A NATIVITY SERVICE AND BLESSING OF PETS
Welcome and opening prayer: God of love and peace. As we gather together today, help us to see you in all the wonders of creation, especially in our animals, and the donkey - the animal that carried Mary to Bethlehem and Jesus to Jerusalem. May we be responsible and care for all animals. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN.

Prayers: Lord of Creation, we thank you for the animals that are our friends and companions. We give thanks for the different animals that bring us so much joy, from the playfulness of mice to the grace and strength of horses. We give thanks for the faithfulness of dogs and the character of cats. We give thanks for the many other animals that we can have as pets to bring us joy. Lord help us to be good owners, who with love and care protect and nurture the animals of your creation. For those pets we have loved and have now died, we give thanks for the happy memories they have left with us; and we pray for those who still are sad. ending with the Lord’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, And deliver us from evil. THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD AND THE COMMUNION {Celebrant}
We break this bread to share in the body of Christ. We who are many are one body, For we all share in the one bread.
The Choir sings the Agnus Dei Come let us take this holy sacrament of the body and blood of Christ in remembrance that he died for us, and feed on him in our hearts by faith with thanksgiving. Baptised Christians who receive communion in their own church are invited to share communion with us. Communion wine may be received: (a) from the common cup from the first of the two Eucharistic Assistants. (b) by intinction from the second of the Eucharistic Assistants where a small part of the wafer is carefully dipped in the wine, or (c) from an individual glass on request from the first Eucharistic Assistant.
