Dear Parishioners, God continues to choose ordinary people, like you and me, as his ambassadors and he uses the ordinary circumstances of our daily lives and work situations to draw others into his kingdom. The words of Jesus in calling the first disciples speaks the same message to us today: we will "catch people" for the kingdom of God if we allow the light of Jesus Christ to shine through us. God wants others to see the light of Christ in us in the way we live, speak, and witness the joy of the Gospel. The Mission of Christ’s church falls squarely on our shoulders- all of us- its our God given duty as disciples to not only to respond to the call of the Messiah and grow in love and obedience but by our words and actions be calling others into his kingdom to join with us. You may note that all of Jesus twelve disciples were ordinary people who did not have a theological or ministerial qualification among them! Yet were so called that they were impelled to call others. St Paul says, "But thanks be to God, who in Christ Jesus always leads us in triumph, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing" (2 Corinthians 2:15). Do you witness to those around you the joy of the Gospel and do you pray for your neighbours, colleagues, and relatives that they may come to know the Lord Jesus Christ and grow in the knowledge of his love and truth? Yours in Christ, Fr Robert Soul of my Saviour ANIMA CHRISTI, King of glory king of peace GWALCHMAI

Hymn: King of glory, King of peace NEH 391
1. King of glory, King of peace, I will love thee; and, that love may never cease, I will move thee. Thou hast granted my request, thou hast heard me; thou didst note my working breast, thou hast spared me.
3. Seven whole days, not one in seven, I will praise thee; in my heart, though not in heaven, I can raise thee. Small it is, in this poor sort to enrol thee: ev’n eternity’s too short to extol thee.
2. Wherefore with my utmost art I will sing thee, and the cream of all my heart I will bring thee. Though my sins against me cried, thou didst clear me; and alone, when they replied, thou didst hear me.
George Herbert 1593–1633
Invocation: Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Blessed be God's kingdom, now and for ever. Greeting: The Lord be with you. And also with you. 4
Sentence: Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, and was buried, and was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and appeared to many. 1 Corinthians 15.3–4 Prayer of Preparation: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: God of love and peace, you know what we think and feel. Touch our hearts that our thoughts and actions may be good so that we may love you and honour you, through Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN. The Summary of the Commandments: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself.’
Kyrie eleison (Dudman Setting)

The Confession Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's forgiveness. God of mercy and grace, we have sometimes thought wrong things, and done wrong things and we have not always loved each other as we should. We are sorry. Forgive us and help us to love and obey you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Absolution (Celebrant) Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Day Most holy God, in whose presence angels serve in awe, and whose glory fills all heaven and earth: cleanse our unclean lips and transform us by your grace so that your word spoken through us may bring many to your salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen. THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD First Reading: Isaiah 6.1-8 (GNT) 6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord. He was sitting on his throne, high and exalted, and his robe filled the whole Temple. 2 Around him flaming creatures were standing, each of which had six wings. Each creature covered its face with two wings, and its body with two, and used the other two for flying. 3 They were calling out to each other: “Holy, holy, holy! The LORD Almighty is holy! His glory fills the world.” 4 The sound of their voices made the foundation of the Temple shake, and the Temple itself became filled with smoke. 5 I said, “There is no hope for me! I am doomed because every word that passes my lips is sinful, and I live among a people whose every word is sinful. And yet, with my own eyes I have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.” 6 Then one of the creatures flew down to me, carrying a burning coal that he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched my lips with the burning coal and said, “This has touched your lips, and now your guilt is gone, and your sins are forgiven.” 8 Then I heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger?” I answered, “I will go! Send me!”
Response: Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD 8
Psalm: 138 – Congregation to sing with choir
1 I WILL give thanks unto thee, O Lord, with my | whole | heart: even before the gods will I sing | praise | unto | thee. 2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy Name, because of thy loving | kindness and | truth: for thou hast magnified thy Name and thy | word a|bove all | things. 3 When I called upon | thee thou | heardest me: and enduedst my | soul with | much | strength. 4 All the kings of the earth shall | praise thee O | LORD: for they have | heard the | words of thy | mouth. 5 Yea they shall sing of the | ways of the | LORD: that great is the | glory | of the | LORD. 6 For though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect | unto the | lowly: as for the proud, he beholdeth | them a|far | off. 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, yet shalt | thou re|fresh me: thou shalt stretch forth thy hand upon the furiousness of mine enemies, and thy | right | hand shall | save me. 8 The LORD shall make good his loving | kindness | toward me: yea thy mercy O LORD endureth for ever, despise not then the | works of thine | own | hands. Glory be to the Father, and | to the | Son: and | to the | Holy | Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now and | ever | shall be: world without | end. | A|men. 9
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15.1-11 (Phillips) 15 1-2 Now, my brothers, I want to speak about the Gospel which I have previously preached to you, which you accepted, in which you are at present standing, and by which, if you remain faithful to the message I gave you, your salvation is being worked out—unless, of course, your faith had no meaning behind it at all. 3-8 For I passed on to you Corinthians first of all the message I had myself received—that Christ died for our sins, as the scriptures said he would; that he was buried and rose again on the third day, again as the scriptures foretold. He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve, and subsequently he was seen simultaneously by over five hundred Christians, of whom the majority are still alive, though some have since died. He was then seen by James, then by all the messengers. And last of all, as if to one born abnormally late, he appeared to me! 9-11 I am the least of the messengers, and indeed I do not deserve that title at all, because I persecuted the Church of God. But what I am now I am by the grace of God. The grace he gave me has not proved a barren gift. I have worked harder than any of the others—and yet it was not I but this same grace of God within me. In any event, whoever has done the work whether I or they, this has been the message and this has been the foundation of your faith. Response: Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD

The Lord be with you AND ALSO WITH YOU The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Saint Luke chapter 5 beginning at the 1st verse.
5 1-3 One day the people were crowding closely round Jesus to hear God’s message, as he stood on the shore of Lake Gennesaret. Jesus noticed two boats drawn up on the beach, for the fishermen had left them there while they were cleaning their nets. He went aboard one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, and asked him to push out a little from the shore. Then he sat down and continued his teaching of the crowds from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Push out now into deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 Simon replied, “Master! We’ve worked all night and never caught a thing, but if you say so, I’ll let the nets down.” 6-8 And when they had done this, they caught an enormous shoal of fish— so big that the nets began to tear. So they signalled to their friends in the other boats to come and help them. They came and filled both the boats to sinking point. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell on his knees before Jesus and said, “Keep away from me, Lord, for I’m only a sinful man!” 9-10 For he and his companions (including Zebedee’s sons, James and John, Simon’s partners) were staggered at the haul of fish that they had made. Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid, Simon. From now on your catch will be men.” 11 So they brought the boats ashore, left everything and followed him. Gospel Response: This is the gospel of the Lord,

4. The God who reigns on high the great archangels sing, and ‘Holy, holy, holy,’ cry, ‘almighty King!’ who was and is the same and evermore shall be, the Lord, our Father, great I AM eternally.
2. The God of Abraham praise, whose all-sufficient grace shall guide us all our happy days in all our ways. He calls us each a friend, he calls himself our God; and he shall save us to the end through Jesus’ blood.
5. Before the Saviour’s face the ransomed nations bow, all praising his almighty grace, for ever new. He shows his wounds of love, they kindle to a flame and sound through all the worlds above the slaughtered Lamb.
3. He by himself has sworn, we on his oath depend: we shall, on eagles’ wings upborne, to heaven ascend: we shall behold his face, we shall his power adore, and sing the wonders of his grace for evermore.
6. The whole triumphant host gives thanks to God on high: ‘Hail, Father, Son and Spirit blest!’ they ever cry. Hail, Abraham’s God and ours! with heaven our songs we raise: all might and majesty are yours, and endless praise. Thomas Olivers 1725–99 alt.

Final Hymn: I heard the voice of Jesus say NEH 376
1. I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘Come unto me and rest; lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast.’ I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad; I found in him a resting-place, and he has made me glad.
3. I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘I am this dark world’s light; look unto me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright.’ I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I’ll walk till travelling days are done. Horatius Bonar 1808–89
2. I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘Behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink and live.’ I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.

THE PSALMS - prayers for today's church an ecumenical course in five sessions for discussion groups & individuals Course Synopsis The ancient poems we call Psalms are over 2000 years old. They were written in very different times from our own when humans could travel at the speed of a camel - not at the speed of sound. But these songs have stood the test of time for they address many of the problems we still face: violence, injustice, anger - and bewilderment. Why do the wicked prosper? Where is God when we suffer? In this 5-session course, Bishop Stephen Cottrell - a prolific and popular author - reflects on the psalms in general (and five psalms in particular). He invites us to join him as he does so. Five Sessions: Session One Session Two Session Three Session Four Session Five
