it over. If they are successful, their prize looks like a big ugly junkyard. Somehow it

Russia is trying to take over Ukraine. They are evidently, from our viewpoint, creating a destruction of the country, along with the murder of the Ukraine's population.

This type of action is totally unacceptable by most of the sane countries in the world. It's like the wars that occurred in Bible times, including the Roman Empire, the crusades, Alexander the Great, Napoleon, Hitler, etc. Its happened many times before and will probably be attempted again in the future.

There is a comparison to these methods in our own country. When the first European explorer's arrived in America, they found it populated by a group of people that didn't speak their language, didn't dress the same, lived in “primitive” housing and especially didn't worship the same way that the new arrivals did. These people needed to be changed. Our duty is to save these people from themselves.

They have allowed the population of furbearing to become “excessive”. They have let the trees grow to extreme sizes. They allowed many forms of wildlife, especially turkeys and buffalo to take over the country. They lived with the land without owning it, appreciating it for providing their basic needs of food and shelter. There were no “No Trespassing" signs.

The Europeans felt that they had a duty to change these primitive ways. It is like if you

David Lyle Dorn, age 74, of Burtrum; passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 1, 2022.

Preceded in death by parents, Lyle and Gloria (née Stroschein); and brothers, Dennis and Douglas.

Survived by loving wife of 53 years, Judy (née Frendt); daughter, Lorrie; son, David (Jennifer); grandsons, Aiden and Benjamin; sister, Diane (Tom) Grahn; sister-in-law, Dianne Dorn; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Fredrick John Ostendorf

Fredrick “Fred” John Ostendorf, 87, of Sauk Centre died Thursday June 16, 2022, at Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre.

Fred was born October 28, 1934 to Joseph and Clara Ostendorf.

Fred married Rhoda Thompson on December 21,1956, together they raised 4 children. Fred was in the Army National Guard from January 18, 1957 to December 31, 1961.

Fred owned and operated Sauk Centre Excavating until his retirement in 2007. He owned and operated Centre Sports from 1965-1985. He was active with the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Jaycees and was a Volunteer Firefighter from 1968-1979. Fred served on the Todd County Planning and Zoning Committee and was a supervisor for the Birchdale Township Board.

Fred is survived by his children, Jeanne (Kurt) Kumlin, Nancy (Mike) Noe, Joseph (Riley), 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Sister; Marian Sauer and brother; Larry Ostendorf.

Fred is preceded in death by his wife Rhoda, his daughter Mary Jo and his parents Joseph and Clara, his siblings Joe Ostendorf, Ron Ostendorf, Joan Raab, Dona Martin, and Diane Warren.

A celebration of Life will take place at the American Legion in Little Sauk on Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. Military Honors will be held at 10:15 AM. Interment will be immediately following the celebration, at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you plant a tree in his honor.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, June 28 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ron Dockendorf officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Joan Virgina Dolence was born March 5, 1935, in Birchdale Township, Todd County, Minnesota to Andrew and Josephine (Berscheit) Dolence. She was united in marriage to Glen Rohde on April 25, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. The couple farmed in Birchdale Township from 1961 to 1975. While farming, Joan worked at Kuehne Feed Mill in Grey Eagle as a bookkeeper of many years. The couple owned and operated the Golden Eagle Supper Club in Burtrum until 1988 and then purchased Lagoona Beach Supper Club on Big Stone Lake. After retiring, the couple moved back to Grey Eagle and helped their son, Bruce at the Hub Supper Club in Burtrum.

Joan was a talented quilter and baker during which she could always be heard humming and singing. She enjoyed gardening, Bingo, Bunko Club, and happy hour with her long-time companion, Harlan. Joan was an avid reader as well as a game show fanatic and a die-hard Twins and Vikings fan. Beyond that, she was the loving and involved matriarch of a sizeable family whose company she enjoyed greatly. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her long-time companion, Harlan Bruns of Burtrum; children, Rose (Brad) Meagher of Mesa, Arizona, Dennis Rohde of Burtrum, Julie Ritter of Sauk Centre, Brenda Allen of Dallas, Georgia, Thom Rohde (Pam Marino) of Fort Myers, Florida, Steve Rohde of Browerville, Jeff (Korinna) Rohde of Grey Eagle, Charlotte (Al) Roe of Grey Eagle, Bruce (Nikki) Rohde of Long Prairie, Tina Rohde (Mick Flood) of Burtrum, and Peggy (Darren) Larsen of Little Falls; 33 grandchildren; and 56 great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Rohde in 2001; parents; grandson, Craig Rohde; siblings, Katherine Woodman, Robert Dolence, Andrew Dolence Jr, Paul Dolence, Theresa Sobota, Delores Roering, Marge Hinman, and Joe Dolence.

Serving as casket bearers were Timothy Ritter, Scott Rohde, Tony Rohde, Brandon Allen, Alex Rohde, Joshua Rohde, Jade Olson, and Matt Roe. Cross bearer was Tiffany Ritter and scripture bearer was Trista Majerus. Reader was Kelly McDermond-Allen. Gift bearers were Sara Roe and Samantha Rushmeyer.

Adam J. Petermeier

Adam J. Petermeier, age 40 of St. Cloud, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

A gathering of family and friends was held Tuesday, June 28 at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose.

Adam James Petermeier was born January 3, 1982 in Melrose, Minnesota to Mark and Sheila (Butkowski) Petermeier.

He graduated from Melrose High School in 2000. He started working at Walmart in 2001.

He worked there for many years working his way up to manager. He then started re-selling on Ebay and was very successful. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing poker, watching movies, and collecting and selling comic books.

He spent quality time with his two girls, Emma and Morgan. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his daughters, Morgan Petermeier and Emma Ross both of Killeen, Texas; best friend, Danielle Kosmas of Killeen, Texas; father, Mark Petermeier (friend, Cathy Funovits) of Cold Spring; mother, Sheila Petermeier of Melrose; sisters, Candice (Ryan) Beilke of Sauk Centre and Katlyn Petermeier of Melrose; niece and nephew, Bria and Gunner Beilke; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Adam was preceded in death by his grandparents; and cousin, Ransom Butkowski.

Valeria M. “Val” Peters, age 91 of Sauk Centre, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Fairway Pines Assisted Living in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, June 29 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Sauk Centre.

Valeria Mary Peters was born June 5, 1931 in Lake George Township, Stearns County to Frank and Frances (Meyer) Weber. She married Robert Peters on September 27, 1955 at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Elrosa.

The couple farmed in the Sauk Centre area until 1994 when they retired and moved to town.

Val was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Homemaker Club, Birthday Club and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, getting together with the members of the birthday and homemakers clubs, playing bingo with the grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Barb (Denny) Honzay of Olivia, Bev (Larry) Hoppe of Osakis, Mike (Deb) Peters of Avon, and Ann (Paul) Novotny of Greenfield; grandchildren, Mark (Alysia), Laura, Sarah, and Jacob Honzay, Mathew, Karla (Fiancé Adam), and Aaron (Brittany) Hoppe, Derek Peters, Andrew and Leah Novotny; great-grandchildren, Will and Kate Honzay; siblings, Delores Orth, John Weber, Marie Stang, and Eugene Weber; and other in-laws.

Val was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Peters; parents; infant children, Mary and Joseph; brother, Art Weber; several brothers and sisters-in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Serving as casket bearers were Val's grandsons, Mathew Hoppe, Mark Honzay, Aaron Hoppe, Jacob Honzay, Andrew Novotny, and Derek Peters. Honorary bearers were the Birthday and the Homemakers clubs.

Michael Duane Determan

Michael Duane Determan, 68-yearold resident of Little Falls died Sunday, June 19 at his home in Little Falls. A funeral service was held Friday, June 24 at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN. Burial was held in Bear Head Cemetery in Pillsbury, MN. The military rites were conducted by the Swanville American Legion Michael Duane Determan was born on July 21, 1953 in Fort Knox, Kentucky to the late Robert and Shirley (Garner) Determan. The family moved to Swanville, Minnesota. Michael attended school in Swanville and graduated with the class of 1971.

Michael served his Country in Army National Guard. He was united in marriage to Debra Stephan on August 4, 1977 in Milbank, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Long Prairie, where Michael worked at the Long Prairie Armory for a short time until moving to Little Falls in 1991. Michael worked at Camp Ripley in the transportation department from 1986 until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed bow hunting, shooting bows competitively and even received two Robin Hood arrow splitters awards, fishing, leather work, sketching, painting, calligraphy, cars and watching racing. In his retirement years, Mike enjoyed golfing in several leagues at Eagle’s Landing Golf Course, Brainerd Legion golf league at Eagle’s Landing Golf Course and the Bow Hunters Association.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Jason Determan of Pierz, Jessi (Roy) Petersen of St. Cloud and their children, Estelle and Harlen Petersen and a brother, Scott (Roxanne) Determan of Browerville and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Shirley Determan; wife, Debra Determan; sister, Denise “DeDe” (Determan) Mezera and a brother, John Determan.

Mary Stein

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 27, 2022 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie for Mary Stein, 79 of Long Prairie who died Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Maplewood Manor Senior Living in Elbow Lake. The Rev. Omar Guanchez officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mary was born April 28, 1943 in Guhren, Germany to Wilhelm & Theresia (Wigger) Damer. She and her family moved from East Germany to West Germany in January of 1945, on June 6, 1950 they immigrated to the United States to New Underwood, SD and in 1956 they moved to Elrosa. She grew up in Elrosa and after graduating from high school she attended and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester. She became a registered nurse and started working at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

She met Robert E. Stein in Duluth and they were married on August 20, 1966 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. They moved to Long Prairie and purchased the Stephan Funeral Home in 1969 and operated the funeral home together until 2004 when they retired. She is a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Long Prairie, and was active in the Catholic Women and St. Ann’s Mission group. Mary was active in her community in different organization including, the Long Prairie Food Pantry, Long Prairie Quilt Club, Long Prairie Marching Ambassadors, Long Prairie Chamber, Charter member of Long Prairie Mrs. JC’s, Country Cruisers Car Club. She was also a member of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association and the St. Mary’s School of Nursing Alumni Group.

Mary enjoyed spending time playing bridge at the Long Prairie Country Club.

She is survived by her husband Robert of Long Prairie; children, Jonathan (Mari) of Wausau, WI; Katrina (Tyler) Stenton of Chicago, IL; Christopher E. (Debra) of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Eric, Christopher R., Abigail, Allison, and Cash Stein, brothers, Guido (Carlene) Damer of Prineville, OR; Lewis (Dianne) Damer of St. Paul.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Fred, Alois and Josef Damer.

Dennis J. Scepaniak

S e r v i c e s celebrating the life of Dennis John Scepaniak, age 60, of Avon, will be held Monday, July 11th at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in Holdingford from 4:00-8:00 PM. Dennis passed away Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins

Lymphoma.

Dennis was born on March 8th, 1962 in Melrose to Louis and Jeanette (Fischer) Scepaniak. On June 6th, 2022 after 28 years of partnership and love he married Lynn Baggenstoss at the St. Cloud Hospital. Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his daughter, son-in-law, and 4 grandsons; Quinn (13), Cole (11), Alex (8) and Milo (3). Dennis believed in the importance of land and wildlife conservation. He took pride in his 40 acres of land and the hundreds of trees he planted there.

Dennis was also a proud member of Pheasants Forever for over 30 years. Dennis successfully owned and operated The Upholstery Shop in St. Anna for nearly 40 years. He valued the friendships and interactions he had with his customers and will be remembered for paying

meticulous attention to detail.

Dennis is survived by his wife Lynn Baggenstoss-Scepaniak, his daughter Becca (Jon) Myrum of Sartell, his grandsons and his mother Jeanette of Holdingford. He is survived by his sisters and brother; Kathleen Scepaniak, Patricia Scepaniak, Barbara Manuel, and Jeffery (Shelly) Scepaniak. He is also survived by his sisters and brother in laws; Lois Sandvig, Dean (Mary) Baggenstoss, Ross (Susan) Baggenstoss, Craig (Deb) Baggenstoss, Lisa (Dan) Lundberg, and Leah (Dean) Hoffarth. Dennis will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father Louis Scepaniak, his mother and father-in-law Louis and Addie Baggenstoss and an infant brother.

-Susan Dear Susan, That sounds a little high for a timing chain fix to me. Maybe I’m wrong about that, but let’s look at the math of your situation.

You say the value of the car is $4,500 if fixed and running properly. Let’s say for the sake of argument the value of the car if you sell it as-is—basically salvage—is $1,500. If you take the value of the car as-is, plus the repair, and the number you come up with is more than the value of the car after it’s fixed, you don’t repair the car.

So, if this car is actually worth $1,500, the idea of fixing it is very questionable. If you can get $1,500 for this thing as-is, I’d sell it and put the $2,200 I would’ve thrown into fixing that old thing toward a better car.

You’re talking about a big repair on an old car, Susan. If the repair price you got is right, and it was from an honest mechanic— not some padded, overblown quote from a

Dear Motor Medics, I have a 2005 Buick Lesabre and under the back of the vehicle there are what appears to be shock absorbers and they have air lines attached to them. They both are leaking what I assume is oil and I hear a noise that lasts for about four minutes each time I start the car.

This noise used to last only about 10 seconds if it happened at all. I have several questions.

Does this mean the shocks are bad? Is the noise I hear the air compressor that fills the shocks?

Can I let it go for a while because it seems to still ride well? How expensive is it to repair this problem?

-Gary in Sheldon, Iowa Dear Gary, You have load leveling shock absorbers in back which means they not only control the firmness of the ride but they level out the vehicle when extra weight is added to it. When a shock leaks or the vehicle has excessive bounce, it is an indication of the need for replacement. Oil is used in the dampening of the shock and when it leaks out the shock can no longer control the bounce compromising your safety. If you leave the shocks the way they are the compressor which you hear running will eventually burn out and be very expensive to fix. These shocks are usually available at most parts stores for a reasonable price and take about one hour to replace.

we are ok with the cars. What we are worried about is that in addition to the car we supplied our children with new cell phones. We have lectured on the dangers of texting and driving more than once but with the large number of messages sent daily from their phones the temptation is too great. We have seen them texting as they drive away and pull in so we know it is happening. We don’t want to take away the phones because we feel much safer when we can contact them but we cannot allow them to use the phones while driving.

From the Desk of Pastor Bruce Sunday I preached on Galatians 6:2-6 and there are some humorous things about scripture and the way the writers think, particularly Paul. Verse 2-3 says “Carry each others burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.” Now, think about that.

Haha. OK, here is a scenario, if a man can only think of himself and all of his successes, then how do you think he will ever carry the burdens of others? It makes total sense and that is why they are together I suppose.

I love Philippians 2: 5-8 “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” Jesus thought of everyone else, for it was this reason He came, to save and seek the lost.

1 John 3:16-18 “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life

for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” Jesus didn’t just say love one another, He showed us how!

Colossians 3:12-14 puts it all together for us; “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

Go and do likewise, care and love others, in the same way Christ did.

Summer Tick Prevention

In Minnesota, there are about a dozen different types of ticks. Not all of them spread disease. Three types that people may come across in Minnesota are the blacklegged tick (aka deer tick), the American dog tick (aka wood tick), and the lone star tick. The blacklegged tick causes by far the most tickborne disease in Minnesota. People in Minnesota are often bitten by American dog ticks but they rarely spread diseases. American dog ticks may spread Rocky Mountain spotted fever and tularemia. Lone star ticks are rarely found in Minnesota, but can spread diseases such as ehrlichiosis and tularemia.

Check frequently for ticks – at least once a day.

• Ticks must remain attached for one to two days before they can transmit the Lyme disease bacteria.

• Bathe or shower after coming indoors to wash off and more easily find ticks that may be crawling on or attached to you.

• Search your entire body closely, especially hard-tosee areas (e.g. behind knees, groin area, and arm pits).

• Ticks may look like a speck of dirt or freckle on skin so use a parent or a mirror to help you.

• If you find a tick on yourself, remove the tick as soon as possible. o Use a pair of tweezers or your fingers to grasp the tick by the head, close to the skin. o Pull the tick outward slowly, gently, and steadily o Clean the area with soap and water. o Avoid folk remedies like Vaseline®, nail polish remover or burning matches - they are not a safe or effective way to remove ticks.

Healthy Soils

Soil erosion is the displacement and relocation of soils due to water or wind events. Many of these events can be prevented or minimized by utilizing good soil health practices. The recent storm events with heavy rains at this critical time of year when soils have been exposed and new seedings aren’t growing yet has shown us how important these principls are.

Basic soil health principles include: 1) Keep soils covered. This includes residue management and cover crops.

2) Minimizing soil disturbance, 3) Diversified crop rotations with warm and cool season grasses and broadleaf plants, including cover crops, and 4) Keep living plants throughout the year, practices may include cover crop or incorporating perennial crops into your rotation.

Healthy soils are less likely to erode, have improved organic matter, are more resistant to pest problems and improved plant health.

If you have questions or need assistance with incorporating these principals into your current operation contact your local NRCS office. NRCS also offers assistance with grass waterways and water and sediment control or other structures to help repair and prevent soil erosion.

by Mayor Ron Strassburg.

In attendance was Mayor, Ron Strassburg, Mitchell Bruggenthies, Sharon Erickson, Sara Macho, Chad Landowski and Laura Horvath.

Minutes from the May 2, 2022 meeting were read and approved; a motion to approve was made by Mitchell Bruggenthies, and seconded by Sara Macho, upon vote motion was carried and minutes were accepted.

Next the finance report was read and approved; the city discussed current bills/invoices; finance report was accepted, and bills were paid, with a motion made by Sara Erickson and seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies Current Bills: City Clerk wages, Herdering Inc., Police Patrol, Terry Veldekamp – Concrete Lions’s Park, MN Power, City Wide Clean up - a motion to pay bills made by Sara Macho, seconded by Mitchell Bruggenthies.

New Business: Election Training – starts this

week City will send letters enforcing yard ordinance in regard, to overgrown grass, etc.

Old Business: Blading/dust control to start this week, culvert project will take place in the next two weeks.

Since no further topics needed to be addressed the meeting was adjourned; with a motion made by Sara Macho and seconded by Sharon Erickson, upon vote motion carried and meeting was adjourned.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022.

Julie Lynn Scholz, age 60 of Upsala, MN passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 4-8 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at the church and one hour prior to Mass on Saturday.

Julie was born on February 7, 1962 in Little Falls, MN to Loren and Luella (Edwards) Paul. She married William Scholz on January 8, 1982 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala.

Julie provided daycare for many years and most recently for her two grandsons, Quinn and Wyatt, to whom she enjoyed spoiling. She had a heart of gold and was a caregiver to all. She enjoyed painting yard art, gardening, her dogs and shopping. Her passion was growing flowers.

She also spent time riding in the side-by-side with Bill looking for deer.
