Prayer of the Day Saving God, whose Son, Jesus Christ, healed the sick and brought them wholeness of body and mind: inspire us, his disciples, so that we may constantly proclaim his gospel by our words and by the dedication and integrity of our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD Readings from 'New Revised Standard Version' (NRSV)
First Reading: Isaiah 40:22-23, 25-26 (CEV) God is the one who rules the whole earth, and we that live here are merely insects. He spread out the heavens like a curtain or an open tent. God brings down rulers and turns them into nothing. The holy God asks, "Who compares with me? Is anyone my equal?" Look at the evening sky! Who created the stars? Who gave them each a name? Who leads them like an army? The LORD is so powerful that none of the stars are ever missing. Response: Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD
6
Psalm 147.1-4 O praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God: and to praise him is joyful and right. The Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem: he is gathering together the scattered outcasts of Israel. He heals the broken in spirit: and binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars: and calls them all by name.

Gradual Hymn: TiS 181
1. Come, O God of all the earth: come to us, O Righteous One; come, and bring our love to birth: in the glory of your Son.
4. Come, O God of snow and rain: shower down upon the earth; come, O God of joy and pain: God of sorrow, God of mirth. Refrain
Sing out, earth and skies! sing of the God who loves you; raise your joyful cries; dance to the life around you.
5. Come, O Justice, come, O Peace: come and shape our hearts anew; come and make oppression cease: bring us all to life in you. 2. Come, O God of wind and flame: Refrain fill the earth with righteousness; teach us all to sing your name: may our lives your love confess. Refrain

Final Hymn: TiS 52 1. Let us sing to the God of salvation, let us sing to the Lord our rock! Let us come to his house with thanksgiving, let us come before the Lord and sing! Praise our Maker, praise our Saviour, praise the Lord our everlasting King. Every throne must bow before him, God is Lord of everything! 2. In his hands are the earth’s deep places and the strength of the hills is his; all the sea is the Lord’s, for he made it, by his hands the dry land was formed. 3. Let us worship the Lord our Maker, let us kneel to the Lord our God; for we all are the sheep of his pasture, he will guide us by his powerful hand. 4. Let today be the time when you hear him! May our hearts not be hard or cold, lest we stray from the Lord in rebellion, as his people did in time of old.
