Invocation:

Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Blessed be God's kingdom, now and for ever.

Greeting:

The Lord be with you. AND ALSO WITH YOU.

(see Ruth 2:4)

Sentence: Proclaim the Name: ‘The Lord, the Lord, a God who is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.’ Exodus 34.6 The Collect for Purity: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Summary of the Commandments: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ Lord, have mercy upon us, and write all these thy laws in our hearts, we beseech thee. Kyrie eleison: Lord have mercy: R/: Lord have mercy Christ have mercy: R/: Christ have mercy Lord have mercy: R/: Lord have mercy 3

The Gloria Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God’s people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; you are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The Collect Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace by the confession of a true faith to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of the divine majesty to worship the Unity: keep us steadfast in this faith, and evermore defend us from all adversities, for you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD Readings from 'New Revised Standard Version' (NRSV) First Reading: Exodus 34.1-8 The Lord said to Moses, ‘Cut two tablets of stone like the former ones, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you broke. 2 Be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai and present yourself there to me, on the top of the mountain. 3 No one shall come up with you, and do not let anyone be seen throughout all the mountain; and do not let flocks or herds graze in front of that mountain.’ 4 So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the former ones; and he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tablets of stone. 5 The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name, ‘The Lord.’ 6 The Lord passed before him, and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, yet by no means clearing the guilty, but visiting the iniquity of the parents upon the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ 8 And Moses quickly bowed his head towards the earth, and worshipped. 1

Response: Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD

Psalm: Song of the Three Blessed are you, the God of our forebears: worthy to be praised and exalted for ever. Blessed is your holy and glorious name: worthy to be praised and exalted for ever. Blessed are you, glorious in your holy temple: worthy to be praised and exalted for ever. Blessed are you who behold the depths: worthy to be praised and exalted for ever. Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom: worthy to be praised and exalted for ever. Blessed are you in the heights of heaven: worthy to be praised and exalted for ever.

Second Reading: 2 Corinthians 13.11-13 Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 12 Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. 13 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. 11

Response: Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD

WE STAND FOR THE READING OF THE HOLY GOSPEL AS A SIGN OF RESPECT AS WE GREET OUR LORD WHO IS PRESENT IN HIS HOLY WORD. The Lord be with you AND ALSO WITH YOU The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Saint Matthew chapter 28 beginning at the 16th verse. GLORY TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST. Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ 16

Gospel Response: This is the gospel of the Lord, PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST.

SERMON followed by a short time for reflection (copy of sermon available at back of church and on web) The Nicene Creed Let us together affirm the faith of the Church. We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. 8

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE Let us pray for all people and for the Church throughout the world. Each petition of intercession or thanksgiving concludes with, Lord in your mercy, HEAR OUR PRAYER. We pray for: all who work for peace and justice. We pray for: Diocese of Northern California,; The Diocese of Newcastle; Diocesan Building Committee ; St John the Evangelist, Flinders; Lara-Little River – Pastoral Visit; St Luke’s, Melbourne South – Pastoral Visit; Holy Trinity, Hampton Park – Patronal Festival. We pray for our ministry team: Robert, Robert, Helen, Pam and Leonie, for Rick and Michael (with responsibility for the TGS congregation), for the choir and Sunday School, and all who serve within the parish. We pray for our Archbishop Philip and Bishop Genieve. Almighty God, you have promised to hear our prayers. Grant that what we have asked in faith We may by your grace receive, Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

9

Jesus said: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. John 13.34 [Let us pray] We do not presume to come to your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen. The Confession Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's forgiveness. Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Absolution [Celebrant] Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 10

THE PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING Priest: People: Priest: People: Priest: People: Priest:

The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts: We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise... ... for ever praising you and saying: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Priest: People:

‌ do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me. Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

Priest: People:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and for ever. Amen. THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE COMMUNION {Celebrant}

We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, For we all share in the one bread.

Agnus Dei We pray together: Jesus, Lamb of God, have mercy on us. Jesus, bearer of our sins, have mercy on us. Jesus, redeemer of the world, grant us your peace. Draw near with faith. Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ which he gave for you, and his blood which he shed for you. Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you, and feed on him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving. Baptised Christians who receive Holy Communion in their own church are invited to share communion with us. The consecrated wine may be received: a) from the common cup which is the tradition of the Anglican Church since the Reformation (as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer 1662) by drinking or intinction of the bread. b) from an individual glass upon request. Or you may choose to receive the bread only as Holy Communion in one kind. 12

Once you have received communion you may wish to pray the following prayer in thanksgiving: Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits which you have given us, for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us. Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother, may we know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen. (Richard of Chichester 1197-1253 AD)

THE SENDING OUT OF GOD'S PEOPLE Post Communion Prayer Prayer of self-offering Father, we offer ourselves to you as a living sacrifice through Jesus Christ our Lord. Send us out in the power of your Spirit to live and work to your praise and glory. AMEN Blessing Dismissal

Go in peace to love and serve the Lord: IN THE NAME OF CHRIST. AMEN

GENERAL NOTICES BIRTHDAYS: Anika Pandy (TODAY), Dorothy Hadwen (Tomorrow). National Trust Appeal With 30 June fast approaching it is an opportune time to make a tax deductable donation to our National Trust Building Appeal. Over the past year the Appeal has paid for the replacement of the Church electrical switchboard, relocation of the electricity meter, major work to the Church roof, and termite protection for the Parish Hall. In the near term, it will fund replacement of the Jubilee Hall electrical switchboard, a new floor in the front part of the Parish Hall, and further electrical work in the Church. These critical maintenance projects are only possible through the Appeal – we could only manage a fraction of this work if it had to be funded from operating income. Donation forms are available at the back of the Church or from Brenda in the Parish Office. Donations of any size are welcome. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Appeal over the past year. The Bach Chamber Choir will be singing the Rachmaninov Vespers at St Paul’s Cathedral on Saturday 24th June at 7.30pm. Anglicare Group at Holy Trinity Kew: The new Anglicare Group is planning another meeting on Thursday June 22 at 10.30 am in the Chapel -to avoid the building works! Kerry Wise, a team leader from the Broadmeadows Women’s Community House will speak to us. Everyone is invited. Prayer Requests: all names for prayer in the pew sheet require permission from the persons being prayed for in the first instance.
