Or is it inspired more by pride in one’s work? I vote for doing the best you can at every opportunity, regardless of your line of work.

Perhaps because works of art often outlast the artist’s lifespan, the creators are more inclined to strive for utter perfection. When Frederic Auguste Bartholdi completed his 152-foot-high Statue of Liberty in 1884, there were no airplanes or helicopters to inspect its detail from the air. It was installed in New York harbor two years later as a gift from the people of France to commemorate 100 years of American independence.

Yet many years later, when helicopters can hover close overhead, it is clearly evident that the sculptor meticulously finished every detail of the lady’s coiffure and crown without “cheating” in any area that could not be seen from the ground.

Clearly Bartholdi was a perfectionist.

He wanted to create a thing of beauty that was perfect from every point of view and over any period of time. He did his absolute best because he could.

That’s a good principle to follow when

creating anything of lasting value.

“Perfect” may be the ultimate praise, but trying to attain perfection can cause stress, hinder efficiency and create unnecessary conflicts with the people around you. A more productive goal is excellence: meeting the highest standards agreed upon for oneself or by a group.

I wish I knew who delivered this choice quote, attributed only to an anonymous source: “Excellence can be achieved if you . . . risk more than others think is safe, love more than others think is wise, dream more than others think is practical, and expect more than others think is possible.”

I find that if I set a goal for myself, get the best coaching available, practice the right concepts and give it all I’ve got, there is nothing more I can do. I’ve done the best I can humanly do, so there is no reason to stress out and be nervous.

I take my lead from my longtime friend, Coach Lou Holtz: “Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.”

“The Good Old Days” -By Tom Kuehne Motor Bikes

This story moves into the 1950’s.

The kids in the neighborhood were beginning to become more interested in horsepower and the fun it could create with a little engineering.

It began with a neighbor boy who had installed a Maytag motor ahead of the handlebars on his bicycle. The motor turned a cone-shaped cylinder, which when lowered to the side of the front wheel of his bicycle, propelled the bike quite well. This idea started our inventive minds to work.

My cousin down the road invented another approach to a motorbike. He removed the rear wheel and pedals and installed two straight metal brackets, which were previously used to raise

and lower a horse-powered cultivator.

The brackets were attached to the pedal housing with a long bolt and another long bolt was placed through the original rear wheel location. The rear wheel was then placed about 2 feet behind it’s original location with another long bolt. A v-belt pulley was attached to the spokes of the wheel. A Briggs motor was attached to the area between the location of the original wheel and the new rear wheel location. A brake was created with a hinge with a piece of oak, covered by a bolted-on piece of tire mounted behind the rear wheel. To make the bike go, a foot pedal was pushed forward, moving the motor forward, tightening the v-belt and away we went. Another foot pedal on the other side caused the brake to rub on the rear tire slowing it down. Both of the pedals used bale wire to accomplish their work.

I placed a Briggs motor between the frame-work in front of the seat. I put a 2 inch pulley on the shaft of the motor and attached a pulley to the spokes on

Clearly, attitude is central to assessing your ability to do the best you can do.

To move from strict perfectionism to the pursuit of excellence, may I recommend you consider these suggestions: • Be realistic. When you find yourself becoming frantic about a goal, stop and ask, “Is this goal really worth all the frustration I’m experiencing?”

You cannot do your best work when you are preoccupied with worry.

• Establish clear expectations. If you know what’s expected of you, you can better track your progress and draw boundaries when needed. Then you can move forward with the project instead of trying to alter it just for appearance’s sake.

• Identify your triggers. Learn to recognize the factors that lead or contribute to your perfectionist thinking and behaviors – and avoid them. That does not mean you give any less than your best – just be aware that you can undermine a terrific outcome by nitpicking minor details.

• Delegate. Many perfectionists mistakenly believe that they – and only they – can complete the task at hand.

Allow other people to assist you, which will improve the odds that a group will more easily reach excellence.

• Know what’s important. Ask yourself, “What’s most important about this project?” Consult with friends, colleagues and your boss. Analyzing your objectives, then narrowing down key points and agreements, allows everyone to measure his or her performance accurately.

the rear wheel. A longer pedal with another idler pulley was pushed forward to tighten the v-belt and made the bike go. The brakes no longer worked, since the first time the original brakes were applied, they broke. The bike was clocked by a speedometer of a car at 52 mph. I didn’t stop to consider that this was being done with a machine without brakes and even in perfect condition, should not have traveled at that speed.

One Sunday afternoon, we took our bikes to town and met another cousin, who had a store-bought moped. Of course a race followed. It started at one end of the two block long main street.

The finish line was a very sharp left turn, which if the turn was not made, the bike would go through a ditch, over a sizable hump, followed by an aerial landing on the rail-road tracks. The elongated bike won, but came to rest all over the railroad tracks. No serious injuries were experienced, so we pulled the debris off of the tracks, climbed on my bike and rode 5 miles to his father’s farm. Thank goodness his folks were not home, so we hooked the hay wagon behind the John Deere B and drove back to town

Obituaries Tom L. Schwieters

Tom L. Schwieters, age 67 of Melrose, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 12, 2016, at his home, after a ten year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m.

Wednesday, August 17, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Greenwald with Rev. Marvin Enneking officiating and Rev. Mitchell Bechtold and Rev. Daniel Ohmann concelebrating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Thomas Leo Schwieters was born February 18, 1949 in Melrose, Minnesota to Herbert and Aurelia (Stalboerger) Schwieters. He joined the Army National Guard Reserves. On May 30, 1970 he married Barbara Schoenberg at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill.

Tom was the owner and operator of South Town Builders in Melrose for over 40 years.

He enjoyed Nascar and sporting events.

Tom’s passion was being outdoors – from chasing elk in Wyoming to turkey hunting in South Dakota. He loved it all. Tom loved spending time with his family, most of all his 9 grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Melrose, Knights of Columbus Council 1633, and the American Legion

Ann Sadlo, 78, of Browerville, passed away on August 16, 2016.

Funeral services for Ann will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville with Pastor Del Moen officiating.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 21, 2016, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville and on the day of the funeral one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Browerville.

Serving as urn bearers were Bobbi Jo Schwieters and Max Thelen. Cross bearer was Gabe Schwieters and scripture bearer was Will Schwieters. Flag bearer was Torii Schwieters. Gift bearers were Charlie Thelen, and Nora, Amelia, and Frank Schwieters. Readers were Mary Schwieters and Peg Winkelmann. Eucharistic Ministers were Adam Meyer, Linda Van Beck, and Mary Spanier. The eulogy was read by Mike and Reed Hiltner.

Arrangements were made with PattonSchad Funeral and Cremation Services of Melrose.

Ann Marie was born on December 23, 1937, in Sherburne to Gordon & Marcella (Gesking) Paul. On August 25, 1956, Ann married Roman Sadlo. Together they farmed in Moran Township milking cows and raising crops. Ann worked for many years as the cook at the catholic school in Browerville and the Central Todd County Care Center.

Ann enjoyed her animals, shopping, going out to eat and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Ann was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Browerville.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; husband Roman, brothers: Gayle Paul and Terry Paul and brother-in-law Marvin Jacobs.

Ann is survived by her children: Bob (Dolly) of Browerville, Mike of Clarissa, Sam (Cathy) of Browerville; siblings: Joan Jacobs of Waite Park, Chuck (Delaine) Paul of Long Prairie, Mary (Jim) Timp of New Munich, Colleen Paul of New Brighton and Corinne (Carl) Kruzel of Missouri; grandchildren: Cole (Jen) Sadlo of Alexandria, Erica (Tracy) Popkes of Crosby, Angie Wolfe Sadlo of Browerville, Samuel Sadlo of Clarissa, Alan (Marissa) Sadlo of Verndale and Brent Sadlo of Browerville and 8 great grandchildren.

Esther R. Beuning, age 89 of St. Rosa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. Benedicts Senior Community in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 19 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa with Rev. Vigil Petermeier, osc officiating and Rev. Daniel Walz concelebrating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m.

Esther Rose Korte was born November 1, 1926 in St. Rosa, Minnesota to Bernard and Adelheid (Klasen) Korte. After the death of her parents in 1931 and 1932 respectively, she and her siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents, John and Anna (Bueckers) Klasen.

She was united in marriage to Alphonse “Al” Beuning on June 18, 1946 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in St. Rosa. The couple farmed near St. Rosa until 1996. She worked as a nurse’s assistant at the Pine Villa Nursing Home for 15 years and was a

L e o n a r d Salber, 93, of Browerville, MN, passed away on August 13, 2016.

Funeral service for Leonard was held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church in Randall with Fr. Jimmy Joseph officiating. Interment was held at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Randall.

Leonard was born February 11, 1923, in Petersburg, NE, to George & Anna (Schmitt) Salber. Leonard enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947. In 1947, he married Delores Wagner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth.

Leonard farmed for 47 years. After his retirement he took up full-time flower gardening. Leonard enjoyed playing cards and searching for and collecting “treasures”.

He rode a three wheeler through his woods enjoying all of nature. Leonard kept a daily journey for 40 years. He always had a smile and a joke to tell. Leonard especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Esther enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Joe Beuning and his wife, Bev of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Urban Beuning and his wife, Arlene of St. Rosa, Bernie Beuning and his wife, Linda of St. Cloud, Ada Daniel and her husband, Gerry of Golden Valley, Michael Beuning and his wife, Judy of St. Rosa, Geralyn Beuning of Eden Prairie, Mary Niehaus and her husband, Butch of Melrose, Paul Beuning and his wife, Mary of St. Rosa, Earl Beuning of Mayer, and Sara Toenies and her husband, Steve of Melrose; 29 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; sister, Caroline Bielejeski of Holdingford and sister-in-law, Arlene Beuning of Tacoma, Washington.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Al Beuning on November 13, 2001; parents; daughter, Georgianna Beuning in 1954; an infant daughter in 1960; brothers, Lawrence, Urban and Julius; sisters, Alice Kerfeld and Rica Korte; brothersin-law, Hubert Bielejeski, Virgil Kerfeld, Ralph Beuning, Al Wilhelm; sisters-inlaw, Dorothy Korte, Eileen Korte, Erma Wilhelm, and Catherine Beuning; and also by her extended Klasen family, Ben, Ann, Lawrence, Bertha, Hubert, Rose Hoppe, Tony, Amanda, Catherine, and Sophie .

Arrangements were made with PattonSchad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.

Leonard was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in Randall, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and served on the Little Elk Township Board.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; wife Delores; sons: David & James; brothers: Raymond, Clarence, Joe, Willie and Jerome; sisters: Celestine Salber, Sister Anella Salber OSB and Lucille Lordeman and sister-in-law Rita Salber.

Glenn Peter Luberts was born April 11, 1948 in Long Prairie, Minnesota, to Edwin H. and Elvera M. (Tabatt) Luberts. He grew up in Long Prairie and graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1966. He joined the United States Navy in 1966 and served until 1969 and then in the Navy Reserves until 1972. He lived in several communities in Central Minnesota doing TV and appliance repair.

Glenn loved to hunt, especially deer, bear, and turkey. He enjoyed camping in the North Country or as he referred to it as “God’s Country.” He also liked to read and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harland, sisters: Ruth Ensign and Noreen Sandy and brother-inlaw George Sandy Jr. Kathy is survived by her siblings: Ron (Gerri) Roman of Foley, Jeanice (Clarence) Adelman of Sauk Rapids and Mary Jo (George) Santer of Browerville; brother-inlaw Jim Ensign of Andover and many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.

Glenn also played baseball and softball for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Glenn is survived by his children, Lonny (Paula) Luberts, Sauk Centre; Leslie (Chad) Thesing, Albany; Julie (Shawn) Hansen, Royalton; and Joni (Jonathan) Young, Long Prairie; his mother, Elvera Luberts, Long Prairie; siblings, Nancy Schwanke, Hutchinson; Pete (Tina) Luberts, John (DeDe Szech) Luberts, and DeAnna (Dale) Theiler, all of Long Prairie; brothers-in-law, Jim Rosch, Long Prairie, and Jim Fahlin, Browerville; also 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, two daughters, Stacey and Nichole, and three sisters, Mary Luella, Lucy Rosch, and Linda Fahlin, brothers-in-law, Randy Schwanke, Jerry Line, and John Wozniak.

M a r g i e Backowski, 89 year old resident of Flensburg, MN passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN with Father Joe Backowski officiating and Father Jimmy Joseph concelebrating. Burial took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery in Flensburg, MN. Margie Charlene Pantzke Backowski was born at home in Culdrum Township on April 3, 1927 to Edwin Fredrick Pantzke and Alice Johnson Pantzke. Margie attended District 140, a one room school house in Culdrum Township and later graduated from Little Falls High School in 1944. After graduation, Margie worked at Victor Clothing in Little Falls until her marriage on May 26, 1948 to Philip Backowski in Flensburg, Minnesota. After their marriage, Margie and Philip settled on Philip’s family’s dairy, hog and crop farm in Flensburg, where together they raised seven children and the place Margie called home for over fifty years.

Margie was generally found at home, working in the kitchen, canning, cooking and baking while listening to KLTF radio in the background. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, so that she could provide produce for her family and anyone else that was in need. There was often a bouquet of fresh cut seasonal flowers on the kitchen table when the flowers were in bloom.

When Margie wasn’t taking care of the behind the scenes work on the farm, her life revolved around her family, faith and community. Margie was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Flensburg, where she served as a rosary sodality member, funeral lunch group leader, parish council member and was available to help whenever help was needed. Margie was very devoted to her faith beliefs and the goodness of others. Generosity, compassion, acceptance and caring came easily for Margie. Because of these values, many people sought her company, friendship and fellowship, including the special friendship of the Franciscan Sisters.

Margie was very involved in the community, serving as Clerk for the Village of Flensburg for 28 years. Once her children were grown, Margie had the opportunity to

share her “nurse” qualities by working for Morrison County Public Health as a Home Health Aide for 13 years.

Margie made a point to spend quality time with the love of her life, best friend… husband, Philip. Together they enjoyed fishing sunfish and walleyes on local lakes, playing cards, dancing, picking wild blueberries and being with family and friends. They never missed an opportunity to be with their children and grandchildren... having picnics in the woods, providing child care, attending school events, birthday parties, sporting events (especially baseball games), graduations and weddings. Margie’s children and grandchildren recall cherished time with her, preparing and delivering meals to the field, husking corn, shelling peas, making sauerkraut and pickles, butchering chickens, hauling hogs to market, hanging clothes on the line and playing cards.

The past four years of Margie’s life were spent at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, where she was cared for with dignity and respect.

Margie will be remembered for her comfort and acceptance of others, her wit and humor, her steadfast faith in God, her life giving values, and her dedicated love shown to her family.

Margie is survived by her seven children: Bill (Sandy) Backowski of Little Falls, Jeanne (Ralph) Wilson of Princeton, Robert (MaryAnne) Backowski of Little Falls, Cindy (Robin) Hulst of Crookston, Wendy (Steve) Gessell of St. Cloud, Lynette (John) Gessell of Flensburg, Gary (Patty) Backowski of Flensburg, Margie’s beloved 20 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren, Siblings: Wally (Marion) Pantzke of Little Falls, Donna (Hap) Johnson of Cushing, Yvonne (Lynn) Kalahar of Fort Ripley, and Sister in Law Norma Pantzke of Randall.

He will be the pastor of their three parish cluster; St. Mary’s in Upsala, St. Edward’s in Elmdale, and St. Francis in St. Francis. He was installed by Bishop Donald Ketler at St. Mary’s Church in Upsala. Many parishioners from the three parish cluster as well as St. Mary’s in Sauk Center helped welcome him to his new parish. A Divided Election -By Sheila Ripplinger Never before in the History of our Nation have we seen so much division on major moral, ethical, and spiritual issues. What seems to be crystal clear to one is complicated and confusing to another. The freedoms that we have had are being terribly threatened by communist type ideas that appear to be sounding good to a lot of the listeners. Partial truths and slamming ‘whole truth’ thinkers is an entertaining game in the liberal media that is fueling the rise of hate groups. Is this what America wants for real?

Many educated logical thinking American citizens are considering forfeiting their responsibility and privilege to vote with the idea that they will make some sort of point. What that point is I am not quite sure.

What I do know for certain and without hesitation or doubt though, is that there is an election in which we are all a part of whether we make the right decision or not. Each human being is created in the image of God, born with a conscience, given freedom of choice, and loved by God. The God that created each soul, loves each one so much that He wants us to be His children. He wants us to ‘elect’ to love Him back. He made a Way for us to do that by sending His Son, Jesus to be our Savior. We need to be saved from the sins that tangle us up and keep us separated from a Holy and Just God. There is only one Way to Godonly one narrow road- not many roads... just one.

The only way that we can have communion with the God who created us is to admit that we are sinners that can’t save ourselves. Believe in His Holy Word that clearly tells us that Jesus is the Only Way to the Father. Confess our sins with true sorrow and begin walking on the straight and narrow path- the one that is less traveled. Choosing to be cleansed and set free! This is how you become God’s child.

election of our lives~ the election of our souls that is. 2 Peter 1:10. This world is so corrupt and divided but that is not what we are to be a part of. We must live in this world just as light lives amongst darkness, while keeping in mind that this is not our eternal home. If we have elected to be God’s child we will supernaturally live it out by the way we treat others with brotherly kindness and love.

Doing this out of reverence for God and because we look forward in Hope to the Day we receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If you choose to follow the other option in this election of the soul- which is your personal choice because of the way God created you for free will thinking, you will stay covered in your shame by refusing the truth and choosing to believe the lies. This other option is the eternal punishment of your soul- the soul that God created to live forever. It is you telling God that you didn’t need His help when He offered you Grace.

It will be your choice to live separated from God, but also from all that is good and pleasing. Now is the time of Grace.

Take your election seriously, your living soul is depending on you! Do not let twisted lies and deception divide and confuse what deep down you know as truth. It is a you and God choice- election. Each soul will stand before God individually on that coming Day of judgement. That day will be too late to make your choice. The ones that refused Grace will be divided and sent to that horrible place of eternal judgement and torment.

They will be forgotten by the elect that chose Grace.

Dear Anonymous, Absolutely! She also needs an estate planner immediately. Your parents were far too wise with their money to have your mom end up in a bad situation toward the end of her life. You need to do everything you can to prevent this from happening.

In the event she’s unable to take care of herself, long-term care health coverage to take care of nursing home or in-home care is an absolute necessity. The cost of nursing home care can run from $75,000 to $100,000 a year. Your mom is in great shape financially. But just imagine what a prolonged nursing home stay could do to her nest egg. It’s not a pretty thought.

When you hit 60, you need longterm care insurance, period. Whether you have $1 million-plus in the bank or not, I strongly recommend it as a wise part of any asset management plan.

Blue Cross Blue Shield will be discontinuing individual coverage come January 1

By Tom Kuehne Some of you have already have your notice from Blue Cross. What the letter means is that Blue Cross will no longer offer health insurance to individuals that are not yet able to get Medicare. Coverage for those who have individual policies, they will terminate on December 31, 2016.

Those who have Blue Cross individual policies will have opportunities to obtain coverage through other health insurance companies during the open enrollment period from November 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017. Those who are involved in a claim or hospitalization on December 31, 2016, will have continuous coverage with the new insurer if they have made application prior to that date.

A very important consideration when changing policies is to be sure what the network options are for the new carrier. Networks really began to appear after Obamacare came into existence.

Networks are groups of health care providers, which you must use so that your

policy will afford the largest benefits.

For instance, “out of network” penalties usually include a larger deductible and larger “out of pocket” amounts. In this area one of the most popular networks is Centracare. If you customarily obtain health care from another organization, it would be best to explore that network’s benefits.

COACT Farm Picnic to be held Sunday With farm income at a 20-year low, the Farmer-Lender Mediation Program, which emerged from the farm crisis of the ‘80s, will be addressed by Minnesota Farmers Union President Doug Peterson at the 36th Farm Picnic, Sunday, August 21, 2 PM, at Pierz Park, Pierz.

The Farm Picnic’s annual message is “Farmers mean business on Main Street,” which means that the prices paid to farmers for their milk, crops, and livestock affect local businesses. The prolonged price drop for farmers makes this year’s topic on farmer-lender mediation all the more relevant, said COACT President Sister Ruth Lentner, because it facilitates the restructuring of loans when farm income doesn’t keep up with operating costs. Her three brothers are Benton County dairy farmers, and a sister and brother-in-law are Morrison County dairy farmers.

Minnesota COACT and Morrison

County Farmers Union co-sponsor the Farm Picnic which urges support for Main Street businesses because they support family farms. Thom Petersen, Farmers Union Government Relations Director, will join the discussion along with the area’s state legislative candidates.

Serving of the traditional country dinner of ham, sweet corn, and potato salad begins at 2 PM. The Minnesota Farmers Union-NFO Direct Marketing Program is providing the ham, and the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls are offering the potato salad, fresh-baked bread, and garden vegetables. Morrison County Dairy Princesses will serve milk and ice cream.

Town Clerk’s Report: Clerk presented the claims list for July. Claims list included 10 claims 2950-2959 for a total of $9,328.54. Mike made the motion to approve the claims; Ray made the second, Motion carried unanimously. Mail received included a letter from P&Z, Todd County Assessor’s office regarding training for the equalization meeting, and some advertising.

Road and Bridge Report: Ray stated he wouldn’t be able to get the signs on Chippewa Road and 341st done, Ron and Erv H. will work on the project.

Ray asked that when Herdering starts work on the culverts, he would recommend cutting them out a little wider and using fabric cloth to hold things in place. Ron reported on several trees that he needed to remove from the roadways. Some discussion on clean up behind the Township’s building. Ron will check it out.

Additional agenda items: The District 8 meeting of Township officials will be held on August 17th at the Clarissa Ballroom in Clarissa.

Todd County Sheriff’s Dept.

August 8, 2016: The Todd County Sheriff’s Office is looking for assistance in locating Alan Michael Thomas, 47, of Osakis, MN. Alan left his residence in Osakis on August 4, 2016 and traveled to Blaine to visit friends. He planned to return home the same day but his family and friends have not seen or heard from him since. Alan has medical issues that require him to take daily medication and he does not have his medication with him. It is also unusual for him not to be in contact with family and authorities and his family are concerned for his welfare. Alan is described as 5’8”, 185 pounds with green eyes and bald. He has a tattoo of “Thomas” across his shoulder blades and a Japanese tattoo on his shoulder, both in black ink. Alan also has circular scars on his head from surgeries. He is driving a 2008, charcoal gray Scion TC, MN license 039-NEH. If you think you have seen Alan or have information regarding his whereabouts please contact the Todd County Sheriff’s Office at 320-732-2157 or dial 911.

August 10, 2016: At 14:47 the Todd County Sheriffs Office took a theft report on a brush-cutter skidloader attachment. The brush-cutter was taken from County Road 5 in Long Prairie Township sometime in the evening hours of 8-9-16 and early morning hours of 8-10-16. Anyone with information on this theft please contact the Todd County Sheriffs Office.

August 13, 2016: At 13:56 the Todd County Sheriffs Office and Long Prairie Police Department assisted the MN State Patrol with a two vehicle accident on State Hwy. 71 just North of Long Prairie. James Schrader, 78 of Avon, attempted to complete a U-turn when he collided with Ginger Line, 33 of Bertha. Minor injuries were reported. Todd County Fire and Rescue assisted with the call.

August 13, 2016: At 18:38 Tiffany Erickson, 29, of Long Prairie was driving her 2002 Chevy Malibu on County Road 38 west of Long Prairie when she lost control going in to the north ditch. The car had minor damage.

August 13, 2016: At 10:30 Mikael Westanmo was driving his 2009 Kia Rio northbound on Flicker Drive. Westanmo lost control of his vehicle and struck the mailboxes near the address of 20818 Flicker Trail, Burtrum.

Damage was done to two mailboxes. Damage was also sustained to the passengers side of Westanmo’s vehicle. No one was injured in the accident.
