Don’t let rejection scare you -By Harvey Mackay Anytime you feel like quitting throughout your career, perhaps you’ll remember this story of one of our people: When he was born he was given the nickname “Sparky.” School was very difficult for Sparky, and he failed eighth grade. He also flunked several subjects in high school, the same high school that I attended a few years later.

He wasn’t very good in sports either.

too. Throughout his youth, Sparky was awkward. He felt he was a loser and other kids avoided him.

One thing that was important to him, however, was his artwork. He spent most of his free time drawing. He offered sketches to the high school yearbook, but they were rejected. Later on he submitted his cartoons to many publications and studios, including Disney, and he was turned down by every single one.

Sparky was drafted into World War II, later stating, “The Army taught me all I needed to know about loneliness.”

After the war he dated a woman who rejected his marriage proposal and then she married another man the following year.

He decided to tell his life story in cartoons and was picked up by United Features Artists in 1950, but they forced him to rename his comic strip from “Li’l

Folks” to “Peanuts.” Charles Schulz did not like the idea, but he was ecstatic that his comics were finally getting published.

Peanuts would go on to become a cultural phenomenon because people could relate to the lovable loser main character, Charlie Brown, who reminded people of embarrassing and painful moments. But he never gave up. Nor did Charles Schulz.

We all face discouragement and rejection in our lives, but we have a choice in how we handle it. You can’t avoid rejection. The sooner you find out that rejection is a part of life, the better off you will be. It’s how you deal with it that sets you apart.

A prime example comes from Charlie Brown himself. In the first cartoon panel, he tells his buddy, “I learned something in school today. I signed up for folk guitar, computer programming, stained glass, art, shoemaking and a natural foods workshop.

“Instead, I got spelling, history, arithmetic, and two study periods.”

The next panel shows Charlie’s pal asking, “So, what did you learn?”

In his infinite wisdom, Charlie replies, “I learned that what you sign up for in life, and what you get, are two different things.”

“The Good Old Days” -By Tom Kuehne Lysol When many of us think about the most used and most familiar home medicines, we remember Lysol. It was the medicine of choice for many mothers.

It was used as a treatment for injuries whenever there was a possibility of infection. Many individuals have personal experience showing proof that Lysol actually did work.

In years past, there was a constant fear of a disease called Lockjaw. It was said to appear when an injury involved horse manure, cow manure or any item that had rust on it’s surface. These exposures include virtually any part of our outside surroundings in a farm background. As a result, Lysol was involved any time there was an injury to our bodies.

The typical method of injury treatment was to put some hot water in a basin, add Lysol and soak the injured location in the mixture. If it was a larger open wound, the soaking time was longer. If the wound was a puncture, this would also require movement of the injured area while being soaked, since Lysol would draw poison out of the wound. The soaking process was not actually painful, which is different from many other cures which sometimes were more painful than the injury. An example of this is covering the injury with Iodine or Alcohol after the Lysol soak. That would burn....

Many children spent most of their summer hours not wearing shoes. This practice would more readily expose the kid to foot injuries. Going barefoot included walking in the barn, cowyards and pastures which all contained remnants of cow poop. My mother didn’t encourage walking around the farm in bare feet. Her reasoning was the exposure to dirt and lockjaw.

Lockjaw was actually today’s Tetanus. Today we get Tetanus shots to avoid the infection, so Lysol is disappearing from medicine cabinets.

and took off the end of his finger. It was actually only held on by the fingernail.

After a Lysol and hot water soak, mother took white tape and very tightly taped the tip of the finger back on. Several days later the finger was shown to a doctor, who, after examining the wound, said that he would not have been able to do a better reattachment.

Another reader became tangled in a piece of barbed wire, which “cut his lower leg to the bone.” After the Lysol treatment, addition of ground red pepper to stop the bleeding and tape work to hold the wound together, the individual was back to normal in a couple of weeks.

Another individual told of a very serious cut to his arm while sharpening a sickle from a grain binder. His arm healed with a very obvious scar, but he feels that Lysol prevented infection.

We rarely hear of someone getting Tetanus infection today, but more than 50,000 people around the world die from it each year.

In the past, we very rarely visited the doctor. Mother, the home doctor, used methods which were successful for a neighbor. Doctors may not be in their office. They may be out making a house-call or delivering a baby. So if you went all the way to town and the doctor wasn’t there, you just wasted the trip and the time. Make sense?

me. I’m grateful because we never know if our paths might cross again.

My absolute biggest rule on rejection is to never say no for the other person.

Don’t anticipate rejection because then you won’t even try, let alone give your best effort. If you don’t believe in what you are selling, how can you expect a prospect to buy it?

I’m careful to analyze every rejection.

I always want to know why people say no, and I’m not afraid to ask.

It’s helpful to remember past achievements. Look back to your past successes. Never pass up an opportunity to hone your skills and be ready for better times.

Mackay’s Moral: As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I was being rejected from something good, I was being re-directed to something better.

Obituaries Wilbur W. Tesch

F u n e r a l services were held Monday, July 30, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Wilbur W. Tesch who died Wednesday at the Long Prairie Hospital. The Rev. Noah Wehrspann officiated and burial was in the

On June 6th, 1953 Wilbur was united in marriage to Phyllis Raschke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grey Eagle. In the Spring of 1954, they purchased a farm near Long Prairie. Together they dairy farmed for 35 years. Wilbur was a member of the Long Prairie American Legion Post. He also served on various boards, including the Long Prairie Township Board for 51 years and on the Board of Directors for Lake Country State Bank for 20 years. He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church and participated on many of the committees of the church. After retiring from the family farm, he enjoyed gardening and driving around in the Ranger checking out the crops. Wilbur was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Wilbur is survived by his loving wife Phyllis of 65 years; children, Mary (Mark) Collins of Long Prairie, LuAnn (Dennis) Zigan of Long Prairie, and Jane (Hermie Imdieke) Zirbes of Long Prairie, brother, Kenneth Tesch of Long Prairie. He also has 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Sarazin.

Wilbur was born on October 27th, 1927 on the family farm in Round Prairie Township to William and Anna (Hoeppner) Tesch. He attended Greenwood Country school for 6 years and Trinity Lutheran school for 2 years. He had graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1945.

He worked at Long Prairie Produce until he was drafted into the Army in March 1946 to August 1947. He also served during the Korean War from January 1951 to August 1952.

He was one of many great grand children of Anton Marty,who was one of the first settlers in this area shortly after the civil war and also a descendent of the Meaghers, Waldvogels, Neimans and McDermonds who also were some early settlers here in the later 1800s . Richard will be missed dearly but his sprit will live on forever by many.

He is survived by his children Ermanna (Johnny) Ziberna of Triste, Italy, Rosalia Mcdermond of Puyallup, Wa., Angiolina (Robert) Lillico of Tacoma, Wa, Ernesto McDermond of Tacoma Wa., 15+ grandchildren and one brother William (Joanie) of Sauk Centre, Mn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mirella, friend Kitty, two sons Clinton Richard the first and Clinton Richard the second and two brothers, James and Duane.

His children are planning on having a memorial service for him at a later date in the Tacoma area.

Richard Dale McDermond, age 88 of Spanaway Wa. formally of Grey Eagle Mn. passed away July 22, 2018 at his home where he was under hospice care for Lymphoma.

Richard was born to Clint and Rose (Marty) McDermond May 30,1930 in Grey Eagle Township, growing up on a small farm and attended grade school at the old Swiss Country School, graduated from Grey Eagle High School in 1949. He joined the army right after high school and spent over 20 years on active duty most of the time in the medical field.

In 1952 while stationed in Trieste, Italy, he met and married Palmira (Mirella) Torreggiani and together had six children. During his service career he was stationed at many bases here in the USA, Italy, France and Germany. His last base was in Tacoma Wa. where he was discharged and had lived in that area since. In 1989 his wife Mirella passed away and after that he met and spent the past many years with Kathryn (Kitty) Ridlon who just passed away earlier this year. Richard had a pleasing personality and was very compassionate to others. One of his favorite things to do was

Dolores A. Warga, 90 year old resident of Holdingford, MN passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Community Country Church in Holdingford, MN with Rev. Gregg Valentine officiating. Burial will take place at South Elmdale Congregational Church Cemetery in rural Holdingford, MN. A visitation will be held from 10-11 A.M. on Thursday at the Community Country Church in Holdingford, MN. Dolores was born March 22, 1928 in Kandota Township of Todd County, MN to Floyd and Martha (Gogerty) Norton.

Dolores graduated from Villard High School in 1946. She worked in what was then known as a “dime” store in St. Cloud and helped her siblings with their families until she married Ray Warga on June 18, 1955, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud, MN. Dolores

spent the rest of her life dedicated to her family and being a farming partner with Ray on their family farm. She was a member of Community Country Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, was involved in the Ladies Missionary Society and assisted with the treasurer’s position and church recordkeeping. Dolores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who had a very strong faith in God. She will be remembered for her service and hospitality to others. She shared her love of embroidering, gardening, baking and cooking with many family and friends.

Dolores will be missed by her children, Tom Warga of Ashby, MN, Bruce (Cheryl) Warga of Holdingford, MN and Ann (Dave) Anderson of Ashby, MN; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Margaret Bachman of Maple Grove, MN, Betty Warga, of Albany, MN; and Joan Warga, St. Cloud, MN; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Rose Mary Agnes Moscho was born March 14, 1931 in St. Martin, Minnesota to Nick and Rose (Kollman) Moscho. She attended country school in St. Martin until the 8th grade. On May 26, 1952, she married Hubert Hinnekamp at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. The couple farmed north of Brooten and attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. When they retired, they moved to town and became members of St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten. Rosie cooked at Belgrade Nursing Home for many

years.

Rosie was a member of the Red Hats Club, Widows Club, Christian Mothers, and Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards, bowling, cooking, baking for relatives and friends, and most of all, spending time with her family, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Debbie (Ken) Beste of Sauk Centre, Bonnie (Duane) Winter of Brooten, Bruce (Lois) Hinnenkamp of Brooten, Yvonne (Todd) Switajewski of Pine River, and Karla Edenloff of Osakis; 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Virgil) Fuchs of Paynesville; sisters-in-law, Betty Moscho of St. Martin, Leona Blenker of Melrose, Ida Pung of Melrose, Marcella Hinnenkamp of Melrose, and Jeanette Zehrer of Melrose.

Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Hinnenkamp on April 23, 2007; son, Gary Hinnenkamp; parents; brothers, sisters, and in-law, Wilfred (Marie) Moscho, Marie (Al) Klassen, Irene (Edmond) Schulzetenberg, Katherine (Tony) Funk, Joe (Leona) Moscho, and Nick Moscho; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Moscho.

Shirley Ann Rose Von Wahlde Shirley Ann Rose Von Wahlde, age 77 of Sauk Centre, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at her home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, July 31st at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Greg Paffel officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.

Shirley Ann Rose Kampsen was born April 18, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Norbert and Lucille (Loch) Kampsen.

Shirley attended country school near Elrosa and graduated from Belgrade High School in 1959. She worked for Pierson Ford as a secretary after high school. Shirley married Elmer Von Wahlde on May 22, 1962 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa.

They moved to their farm in 1962, where she was a farmer’s wife until they moved off the farm in 2007. In 1994 Shirley went to work for Centre Dairy as a secretary until her retirement in 2011. After retiring, Shirley spent much of her time volunteering for Holy Family School and CentraCare Health in Sauk Centre. Every Wednesday morning, she would meet with friends for “coffee

Dave Says -By Dave Ramsey Dear Dave, I’m a landlord, and I own a few houses and duplexes around town. Recently, I made the mistake of renting to some tenants who were not respectful of my property. Do you have any tips for selecting good renters?

-Joe Dear Joe, In my experience, most landlords simply aren’t thorough enough with the screening process when it comes to potential tenants. It’s difficult to get to know someone — especially in this kind of situation — without spending some face-to-face time with them and digging into their backgrounds a little.

I have several rental properties, so here are a few tips that have served me well over the years. Always require a big deposit up front. In addition, pull a credit bureau report on prospective renters. I also drive by the place they’re currently living to see how they take care of things. To me, this is a great indication of how responsible they are, and how they might treat myproperty.

Finally, get proof they’ve regularly made past rental payments on time.

This is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You need to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) against this collector and his company.

Record the conversation the next time they call. Tell them at the beginning you’ll be taping any interaction you have with them from that point forward, and ask your relatives to do the same.

That way, you’ll have proof to hand over to the FTC or the attorney general.

There’s nothing wrong with collecting a debt. If you’re a collector or creditor, it’s money that is legally owed to you. Still, you must do it within the confines of the law.

The 30th Annual Minnesota Sports Federation 12UAA State Baseball Tournament was held in Sartell July 27-29. The Bandits consist of boys from Holdingford and Upsala. Friday started with pool play with the Bandits defeating Lake Crystal 9-3. The Bandits went on to play Marshall Orange in their pool winning 10-0, taking first place. Saturday continued with the Bandits holding off Morris with a score of 8-5. The tournament concluded on Sunday with the Bandits defeating Fairmont in the quarterfinal game 6-1. They moved on to the semifinal game where they faced Little Falls winning 10-2. Bandits moved on to the championship game taking on St. Michael Albertville winning 24-1 in five innings. In the three day tournament the Hold-Up Bandits scored 67 runs and only allowed 12. Pictured are (front from left) Hunter Boeckermann, C.J. Psalm 98 begins with a call to celebrate: “Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things.” This call to celebrate was not for anything that the people did or had accomplished. It was a call to celebrate what God had done for them. It was a call to celebrate the “marvelous things” that God had done for them. This phrase “marvelous things” refers to God’s direct, supernatural interventions in the life of “His people.” It refers to God’s power and authority, His protection and care, His interest in the well-being of His people on this earth.

And as important as those gifts of God are, they cannot compare to the gift of His salvation and deliverance!

There are many special events and days in our lives and the life of our nation that give us reasons to celebrate.

Dear Motor Medics, What can I do about rust on my Suburban?

I’ve had this 2003 Sub since new and it only has 90k miles on it but the body is starting to rust on the bottom of all of the doors which has now crept around to the front side of them and it also has a rust hole in the drivers and passenger side corners right at the rear bumper, other than that it is perfect inside and out. I just want it to look nice while I drive some more miles out of it but my local body shop is not excited about doing the repairs.

-Milton in Pennsylvania Dear Milton, Rust is primarily two kinds, surface and major. Surface rust is not as bad if you catch it and remove it early and protect the surface with good paint.

Major rust on a car is like a cancer and it eats its way from the inside out and it is hard to stop. By the time you see the rust it has taken a secure foothold on the metal surrounding where you see it and has weakened the panel to the point of a hole. To remove it you need to perform major surgery and cut all of the rusted metal out and replace it then protect the area and repaint or it will return quickly.

It is time consuming and expensive and many shops don’t like to do it.

Seriously though, it could go either way. You have to ask yourself, am I willing and able to remove my seats from my car and then remove the covers from them and put them back together.

If you are comfortable with that then it’s time to visit the local parts store and see if the heating elements for your vehicle are available as stock replacements. If they are then it’s as simple as plugging them in once you have removed the seat covers and old elements. If they are not then you can go with aftermarket heaters you can get online or from a car accessory store locally. They then have to be wired but work well as an aftermarket alternative to the expensive factory installed units. Good luck!

State finances are strong; tour of Minn. ag hotbed

By State Rep. Paul Anderson Two national bond rating agencies last week upgraded and re-affirmed Minnesota’s credit rating. Fitch Rating, along with Standard and Poors, gave the state their highest “AAA” bond rating. The immediate result of this rating will allow the state to receive the lowest interest rates possible when selling bonds for projects contained in the Capital Investment bill. The rating also signals that Minnesota, overall, is in sound financial condition.

One of the main factors the agencies used in making their determination was the pension bill passed by the Legislature during the last session and signed into law by Gov. Mark Dayton. It was truly a bi-partisan effort and puts the state’s pension plans on a path to become fully funded in the future. The pension bill, passed unanimously by both chambers of the Legislature, affects over 500,000 Minnesotans and eliminates over $3 billion of the state’s unfunded pension liabilities.

I traveled down to Fairmont last week to take part in the Modern Ag Tour of Martin County. Situated along the Iowa border, it’s one of the ag powerhouse counties in the nation. Martin County is among the national leaders in pork production and state leaders in corn and soybean production.

After several years of great crops in Martin County, that’s not the case in 2018 as heavy rains this spring and summer have left large areas of land drowned-out.

As our bus traveled to the various places we visited, the result of too much rain was evident as some areas were still under water, in addition to driving past a county road blocked off because of standing water.

We toured a CHS soybean processing plant in Fairmont, where 55 million bushels of beans are processed every year. The plant operates 24/7 and can handle up to 1,200 trucks a day during the height of harvest. The beans are crushed to yield soy meal for animal feed and also oil. The oil is then sent to Mankato for further processing. About 72 percent of a soybean becomes meal, while 20 percent of the bean becomes oil.

There are also two ethanol plants in Martin County, where corn is converted into fuel used to help power our cars. We were told that because of the large livestock industry in the area, in addition to the ethanol plants, Martin County is a net importer of corn. The result is a basis for corn that made me envious. Basis is the difference between the futures price of a commodity and the actual cash price received by the farmer.

Because of that high demand, the smaller basis there results in a price that’s usually 15 to 20 cents a bushel more than we receive around here.

Another busy weekend coming up with parades in Forada, Albany, and Greenwald. Weather conditions last week with moderate temps and low humidities were ideal for outdoor activities. Another warm-up is forecast for later this week as we get back to more traditional July and August weather conditions. I have wheat that looks ready to harvest, so we’ll find out how that yields. The hot and humid conditions experienced earlier this summer may have had a negative impact on this year’s crop. The price of wheat has jumped up recently as concern mounts about both the quantity and quality of the crop.

Sandy Lange presented a report on the Swan River Canoe path. The Conservation Corp cleared a path in the river and marked the direction. The board

approved signs she showed that will be posted that stated rules, start and stop areas. The supervisors passed along concerns of some land owners that were worried about people going on their property along the river. She said they would post more signs if there are problems.

Sup. Berscheit made a motion to appoint Shirley Hulinsky,

Pam Throener, Brenda Schwanke, Bonnie Alsleben, Mike Holmgren, Chuck Macy, and Nancy Hillman as election judges with Shirley being head judge; pending completion of training.

The Chair received notice that someone is moving a house along Morrison Line Road. He

checked out the area and tree trimming is needed in that area.

Sup. Johnson will contact tree trimming contractor to get work done.

Bitz and Piecez -By Pastor Bitz John the Baptist - Mark 6:14-29 At the very beginning of Mark (1:14) we are told about John the Baptizer who is a messenger who will prepare the way of the savior. Not much is said about John. Mark ties him to the fulfillment of the prophesy made by Isaiah. Nothing about his jumping in the womb when Mary visited. No declaration by John that Jesus is the lamb of God, just that he was proclaiming a baptism of repentance, how he was clothed, and that he was preparing the way for the messiah, for Jesus.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God according to Mark is progressing quickly. We are in chapter 6 of 16 and the focus shifts from Jesus to John for some reason. Why? If we want to know why and for what reason the account of John’s death at the hand of Herod is recorded in the book of Mark we need to look for answers in the book of Mark. If you are reading and rereading the book of Mark you might have already seen the connection Mark makes with John as Jesus’ path-preparer. John preaches a message of repentance, Jesus preaches repentance.

Now we are told how John dies at the hands of Herod. John’s life and death get caught up in the politics of man. John preached God’s word and died for it. Jesus will bring people God and he will die for it too. At this point in the gospel Herod is trying to figure out who Jesus Continued from Pg 9

Since Mark has already told us, we know that Jesus is the Christ, I.e. the messiah, the Son of God. We know that Jesus is not John raised from the dead nor is he Elijah returned nor another prophet, he is the Messiah. John was sent to prepare the way for Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God. The death of John now in chapter 6 prepares us as readers for what will be happening to Jesus. As Jesus preaches and teaches God’s word Jesus will also be caught up the turmoil of religion and politics and be crucified.

In the United States we are not free from persecution. By taking the truth of God’s Word into the public realm we make enemies. John preached a message of repentance, Jesus preaches a message of repentance we preach that same message today and people might attack us for doing this good and noble deed. Why is that? God forgives all who repent.

Why don’t people want forgiveness?

There is a life and death battle going when repentance is preached because God is trying to kill and slay the sinner through Jesus. Sinners fight back every way they can. Amen.

July 23, 2018: On Monday morning, Deputy Dennis Kern took several reports of vandalism in the City of Holdingford.

The porta potty near the playground at the school was burned sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Staff did not have time to report it until Monday morning but it was noticed Saturday. The other calls on Monday morning had to do with several buildings in town being spray painted with various words and the initials “DM.” The buildings that were vandalized were Stearns Bank, The Historical Society, Old Corner Pizza and the Easy Clean building. Those acts of vandalism likely occurred overnight Sunday into Monday morning. Deputy Kern and soon-tobe School Resource Officer Eric Schultz continue to investigate the matter and are working to identify those responsible.

If you have any information on this vandalism or other suspicious activity in Holdingford, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 320-251-4240 and ask for Deputy Kern or Schultz.

UPDATE: As of Friday morning, July 24th, Deputy Schultz has identified two juveniles responsible for the spray painting.

That information will be forwarded to the Juvenile Division of the Stearns County Attorney’s Office. These juveniles do not appear to be responsible for the burning of the porta potty and we are still looking for information regarding that.

July 30, 2018:, the Stearns County Communications Center received a report of a pole shed on fire at 32192 Fifth Lake Road in Albany Township. This is located about three miles southeast of Albany. The Albany, Avon and Chain of Lakes Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire. The 30x190 pole shed is a complete loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined and is still under investigation at this time.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Albany Police Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance all assisted on scene.

July 30, 2018:, On July 11, 2018, the Avon Police Department contacted the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and referred a sexual assault investigation to the Sheriff’s Office due to a potential conflict-of-interest.

ceived information from a parishioner of the Avon Community Church reporting that Pastor Charles Norman Pelkey, 49, was having a sexual relationship with another parishioner during the course of ongoing counseling sessions. Pelkey, at the time of the report, was the Chaplain for the Avon Police Department which is the basis for the conflict.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into the allegations and confirmed that Pelkey was the Pastor at the Avon Community Church. As part of Pelkey’s ministerial duties, he provided religious and spiritual advice, family counseling, marriage counseling, and individual counseling.

In 2012, the victim in this matter sought out family counseling for a short period of time. In November 2017, the victim sought religious and spiritual guidance from Pelkey. While still providing counseling, Pelkey, in March of this year, began a sexual relationship with the victim. The sexual relationship continued until May 2018.

During that time Pelkey continued to provide religious and marital guidance to the victim. Minnesota Law prohibits a member of the clergy from engaging in a sexual act during the course of a meeting in which the victim sought or received religious or spiritual advice, aid, or comfort from the suspect in private or during a period of time in which the victim was meeting on an ongoing basis with the suspect to seek or receive religious or spiritual advice, aid, or comfort in private. Consent is not a defense.

On July 30, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. Pelkey turned himself in to deputies at the Stearns County Law Enforcement Center and was booked pending a court appearance on the charge of Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.

July 24, 2018: At 18:14 David Larson (59) of rural Long Prairie reported that someone had flattened the tires on one of his tractors in the last couple of days. Larson also reported the theft of some small items from his property.

July 26, 2018: At 14:36 it was reported that the street sign at Amigo Trl and Amigo Dr south of Grey Eagle had been stolen. the theft happened about a month ago.

July 31, 2018: At 11:26 Lost and Found Item. A gold color single fold leather wallet was lost somewhere between Browerville and Long Prairie on 07-27-2019.

Caller think she may have set the wallet on the top of the car and drove off forgetting it.

New DWI law went into effect Aug. 1 Little Alan’s Law provides consistent application of DWI laws A new law that went into effect Aug. 1 means people convicted of driving while intoxicated – regardless of the vehicle they’re driving – will lose their driver’s license and be prohibited from operating motor vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles, motorboats and snowmobiles. The state Legislature passed the law following the death of 8-year-old Alan Geisenkoetter Jr., who died in January after being struck by a snowmobile driven by a man whose driver’s license was revoked after multiple DWI offenses.

Before the law change, people convicted of a DWI in a highway-licensed vehicle still could legally operate ATVs, motorboats and snowmobiles. The changes apply to violations that occur on or after Aug. 1.
