Hymn: TIS 158 1. God has spoken by his prophets, spoken his unchanging word, each, from age to age proclaiming God, the one, the righteous Lord. In the world’s despair and turmoil one firm anchor holds us fast: God is king, his throne eternal, God the first, and God the last. 2. God has spoken by Christ Jesus, Christ, the everlasting Son, brightness of the Father’s glory, with the Father ever one; spoken by the Word incarnate, God from God, ere time began, Light from Light, to earth descending, God, revealed as Son of Man. 3. God is speaking by his Spirit, speaking to our hearts again, in the age-long word expounding God’s own message, now as then, through the rise and fall of nations one sure faith yet standing fast; God still speaks, his word unchanging, God the first, and God the last. Greeting:
The Lord be with you. AND ALSO WITH YOU.
(see Ruth 2:4)
Prayer of Preparation: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: God of love and peace, you know what we think and feel. Touch our hearts that our thoughts and actions may be good so that we may love you and honour you, through Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN. 2
The Summary of the Commandments: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ Kyrie eleison (Dudman Setting)
The Confession Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's forgiveness. God of mercy and grace, we have sometimes thought wrong things, and done wrong things and we have not always loved each other as we should. We are sorry. Forgive us and help us to love and obey you , through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 3
The Absolution {Celebrant} Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayer of the Day Faithful God, whose promises stand unshaken through all generations: renew us in hope, that we may be awake and alert watching for the glorious return of Jesus Christ, our Judge and Saviour, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD Readings from CEV First Reading: Isaiah 2:1, 3b, 4-5 This is the message from God that Isaiah was given about Judah and Jerusalem: “Let’s go to the mountain of the LORD God of Jacob and worship in his temple.” He will settle arguments between nations. They will pound their swords and their spears into rakes and shovels; they will never make war or attack one another. People of Israel, let’s live by the light of the LORD. Response: Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD

Psalm: 122 1
I was glad when they said to me: ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’ 2 And now our feet are standing: within your gates, O Jerusalem; 6 O pray for the peace of Jerusalem: may those who love you prosper. 7 Peace be within your walls: and prosperity in your palaces. 8 For the sake of my kindred and companions: I will pray that peace be with you. 9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God: I will seek for your good.
WE STAND FOR THE READING OF THE HOLY GOSPEL AS A SIGN OF RESPECT AS WE GREET OUR LORD WHO IS PRESENT IN HIS HOLY WORD. The Lord be with you AND ALSO WITH YOU The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Saint Matthew chapter 24 beginning at the 36th verse. GLORY TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST. Jesus said: No one knows the day or hour when the end of the world will be. The angels in heaven don’t know, and the Son himself doesn’t know. Only the Father knows. So be on your guard! You don’t know when your Lord will come. Homeowners never know when a thief is coming, and they are always on guard to keep one from breaking in. Always be ready! You don’t know when the Son of Man will come. Gospel Response: This is the gospel of the Lord, PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST. Alleluia (sung by all)

Offertory Hymn: TiS 474 1. Here in this place new light is streaming, now is the darkness vanished away, see, in this space, our fears and our dreamings, brought here to you in the light of this day. Gather us in, the lost and forsaken; gather us in, the blind and the lame; call to us now, and we shall awaken, we shall arise at the 8sound of our 8name. 2. We are the young, our lives are a mystery; we are the old, who yearn for your face; we have been sung throughout all of history, called to be light to the whole human race. Gather us in, the rich and the haughty; gather us in, the proud and the strong; give us a heart so meek and so lowly, give us the cour-age to enter the song. 3. Here we will take of the wine and the water, here we will take the bread of new birth, here you shall call your sons and your daugh-ters, call us anew to be salt of the earth. Give us to drink the wine of compassion, give us to eat the bread that is you; nourish us well, and teach us to fash-ion lives that are holy and hearts that are true. 4. Not in the dark of buildings con-fining, not in some heaven light years away, but here in this space, the new light is shining, now is the kingdom, now is the day. Gather us in, and hold us forever; gather us in, and make us your own; gather us in, all peoples together, fire of love in our flesh and our bone. Marty Haugen 1950– Words and music by permission G. Final Hymn: TiS 662 1. I know someone who watches over me all through the day; I know someone who cares for me in every single way, the Shepherd who will help me if I ever go astray: he’s the Lord, and Jesus is his name. He’s the children’s Saviour, he’s the children’s friend, a very special person, and his love will never end. He’s the children’s Saviour, he’s the children’s friend. He’s the Lord, and Jesus is his name. 2. Whenever I am lonely or whenever I am sad Jesus comes to cheer me up and make my heart so glad. He’s got to be the nicest friend that I have ever had: he’s the Lord, and Jesus is his name. He’s the children’s Saviour, ... Bonnie Low (1982) Words and music by permission Manna Music Inc, USA
