Dear Parishioners, Bishop Augustine of Hippo, (354-430 AD) in his commentary of John: My kingdom is not of the world wrote: "Listen, everyone, Jews and Gentiles, circumcised and uncircumcised. Listen, all kings of the earth. I am no hindrance to your rule in this world, for 'my kingdom is not of this world.' Banish the groundless fear that filled Herod the Great on hearing that Christ was born. More cruel in his fear than in his anger, he put many children to death (Matthew 2:3,16), so that Christ would also die. But 'my kingdom is not of this world,' says Christ. What further reassurance do you seek? Come to the kingdom that is not of this world. Do not be enraged by fear, but come by faith. In a prophecy Christ also said, 'He,' that is, God the Father, 'has made me king on Zion his holy mountain' (Psalm 2:6). But that Zion and that mountain are not of this world. What in fact is Christ's kingdom? It is simply those who believe in him, those to whom he said, 'You are not of this world, even as I am not of this world.' He willed, nevertheless, that they should be in the world, which is why he prayed to the Father, 'I ask you not to take them out of the world but to protect them from the evil one' (John 17:15-16). So here also he did not say, 'My kingdom is not' in this world but 'is not of this world.' And when he went on to prove this by declaring, 'If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought to save me from being handed over to the Jews,' he concluded by saying not 'my kingdom is not here' but 'my kingdom is not from here.â€™ "Indeed, his kingdom is here until the end of time, and until the harvest it will contain weeds. The harvest is the end of the world, when the reapers, who are the angels, will come and gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin (Matthew 13:48-41). And this could not happen if his kingdom were not here. But even so, it is not from here, for it is in exile in the world. Christ says to his kingdom, 'You are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world' (John 15:19). They were indeed of the world when they belonged to the prince of this world, before they became his kingdom. Though created by the true God, everyone born of the corrupt and accursed stock of Adam is of the world. [But] everyone who is reborn in Christ becomes the kingdom that is no longer of the world. For God has snatched us from the powers of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved Son (Colossians 1:13). This is that kingdom of which he said, 'My kingdom is not of this world; my kingly power does not come from here." The Nicene Creed Let us together affirm the faith of the Church. We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE COMMUNION {Celebrant} We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread. The Choir sings the Agnus Dei Draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which he gave for you, and his blood which he shed for you. Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving. The Choir sings: â€œLet all mortal flesh keep silence,â€? Stephen Cleobury Baptised Christians who receive Holy Communion in their own church are invited to share communion with us. The consecrated wine may be received: a) from the common cup which is the tradition of the Anglican Church since the Reformation (as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer 1662) by drinking or intinction of the bread. b) from an individual glass upon request. Or you may choose to receive the bread only as Holy Communion in one kind.

Once you have received communion you may wish to pray the following prayer in thanksgiving: Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits which you have given us, for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us. We are about to commence work on the Vicarage roof, which is leaking, and the total cost of this is around $100,000 so any donations, small or large, towards this would be very gratefully accepted. Church Access: Church: Access is through the Pakington Street entrance. The Chapel door is open for Wednesday services. Church Office: Access is at the northern end of the Church off Pakington Street via a staircase near the Church office. Vicarage & Memorial Garden: Access is either via the staircase near the office and then by following the outside path going around the northern end of the Church, via the carpark if it is open, or through the Chapel door. Please note that there are no railings for either the stairs or ramp outside the Chapel door at this stage, so please take care. Church Carpark: Devco are very kindly allowing the HTK carpark to be used by parishioners on a Sunday for Church services from this Sunday onwards. It will only be open BETWEEN 7.30AM AND 1.00PM however, so if you are intending to be at the Church after that time, please ensure you remove your car from the carpark prior to 1.00pm to avoid being locked in until Monday morning. Please remember that the carpark is still part of the building site and subject to insurance restrictions, and Devco are really doing us a huge favour by allowing us to use the carpark, so please keep a very close eye on all children and be careful yourselves, so this privilege is not jeopardised. If there are any issues whatsoever, the carpark will be closed until the entire development is complete. Anglican Code of Conduct for Child Safety Holy Trinity Child and Vulnerable Persons Policy.

The Parish Council (upon the recommendations of HTK Child and Vulnerable Person sub-committee) has endorsed the Holy Trinity Child Safe and Vulnerable Persons Policy. Holy Trinity Kew is committed to protecting the safety of young people and vulnerable adults who participate in its programs, ministries and events. This includes the Sunday School and the Choir. On 22 March 2018, the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne approved a Code of Conduct for Child Safety. There are copies of the Holy Trinity Child Safe Policy and the Anglican Code of Conduct for Child Safety at the back of the church for your attention. Each parishioner is urged to read Child Safe Policy and the Code of Conduct. If you are an adult who has regular contact with children (anyone under the age of 18 years) you will be requested to make a Statement of Commitment for the Code of Conduct for Child Safety. This process has commenced and will continue in the coming weeks.
