2023-2024 Thursday 12th September 2024
I am delighted to welcome you all to our annual Prize-Giving Evening, a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate as a community the hard work of our students. It is a moment to reflect on their dedication, resilience, and hard work, and to recognise not only their academic accomplishments but also the meaningful contributions they have made to the wider community. Our staff are immensely proud of each and every one of them, having witnessed firsthand the effort, enthusiasm, and growth that has led to their success. Their achievements are a true reflection of the strong partnership between our dedicated staff and our talented students. The Holy Cross School is a flourishing and vibrant environment in which our students thrive, reaching for excellence both in the classroom and in service to others. True to our mission statement, we applaud not only the academic success of our students, but also those girls who have served our school and the wider community seeking to make the world a better place.
I would also like to thank the parents and families whose support, encouragement and belief in their daughter has been invaluable in this journey and has played a pivotal role in helping them reach their full potential.
Tonight we have the honour of being joined by our esteemed guest speaker, Heidi Gomes and I know that her story will inspire our young people.
I hope you enjoy the evening and I thank you for all your support and confidence in our wonderful school.
Mrs D McConn-Finch Headteacher
We are delighted to welcome Heidi Gomes as our guest speaker for this evening. With a background in television production, Heidi began her career at 18, working her way up to producer on popular weekend entertainment shows. After taking a career break to focus on raising her four daughters, she was a founding trustee of The Lunchbowl Network, a charity providing essential support to orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya's Kibera slum. Since its inception in 2005, the charity has flourished, with schools and kindergartens now in operation, changing lives. Alongside her charity work, Heidi has returned to television, producing documentaries and popular TV series. Her work and passion reflect her dedication to making a difference in the world.
