One person can make a difference -By Harvey Mackay A new era began at the University of Minnesota when PJ Fleck was hired as the head football coach.

Since he landed in Minnesota less than two short years ago, he has already begun to energize the entire state. He is always up for a challenge and setting records, which he did on his high school and college football teams as a wide receiver. He was an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers until his playing days ended with injuries.

I love his message on leadership and culture change. For example, he doesn’t believe that leaders should separate their personal life and their professional life.

He says, “As the leader, you are the walking, talking vision of whatever you say.”

He practices the three Ls of Leadership: Look. “Leaders have to look around every corner,” Fleck said. “Leaders should never be surprised. It’s not IF something will happen, it’s WHEN it will happen. Leaders must look for everyone else.”

Listen. Listening is crucial for Fleck. He believes there is a big difference between communicating and connecting: “Leaders pull people along with them. They surround themselves with smart people and listen to them.”

Lift. This is #1 for Fleck. Leaders must lift people up. “You can’t just tell people to do things and put your fist down,” he says. “There are times to be demanding, but if you do it too much,

all you do is wear people out. Getting to know how your people are motivated and inspired is a true characteristic of an elite leader.”

Fleck lives by the never-give-up slogan, “Row the boat.” There are three parts to it, the oar, the boat and the compass.

The oar is the energy you bring to your life. It’s what moves the boat. The water is life. Most people go through life and say I’ll see what happens. That’s not how we live our lives. We put our oar in the water and we row and row and row … no matter if it’s positive or negative.

The oar is the only thing you can control now.

The boat is the sacrifice. We all want something that we don’t have. What are you willing to give up to get what you want? The more you give and the more you serve, the bigger that boat gets, and the more people you can take on that trip.

The compass is the direction, which Fleck considers the most important part.

Who you surround yourself with is who you become. If you surround yourself with bad people, you will do bad things.

If you surround yourself with elite people, you will do elite things.

“The Good Old Days” -By Tom Kuehne Log Houses When the first settlers arrived in the local area, the first thing which had to be done was building a house. The area was heavily forested with trees and they had to be removed to create farm land. The need for open area to grow crops fit well with house construction.

The log house was usually rather small in size, with an open area upstairs, used as a sleeping area. The downstairs consisted of a kitchen and a master bedroom. There was a dugout area under the main floor, which was needed for cool food storage and also provided a safe area from summer storms.

Foundations were constructed by digging a trench around the parameter, filling it with small stones and starting the bottom log on the stones. Another method was to gather large stones and create a base to accept the first logs.

It was best to keep the logs off of the ground to avoid rot.

The walls were logs that were squared on all four sides to create a log

which was equal size to the rest of the logs. The logs were squared by creating cuts with an ax and the wood between the cuts was removed using a broad ax.

This tool had a straight cutting blade attached to a curved handle, so that the workman could stand over the log and remove the round sides. The length of the logs determined the size of the house.

Very large logs were not used because to square them down to a 10 inch square would require excessive work and wood removal. Joint cuts were created at the corners to fit the logs together.

Clay mixed with grass was used to fill in the spaces between the logs. Doors, windows and a stone fireplace were added during the building process.

Floors were built with smaller log joists covered with hand-split planks.

The roof was created with smaller squared logs to create the wood framework. Wood slabs were then attached to the frame to create a flat surface, which were then covered with 1 inch oak slab shingles. Heat loss through the roof wasn’t a consideration.

Homes in early times were not actually heated. The wood-burning fireplaces were used to cook food. If they did reflect heat back into the house it was a secondary benefit.

These early log homes have almost all disappeared. Their lifetime was up to

The HOW is your people. If your company is struggling, either your people or your processes are screwed up or both. Take a long time to hire, but fire quickly. The HOW is also your heart, spirit and will. How you do something matters more than what you do.

YOURS stands for your vision.

Everyone should have a vision for their company and what their life should look like. Every person you hire should know that vision very clearly.

If your PROCESS is on target, you get the RESULTS you want. Leaders should never be surprised by the results.

They should know what’s coming and how to fix it by looking, listening and lifting.

The RESPONSE is crucial. Watch your body language because that’s the first way people respond. We train our players on body language. We teach them to watch their opponent’s body

Obituaries Mildred M. “Millie” Muellner

Mildred M. “Millie” Muellner, age 86 of St. Cloud, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at her granddaughter ’s home in Burtrum, Minnesota.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 6 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grey Eagle with Rev. Ronald Dockendorf officiating. A private inurnment will be held in the parish cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday morning at the church.

Mildred Marie Heinen was born June 6, 1932 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Henry and Elizabeth (Poepping) Heinen. On September 3, 1951 she was united in marriage to Ambrose Muellner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. Millie was employed by Mister Donut, McDonalds, and many other places in St. Cloud. Millie and Ambrose have been snowbirds for 25 years, traveling to their home in Apache Junction, Arizona.

They had traveled many places over their 67 years of marriage, from Germany to Hawaii, and to nearly every state.

Friday, Dec. 14

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Cloud, St. Anthony Christian Mothers, and St. George Catholic Church in Apache Junction, Arizona. Millie bowled for many years at Dee’s Lanes and Granite Bowl in St. Cloud, and also bowled in Apache Junction. She also joined a pool league at Road Haven Resort for many years. Millie enjoyed playing cards, BINGO, and loved traveling abroad with her loving husband.

On November 20, 2018 Adele Joyce Coram, 73, a resident of Melrose, MN was called to the Lord at Saint Benedict’s Senior Community while surrounded by family, friends and her beloved Pastor, Paul.

Adele was born on July 28, 1945 in Minneapolis to Philip and Edith Mattison. Adele was a master crochet and cross stitch artist and made beautiful blankets, hats, doilies, scarfs & personalized wall art for people she loved.

Alverna H. McLanahan, age 88 of Melrose, died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at CentraCare Pine Villa Health Care Center in Melrose, Minnesota.

At the request of Alverna, a private family service will be held to honor her life. Rev. Marvin Enneking will preside.

Inurnment will be in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Melrose, Minnesota.

Alverna Helen Walz was born April 10, 1930 in Lake George Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Alphonse and Louise (Deters) Walz. She was a 1948 graduate of Melrose High School. On March 30, 1963, she was united in marriage to Julian R. “Mick” McLanahan in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Alverna was the proud mother of two sons, Patrick and Robert, and moved from place to place for Mick’s job with the electric companies. Alverna worked as a Supervisor in food processing in Oregon, later retiring to Arizona and then back home

They truly enjoyed searching and finding Indian arrowheads throughout the West which they later donated to a museum. Alverna loved playing cards, bowling, and playing Bingo. She enjoyed the conversation and just being involved with her friends and extended family. She learned to persevere and to be a strong, independent, compassionate woman as she experienced some of life’s most difficult challenges -- such as the death of her son, Robert at the age of 5 years. She would often remind everyone - “I CAN paddle my own canoe!” and she seriously meant it.

Alverna is preceded in death by her son, Robert McLanahan in 1970, husband, JR “Mick” McLanahan in 1998, son, Patrick McLanahan in 2000; parents, Alphonse and Louise Walz; sisters, Ann Olmscheid and Beatrice Sieben; niece, Marlene Henry; and her special senior companion, Melvin Pankratz who died in 2012.

She will always be remembered by her extended family and the friends she made as she traveled and lived throughout the United States.

Alverna and her beloved family will be waiting for each of us at The End Of The Trail.

George F. Hulinsky, Sr., age 83 of Burtrum, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home near Burtrum, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8 at Faith Community

Church in Burtrum.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

George Frank Hulinsky was born January 4, 1935 in Burwell, Nebraska to Frank and Lillian (Codr) Hulinsky. After completing the 8th grade, George stayed home to help his dad on the ranch in Nebraska. In 1962 George moved to Minnesota and attended welding

Elmer H. Muellner, age 89 of Melrose, died Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Heritage of Foley Nursing Home in Foley, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held We d n e s d a y, December 5 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meire Grove with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment was held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Melrose.

Elmer Henry Muellner was born October 8, 1929 in Melrose, Minnesota to Raymond and Agnes (Tiemann) Muellner.

On September 11, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Hiltner at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Melrose. In his younger years, Elmer helped farmers with chores on a number of farms in the area. He later worked for Jennie O Foods and Franklin Manufacturing, which is now Electrolux.

George was a member of Grey Eagle United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fixing and repairing things, dancing, old time music, and Czech Music.

Survivors include his children, Debbie (Dave) Karnes of Fridley, David (Shirley) Hulinsky of Burtrum, Dolores (Larry) Greene of Dodge Center, George Hulinsky, Jr. of Ramsey, and Joann (Dirk) Brandis of Novato, CA; 15 grandchildren; and sister, Betty Heil of Loup City, NE. George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon Hulinsky; and sister, Irene Seidel.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, the Two Cylinder Club, Young at Heart Club, and the Local Lodge 623 of the International Association of Machinists. Elmer truly enjoyed working on his hobby farm in Melrose.

Survivors include his children, Linda (Tom) Morton of Melrose, Alma Muellner of Melrose, David Muellner of St. Cloud, and Donna (Thomas) Hamel of Plymouth; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Regina) Muellner of Melrose and Alquin (Celestina) Muellner of St. Joseph; and sister, Mary (Edward) Zinniel of St. Cloud.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadine Muellner on May 24, 2012; and parents.

Serving as casket bearers were Alma Muellner, David Muellner, Donna Hamel, Tom Morton, Donald Hiltner, and John Muellner. Cross bearer was Kristen Hamel and scripture bearer was Samantha Hamel.

Gift bearers were Alexandra Hamel and Natasha Hamel and lector was Linda Morton.

LeRoy A. “Fritz” Finken Sr.

LeRoy A. “Fritz” Finken Sr., age 82 of St. Rosa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 7 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa with Rev. Dan Walz officiating. Interment will be after lunch at Bearhead Union Cemetery near Swanville. Military honors will be by the Melrose Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.

Thursday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose and from 10 to 11 a.m.

Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

LeRoy August Finken Sr. was born March 18, 1936 in Freeport, Minnesota to Robert and Loretta (Stueve) Finken. He enlisted in the United States Army Reserve on January 31, 1955 and served until 1959.

On February 11, 1956, he married Grace Hanson in Mason City, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived in the Twin Cities and Alexandria where LeRoy worked various jobs. They settled in St. Rosa, where he owned and operated St. Rosa Garage for many years before owning and operating Roofing Specialty in St. Rosa.

LeRoy was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Rosa Lions Club, Monsignor Lorsung Council #14616 Knights of Columbus of Grey Eagle and

worked for the Soo-Line Railroad and later for DCI as a welder. Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trap shooting along with horses; especially riding with the Riverside Trailblazers and being part of the Holdingford Horse Club. He was also skilled at repairing items and was a regular ‘Handy-Andy.’ Andy was also an avid pilot and loved to fly his Cessna 172. Andy also cherished his weekday visits and dice with his coffee group. Andy is a member of Church of All Saints – St. Mary, Holdingford American Legion Post #211, and Holdingford VFW Post #5160.

Andy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois Ann and son Darren both of Holdingford.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Ann Rogers of Anaheim, CA and Louise Winkler of Holdingford.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; sisters, Ruth Maroney, and Rosemary Scepaniak; brothers-in-law, John Rogers, Glen Maroney, William Scepaniak, and LeRoy Winkler; sister-in-law, Dorothy Solinger and twin infant sisters.

Andrew ‘Andy’ Solinger

A n d r e w “Andy” G. Solinger, age 88 of Holdingford died, Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the VA Medical Center St. Cloud. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Church of All Saints – St. Mary, Holdingford.

Andy was born February 15, 1930 in Holdingford to Joseph and Antonia (Lehner) Solinger. He grew up and attended school in Holdingford. Andy served in the US Army from 1954-1956. On October 27 1958 Andy was united in marriage to Lois Ann Lange at Church of All Saints – St. Mary in Holdingford. The couple made their home in Holdingford where they farmed. Andy also

Swanville and the Melrose American Legion Post 101. He enjoyed traveling in his Winnebago, camping, going to the casino, was an avid deer hunter, and most of all, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking care of his wife, Grace.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Finken of St. Rosa; children, Allen Finken of St. Rosa, LeRoy Jr. (Betty “Sis”) Finken of St. Rosa, Brien (Therese) Finken of St. Rosa, Marven (Kim) Finken of Freeport, Troy (Brenda) Finken of Montrose, and Gena (Brent) Parish of St. Rosa; 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; brother, Wilfred “Wif” (Bernette) Finken of Melrose; sisters, Mary Engelmeyer of Melrose, Dorothy Austing of Freeport, and Donna Bueckers of St. Rosa.

Last Christmas, Grandpa was feeling his age and found that shopping for Christmas gifts had become too difficult. So he decided to send checks to everyone instead.

In each card he wrote, “Buy your own present!” and mailed them early.

He enjoyed the usual flurry of holiday festivities, and it was only after the holiday that he noticed that he had received very few cards in return.

He “crowns you with love and compassion,” wrote David. What an amazing statement. Is it possible for us to understand what this means? God Himself crowning us with His love and compassion? What might our author have had in mind when he wrote this? Could it mean that we are kings in God’s eyes?

Not really. It means that when we became His children He crowned us with His loyal, never-ending, steadfast love. We are His now and we will be His forever throughout eternity and nothing will ever separate us from Him or His

love.

In his letter to Timothy, Paul wrote that “If we die with Him we will also live with Him, and if we endure hardship we will also reign with Him.” Although we may suffer great hardships in this life, God assures us that someday we will live eternally with Him. So, it’s worth it. And when we live in Christ’s Kingdom, we will share His eternal reign with Him. There may be times when our suffering may cause us to doubt God’s love.

When these doubts arise, we must never forget that we have been crowned with His love and compassion. “Our present sufferings,” said Paul, “are not worth comparing with the incredible glory that will be revealed in us.” The assurance of His love gives us hope.

Once crowned with His love and compassion we need to remember that we will, as Paul also said, “see the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness.” When we are crowned by God Himself, what more can we ask.

If I were in your shoes, and maybe looking at a three- to five-year window, I’d just park the cash in a good market account. You won’t make a lot off it, but your money will be safe. Besides, all you’re looking for is a wise place to stash it for a little while.

When it comes to long-term investing I’m a big fan of growth stock mutual funds. The problem with that in your situation would be the volatility of the market. By the time you’ve saved up more money, and spent time deciding on a house, the market may be down.

Stearns County Sheriff’s Office

November 29, 2018: At approximately 2:31 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries on County Road 13 near 395th Street in Melrose Township. Two vehicles were involved in the crash. Responding officers were advised one of the vehicles was fully engulfed in flames but all occupants were out of the vehicle.

According to Sheriff Don Gudmundson, a 2002 GMC Sierra driven by David Theiler, 56, of Melrose, was attempting to cross County Road 13 to go to a neighbor’s house. Theiler’s driveway is located directly across the county road from the neighbor’s driveway. Theiler began to cross the road when he was struck by a 2008 Chevy Cobalt driven by Loretta Thull, 78, of Melrose.

The Chevy Cobalt struck the GMC Sierra in the bed of the truck. The Cobalt started on fire shortly after striking the GMC Sierra. Both Loretta and her husband, Herbert Thull, 81, of Melrose, were helped out of the vehicle by Theiler.

A short time later the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The Melrose Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames.

Loretta and Herbert Thull were transported to the Melrose Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Melrose Police Department, Melrose Fire and Rescue and Melrose Ambulance.

Swanville City November 9, 2018 Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held in the Swanville Center on Friday, November 9, 2018. The meeting called to order 5:00 p.m. with the following members present: Sandy Lange, Norm Carlson, Deb Wood, Jim Molitor and Tony Maciej. Also present: Jeremy Boots from Moore Engineering, Lonny Hutchins and reporter Sheila McCoy. Minutes of the Swanville City Council meeting held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 were reviewed. A motion was made by Tony Maciej, to approve the minutes as printed.

Jim Molitor seconded the motion.

All members voted in favor, motion carried.

The treasures report was given. A motion was made by Jim Molitor and seconded by Tony Maciej to approve the treasurer’s report. All members voted in favor, motion carried.

City maintenance man, Lonny reported the Swanville Lions Club plan on donating $27,500.00 to purchase of a new Kubota with blade and brush. The city will put the city owned 2008 Kubota up for bids with a minimum bid of $6500.00. Bids will be accepted until November 30, 2018.

Jeremy Boots, from Moore Engineering, was present to discuss with council the contract between Moore and the City. Mayor Lange presented changes the city attorney feels should be done.

Boots took a copy with him to change the contract. Council also discussed with Boots the land by the water tower and how much land would be needed to build a new tower. Boots advised at least a 150’ by a 150’ spot with some additional space around it. He will send out an email with more information. Council also discussed doing some repairs to the present tower to help prolong the life of

the tower. A 5 to 10 year capital improvement project list, listing upcoming projects, was also discussed.

Stuart Johnson is requesting a variance to build a garage on the site of a previous garage site. A Public Hearing was held by Planning & Zoning for this variance.

P & Z approved the variance with the stipulations that gutters need to be put on the north side of the garage and an agreement needs to be signed with Johnson and Alan Loxterkamp the property owner next to the future garage. Council member Norm Carlson made a motion to approve the garage variance for Stuart Johnson with the stipulation that gutters be put on the north side of the garage and the agreement is signed. Tony Maciej seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.

Mayor Lange presented to the council Resolution #18-1109A which states the Swanville Lions Club has offers to donate $3000.00 to the City of Swanville to be used toward city park expenses. Mayor Lange also presented to the council Resolution #18-1109B which states the Swanville VFW Post #6037 offers to donate $1000.00 to the City of Swanville to be used toward city park expenses.

Jim Molitor made a motion to accept the donation resolutions #18-1109A from the Swanville Lions Club and #181109B from the Swanville VFW Post #6037.

Deb Wood seconded the motion.

All members voted in favor, motion carried. The council thanks the Swanville Lions Club and the Swanville VFW for the generous donations.

Council members looked over the voting results from Morrison and Todd Counties. The following is a summary of the total votes cast: Mayor 2 year term: Sandy Lange - 95 votes Write-ins – 11

Delinquent utility bills were discussed. All delinquent nonmetered water/utility bills and refuse/ recycling bills will be put on 2019 property taxes any metered water/ utility bills will be sent disconnection notices.

The following claims were presented for payment. Members of the council were furnished with a listing. Deb Wood made a motion to approve the claims. Tony Maciej seconded the motion. All members voted in favor, motion carried.

The next regular monthly meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018.

There being no further business, a motion was made by Tony Maciej and seconded by Norm Carlson to adjourn. All members voted in favor, motion carried.

5 Things You Really Need to Know About the FAFSA

By Anthony ONeal Parents, do you have a rising or current college student? Have you filled out this year’s FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) yet?

You might be thinking, “Nope.

We don’t have time to fill out another form,” But trust me, the potential savings are worth making time for. Here’s are five things you need to know about the FAFSA: The FAFSA isn’t as confusing as it sounds Still wondering what the FAFSA actually is or what it does? It’s pretty simple. Schools use the FAFSA to decide how much money to offer your child for college through student loans and scholarships/grants. Which one of those do we want to avoid? That’s right: student loans!

There are a ton of scholarships and grants available. They can come from your child’s school, the government— even local organizations. Every dollar will help your child steer clear of thousands of dollars in debt. The FAFSA is the key to unlocking all those possibilities, as well as the Federal Work Study Program (another great way for your child to earn money in college).

But truth is, only about 45 percent of high school seniors complete the FAFSA by graduation. This leaves piles of money unused. The U.S. Department of Education awards about $150 billion to students every year. Take the money!

So, why don’t more students complete their FAFSA? Well, there are plenty of myths about the form. Two of the biggest ones are: • “The FAFSA takes too much time to fill out.” No, it doesn’t. It takes less than 30 minutes!

• “Not everyone needs to complete it.” Everyone should fill out the FAFSA! There’s no income cut-off to be eligible for aid, and you never know how much you might qualify for unless you try.

The FAFSA is easy to find All your child needs to do is go to studentaid.ed.gov, the official FAFSA website. You can find the actual form there, plus plenty of helpful info on different types of aid and how to avoid scams.

The FAFSA has a deadline Teens shouldn’t wait until they know where they’re going to college before they fill out the form. The application period opened October 1 and it’s smart to apply as soon as possible.

Deadlines vary by state, so head to the FAFSA website to find out your state’s exact requirements. Your child should also check for deadlines on their potential university’s website.

The FAFSA follow-up process is simple Once your teen has filled out the FAFSA, they’ll receive an EFC (Expected Family Contribution). It’s an estimate of how much money you and your child can afford to contribute to the college fund. The Federal Student Aid office then sends that number to schools to determine the student’s financial need. Generally, the lower the dollar figure, the more aid the student is eligible for.

Set expectations – It is helpful to set realistic expectations for gifts and holiday activities. THE CITY OF GREY EAGLE IS LOOKING FOR A PART TIME/SEASONAL EMPLOYEE. Hours would vary, with approximately 20 hours per week during the summer months, and AS NEEDED during the winter months. Employee would also perform pump checks and as a back- up to the Maintenance Supervisor.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Shovel snow, run snow blower, run snow plow when needed, mowing lawn with both riding and push mower, weed trimming of parks and cemetery, painting curbs and fire hydrants as directed, performing routine maintenance of equipment, cleaning of the Library and collecting trash from city parks and street receptacles.

This position works directly with the Maintenance Supervisor.

Swanville Senior High Student of the Month

Swanville Public School is pleased to announce Hailee Schmidt as the November Senior High Student of the Month. Hailee is the daughter of Darrin and Heidi Schmidt.

Her future plans are to go to college to possibly major in accounting.

Hailee has been in basketball since sixth grade, volleyball since seventh

grade, and she played softball from seventh through ninth grade. She enjoyed being in plays her seventh, eighth, and twelfth grade years. She is on the Student Council and has been on the A Honor Roll every quarter. Hailee has helped out with the Swanville Families Program, and her hobbies are playing basketball and volleyball, hanging out with her friends, and eating food. Her favorite thing about school is seeing all of her friends.

Hailee advises other students to “make the most out of high school because it goes by quicker than you think.”

Swanville Public School is pleased to announce Shane Lambrecht as the November Junior High Student of the Month.

Shane is the son of Mike and Julie Lambrecht. His hobbies consist of hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. In the future, Shane plans to attend college after graduating high school.

School activities he has participated in are the school play, football, baseball, and basketball. He has been in all activities since seventh grade, except he joined basketball in sixth grade. Outside of school, Shane is associated with his local youth group and is a member of Boy Scouts. Shane has been consistently on the honor roll since seventh grade, but his favorite part of school is being able to spend time with his friends.

November 19: At 18:46 issued a car vs deer permit to Victoria Trelstad who had collided with a deer on County 103 near County 2, Grey Eagle.

November 24: At 17:11 received information that a stop sign at the intersection of 165th Avenue and County 38 in Leslie Township had been damaged. It appeared a vehicle had entered the ditch and struck the sign, the vehicle left prior to the reported incident. Anyone with information regarding this crash is urged to contact the Todd County Sheriff’s Office.

November 28: At 22:24 responded to a one vehicle rollover on County 19 near Almond Drive, Grey Eagle in Birchdale Township. Armando Ruiz Tovar was traveling north on County 19 when he lost control of his Ford Explorer due to the icy road conditions. Tovar nor his passenger sustained any injuries. Centre Towing assisted with the accident.

December 4: At 07:29 Anna Wolbeck of rural Burtrum, was traveling south on 341st Ave near Breezy Dr, when a deer entered the roadway, and struck her vehicle. The vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Caravan, sustained damage to the passenger side.
