Hymn: TiS 446
1. Glorious things of you are spoken, Zion, city of our God: he whose word cannot be broken formed you for his own abode. On the Rock of Ages founded, what can shake your sure repose? With salvation’s walls surrounded, you may smile at all your foes.
3. Blest inhabitants of Zion, washed in their Redeemer’s blood: Jesus, whom their souls rely on, makes them kings and priests to God. For his love his people raises over self to reign as kings, and as priests, his solemn praises each for a thank-offering brings.
2. See, the streams of living waters, springing from eternal love, well supply your sons and daughters and all fear of want remove: who can faint while such a river ever flows their thirst to assuage — grace, which like the Lord the giver never fails from age to age.
4. Saviour, since of Zion’s city I, through grace, a member am, let the world deride or pity, I will glory in your name: fading are the worldlings’ pleasures, all their boasted pomp and show; solid joys and lasting treasures none but Zion’s children know. John Newton 1725–1807 alt. Music by permission Oxford University Press
Invocation:
Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Blessed be God's kingdom, now and for ever. 2
Greeting:
The Lord be with you. AND ALSO WITH YOU.
(see Ruth 2:4)
Sentence: Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5.10 Prayer of Preparation: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: God of love and peace, you know what we think and feel. Touch our hearts that our thoughts and actions may be good so that we may love you and honour you, through Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN.
The Summary of the Commandments: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself.’

The Confession Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's forgiveness. God of mercy and grace, we have sometimes thought wrong things, and done wrong things and we have not always loved each other as we should. We are sorry. Forgive us and help us to love and obey you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Absolution {Celebrant} Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD Readings from CEV First Reading: Revelation 7:9-17 9
After this, I saw a large crowd with more people than could be counted. They were from every race, tribe, nation, and language, and they stood before the throne and before the Lamb. They wore white robes and held palm branches in their hands, 10 as they shouted, “Our God, who sits upon the throne, has the power to save his people, and so does the Lamb.” 11 The angels who stood around the throne knelt in front of it with their faces to the ground. The elders and the four living creatures knelt there with them. Then they all worshiped God 12 and said, “Amen! Praise, glory, wisdom, thanks, honour, power, and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen!” 13 One of the elders asked me, “Do you know who these people are that are dressed in white robes? Do you know where they come from?” 14 “Sir,” I answered, “you must know.” Then he told me: “These are the ones who have gone through the great suffering. They have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and have made them white. 15 And so they stand before the throne of God and worship him in his temple day and night. The one who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. 16 They will never hunger or thirst again, and they won’t be troubled by the sun or any scorching heat. 17 The Lamb in the centre of the throne will be their shepherd. He will lead them to streams of life-giving water, and God will wipe all tears from their eyes.”

Verses 1. I will bless the Lord at all times, with praise always on my lips; in the Lord my soul shall make its boast. The humble shall hear and be glad. Response 2. Glorify the Lord with me. Together let us praise God's name. I sought the Lord and was answered; from my terrors God set me free. Response 3. Look towards the Lord and shine in light; let your faces be not ashamed. When the poor cry out the Lord hears them and rescues them from all their distress. Response 4. The angel of the Lord is encamped around those who revere God. Taste and see that the Lord is good. They are happy who seek refuge in God. Response

WE STAND FOR THE READING OF THE HOLY GOSPEL AS A SIGN OF RESPECT AS WE GREET OUR LORD WHO IS PRESENT IN HIS HOLY WORD.
5 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on the side of a mountain and sat down. Jesus' disciples gathered around him, 2 and he taught them: 3 God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven! 4 God blesses those people who grieve. They will find comfort! 5 God blesses those people who are humble. The earth will belong to them! 6 God blesses those people who want to obey him more than to eat or drink. They will be given what they want! 7 God blesses those people who are merciful. They will be treated with mercy! 8 God blesses those people whose hearts are pure. They will see him! 9 God blesses those people who make peace. They will be called his children! 10 God blesses those people who are treated badly for doing right. They belong to the kingdom of heaven. 11 God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me. 12 Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.
Alleluia
