Dear Parishioners, On this Feast of Christ the King we read some of the Passion narrative from John’s gospel. In this engagement with Pontius Pilate Jesus did not deny that he is King. He knew he would die precisely because he was God's anointed King and Messiah. He explained to Pilate, however, that his kingship was “not of this world”. He did not come to establish an earthly kingdom, but a spiritual one that would claim the submission of men's and women's hearts and minds to his word. This kind of kingdom made no sense to Pilate since he knew nothing of God and his ways. Pilate even questioned what was "truth". Jesus had promised his disciples that if they “… continued in his word, they would know the truth and the truth would make them free” (John 8:31-32). How can we know for certain that Jesus is who he claims to be-the Son of God and Saviour of the world? The true meaning of Jesus' kingship is only revealed when he is raised high on the cross. Early in his ministry Jesus explained to Nicodemus: “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life” (John 3:14-15). Through the gift of faith God enables us to understand and to accept as true that it was he who will redeem us by sending his Son as our Saviour who would “…give his life as a ransom for many” (Matt. 20:28). SERMON - (copy of sermon available at back of church and on web) The Nicene Creed Let us together affirm the faith of the Church. We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE COMMUNION {Celebrant} We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, For we all share in the one bread. The Choir sings the Agnus Dei
Come let us take this holy sacrament of the body and blood of Christ in remembrance that he died for us, and feed on him in our hearts by faith with thanksgiving. The Choir sings: "Laudate Dominum�, Pitoni. Baptised Christians who receive Holy Communion in their own church are invited to share communion with us. The consecrated wine may be received: a) from the common cup which is the tradition of the Anglican Church since the Reformation (as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer 1662) by drinking or intinction of the bread. b) from an individual glass upon request. Or you may choose to receive the bread only as Holy Communion in one kind.

HOLY TRINITY CHRISTMAS CAKES A limited number of Holy Trinity Christmas Cakes will be available for sale on Sunday 6 December 2015 on a stall. Each cake is baked to a traditional recipe using full fruit and the best available ingredients. There are two sizes of cakes being offered this year. A 6 inch Christmas cake - $25.00 each and an 8 inch Christmas cake - $40.00 (Any donations towards that expenditure would be most gratefully received.)
