Hymn: TiS 125 1. The God of Abraham praise who reigns enthroned above, ancient of everlasting days, and God of love: the Lord, the great I AM by earth and heaven confessed! We bow and bless the sacred name for ever blessed.
4. The God who reigns on high the great archangels sing, and ‘Holy, holy, holy,’ cry, ‘almighty King!’ who was and is the same and evermore shall be, the Lord, our Father, great I AM eternally.

Prayer of Preparation: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. May this Lenten discipline, which we undertake with love, turn our minds to things above. 1. Sin has sundered us from God, selfish we have grown and cold, foolish were the ways we trod, evil habits keep their hold. 2. Now we fast that we may feast where the Lord of Life presides; may our hunger be increased for the bread which he provides. 3. As we keep this Lent with prayer and from pleasures are withdrawn, minds and bodies we prepare for the joy of Easter dawn.

We stand for the reading of the Holy Gospel as a sign of respect as we greet our Lord who is present in His Holy Word. The Lord be with you AND ALSO WITH YOU The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Saint Luke chapter 4 beginning at the 1st verse. GLORY TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST. Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, 2where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. The Nicene Creed Let us together affirm the faith of the Church. We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. Annual membership fees of $30 are now payable to Carol Fraser for those who would like to be financial members of MU. Lenten study groups: will commence on 20th February at 1.30pm and 7.30pm. These will run for 5 weeks and meet in the vicarage. You are welcome to attend individual sessions if you are not available for them all.
