Dear Parishioners, Do you know why God created you - what purpose and mission he has entrusted to you? For it is absolutely certain God has plan for you! Jesus' aim and mission was to glorify his Heavenly Father. All he said and did gave glory to his Father. On the eve of his sacrifice on the cross and in the presence of his disciples, Jesus made his high priestly prayer: "Holy Father, keep them in your name that they may be one as we are one". Jesus prayed for the unity of his disciples and for all who would believe in him. What impelled Jesus to lay down his life on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for the sin of the world? It was love - love for his Father in heaven and love for each and everyone of us who are made in the image and likeness of God. Jesus was sent into the world by his Father for a purpose and that purpose was a mission of love to free us from slavery to sin, Satan, fear, death, and hopelessness. Jesus saw glory in the cross rather than shame. Obedience to his Father's will was his glory. Jesus kept his Father's word even when tempted to forgo the cross. Jesus did not rely on his own human resources and strength to accomplish his Father's will. He trusted in his Father to give him strength, courage, and perseverance in the face of opposition, trials, and temptation. We also must take up our cross and follow the Lord Jesus wherever he may call us. He will give us the strength and power of the Holy Spirit to live as his disciples. John Henry Newman (1801-1890) wrote: "God has created me to do him some definite service; he has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another. I have my mission - I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for nothing. Therefore, I will trust him. Whatever, wherever I am. I cannot be thrown away." Do you trust in God and in his call and purpose for your life? Yours In Christ,
Father Robert

Hymn: At the name of Jesus NEH 338
1. At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, Every tongue confess Him King of glory now; ’Tis the Father’s pleasure we should call Him Lord, Who from the beginning was the mighty Word.
4. Bore it up triumphant with its human light, Through all ranks of creatures, to the central height, To the throne of Godhead, to the Father’s breast; Filled it with the glory of that perfect rest.
2. At His voice creation sprang at once to sight, All the angel faces, all the hosts of light, Thrones and dominations, stars upon their way, All the heavenly orders, in their great array.
5. In your hearts enthrone Him; there let Him subdue All that is not holy, all that is not true; He is God the Saviour, He is Christ the Lord, Ever to be worshipped, trusted and adored.
3. Humbled for a season, to receive a name From the lips of sinners unto whom He came, Faithfully He bore it, spotless to the last, Brought it back victorious when from death He passed.
6. Brothers, this Lord Jesus shall return again, With the Father’s glory, with His angel train; For all wreaths of empire meet upon His brow, And our hearts confess Him King of glory now. 4
Invocation:
Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Blessed be God's kingdom, now and for ever.
Greeting:
The Lord be with you. And also with you.
Sentence: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. The Collect for Purity: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: God of love and peace, you know what we think and feel. Touch our hearts that our thoughts and actions may be good so that we may love you and honour you, through Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN. The Summary of the Commandments: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ Lord, have mercy upon us, and write all these thy laws in our hearts, we beseech thee. The Confession Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's forgiveness. God of mercy and grace, we have sometimes thought wrong things, and done wrong things and we have not always loved each other as we should. We are sorry. Forgive us and help us to love and obey you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 5
The Absolution Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Collect Almighty God, whose blessed Son before his passion prayed for his disciples that they might be one, as you and he are one: grant that your Church, being bound together in love and obedience to you, may be united in one body by the one Spirit, that the world may believe in him whom you have sent, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD Readings from Good News Translation and JB Phillips New Testament First Reading: Acts 7:55-60 55 But
Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw God's glory and Jesus standing at the right side of God. 56 “Look!” he said. “I see heaven opened and the Son of Man standing at the right side of God!” 57 With
a loud cry the Council members covered their ears with their hands. Then they all rushed at him at once, 58 threw him out of the city, and stoned him. The witnesses left their cloaks in the care of a young man named Saul. 59 They kept on stoning Stephen as he called out to the Lord, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” 60 He knelt down and cried out in a loud voice, “Lord! Do not remember this sin against them!” He said this and died. Response:
Hear the word of the Lord, Thanks be to God.

Psalm: 97
The Lord is king; let the | earth re|joice: let the | multitude of | islands be | glad. 2 Clouds and darkness are | round a|bout him: righteousness and justice are the foun|dation | of his | throne. 1
Fire | goes be|fore him: and burns up his | enemies on | every | side. 4 His lightnings | light the | world: the | earth | sees it and | quakes. 3
The mountains melt like wax be|fore his | face: from before the face of the | Lord of | all the | earth. 6 The heavens have pro|claimed his | righteousness: and all | peoples have | seen his | glory. 5
They are ashamed, all those who serve idols and glory in | mere | nothings: all | gods bow | down be|fore him. 8 Zion heard and was glad, and the daughters of | Judah re|joiced: Be|cause of your | judgements O | God. 7
9
For you, Lord, are most high over | all the | earth: you are exalted | far above | all | gods. 10 The Lord loves | those that hate | evil: the Lord guards the life of the faithful, and delivers them from the | hand of | the un|godly. 9
Light | dawns· for the | righteous: And | joy· for the | true of | heart. 12 Rejoice in the | Lord, you | righteous: and give | thanks· to his | holy | name. 11
Glory be to the Father, and | to the | Son: and | to the | Holy | Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and | ever | shall be: world without | end. | A|men.

Second Reading: Revelation 22:12-20 12-15 “See,
I come quickly! I carry my reward with me, and repay every man according to his deeds. I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the Beginning and the End. Happy are those who wash their robes, for they have the right to the tree of life and the freedom of the gates of the city. Shut out from the city shall be the depraved, the sorcerers, the impure, the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practises a lie! 16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to you with this testimony for the Churches. I am both the root and stock of David, and the bright star of the morning!” 17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let everyone who hears this also say, “Come!” Let the thirsty man come, and let everyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift. 18-19 Now I bear solemn witness to every man who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to these words God will add to him the disasters described in this book; if anyone takes away from the words of prophecy in this book, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city which are described in this book. 20 He, who is witness to all this, says, “Yes, I am coming very quickly!” “Amen, come Lord Jesus!” Response:
Hear the word of the Lord, Thanks be to God.

Gradual Hymn: Lord enthroned in heavenly splendour NEH 296
LORD, enthroned in heavenly splendour, First-begotten from the dead, Thou alone, our strong defender, Liftest up thy people’s head. Alleluya, Alleluya, Jesu, true and living Bread!
4 Paschal Lamb, thine Offering, finished Once for all when thou wast slain, In its fullness undiminished Shall for evermore remain, Alleluya, Alleluya, Cleansing souls from every stain.
2 Here our humblest homage pay we; Here in loving reverence bow; Here for Faith’s discernment pray we, Lest we fail to know thee now. Alleluya, Alleluya, Thou art here, we ask not how.
5 Life-imparting heavenly Manna, Stricken Rock with streaming side, Heaven and earth with loud hosanna Worship thee, the Lamb who died, Alleluya, Alleluya, Risen, ascended, glorified!
3 Though the lowliest form doth veil thee As of old in Bethlehem, Here as there thine angels hail thee, Branch and Flower of Jesse's stem. Alleluya, Alleluya, We in worship join with them.
WE STAND FOR THE READING OF THE HOLY GOSPEL AS A SIGN OF RESPECT AS WE GREET OUR LORD WHO IS PRESENT IN HIS HOLY WORD. ALLELUIA Sung by ALL 12
The Lord be with you, and also with you. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Saint John chapter 17 beginning at the 20th verse.
20-26 “I
am not praying only for these men but for all those who will believe in me through their message, that they may all be one. Just as you, Father, live in me and I live in you, I am asking that they may live in us, that the world may believe that you did send me. I have given them the honour that you gave me, that they may be one, as we are one—I in them and you in me, that they may grow complete into one, so that the world may realise that you sent me and have loved them as you loved me. Father, I want those whom you have given me to be with me where I am; I want them to see that glory which you have made mine—for you loved me before the world began. Father of goodness and truth, the world has not known you, but I have known you and these men now know that you have sent me. I have made your self known to them and I will continue to do so that the love which you have had for me may be in their hearts— and that I may be there also. John 17:20-26 Gospel Response: This is the gospel of the Lord,

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE COMMUNION {Celebrant} We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread. The Choir sings the Agnus Dei Draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which he gave for you, and his blood which he shed for you. Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving. The Choir sings: “The Lord Ascendeth up on high, Tayton. Baptised Christians who receive Holy Communion in their own church are invited to share communion with us. The consecrated wine may be received: a) from the common cup which is the tradition of the Anglican Church since the Reformation (as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer 1662) by drinking or intinction of the bread. b) from an individual glass upon request. Or you may choose to receive the bread only as Holy Communion in one kind.
Once you have received communion you may wish to pray the following prayer in thanksgiving: Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits which you have given us, for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us. Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother, may we know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen. (Richard of Chichester 1197-1253 AD)

Final Hymn: The head that once was crowned with thorns NEH 134
THE head that once was crowned with thorns Is crowned with glory now: A royal diadem adorns The mighty victor's brow.
4 To them the cross, with all its shame. With all its grace is given: Their name an everlasting name, Their joy the joy of heaven.
2 The highest place that heaven affords Is his, is his by right, The King of kings and Lord of lords, And heaven's eternal light;
5 They suffer with their Lord below, They reign with him above, Their profit and their joy to know The mystery of his love.
3 The joy of all who dwell above, The joy of all below, To whom he manifests his love, And grants his name to know.
6 The cross he bore is life and health, Though shame and death to him; His people's hope, his people's wealth, Their everlasting theme.

National Trust Appeal - HTK’s National Trust Appeal has been of huge benefit to the Parish, allowing vital maintenance on the Church that we would have otherwise struggled to fund. We have just finished work on the Vicarage roof, which was leaking, and the total cost of this was around $100,000 so any donations, small or large, towards this would be very gratefully accepted. Donations are tax deductible. Donation forms are in the rack at the back of the church or speak to Brenda in the church office or call Alan Wilson on 0414 470 460.
Anglican Code of Conduct for Child Safety Holy Trinity Child and Vulnerable Persons Policy. The Parish Council (upon the recommendations of HTK Child and Vulnerable Person sub-committee) has endorsed the Holy Trinity Child Safe and Vulnerable Persons Policy. On 22 March 2018, the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne approved a Code of Conduct for Child Safety. There are copies of the Holy Trinity Child Safe Policy and the Anglican Code of Conduct for Child Safety at the back of the church for your attention. Each parishioner is urged to read Child Safe Policy and the Code of Conduct. If you are an adult who has regular contact with children (anyone under the age of 18 years) you will be requested to make a Statement of Commitment for the Code of Conduct for Child Safety and obtain a Working with Children Check. The Parish Council and the Holy Trinity Child Safe Sub Committee thank you for your continued support and co-operation in promoting a Child Safe parish.
