Greeting: The Lord be with you. AND ALSO WITH YOU.

(see Ruth 2:4)

Sentence: O shout to the Lord in triumph all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness and come before his face with songs of joy. Psalm 100.1

Prayer of Preparation: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Summary of the Commandments: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself.’

4

The Confession Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's forgiveness. Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have failed to do: we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves; we repent, and are sorry for all our sins. Father, forgive us. Strengthen us to love and obey you in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Absolution{Celebrant} Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to him in faith: pardon you and set you free from all your sins, strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 5

Prayer of the Day God of power and love, who raised your Son Jesus from death to life, resplendent in glory to rule over all creation: free the world to rejoice in his peace, to glory in his justice, and to live in his love. Unite the human race in Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD Readings from 'New Revised Standard Version' (NRSV) First Reading: Ezekiel 34:11, 22-24

11 For thus says the Lord God: I myself will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. 22 I will save my flock, and they shall no longer be ravaged; and I will judge between sheep and sheep. 23 I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd. 24 And I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David shall be prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken. Response:

THANKS BE TO GOD

Hear the word of the Lord,

Psalm: 100:1-4 1 O shout to the Lord in triumph, all the earth: serve the Lord with gladness, and come before his face with songs of joy. 2 Know that the Lord he is God: it is he who has made us and we are his; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. 3 Come into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: give thanks to him, and bless his holy name. 4 For the Lord is good, his loving mercy is for ever: his faithfulness throughout all generations. 6

Second Reading: Ephesians 1:20-23 20 God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. 22 And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Response:

Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD

We stand for the reading of the Holy Gospel as a sign of respect as we greet our Lord who is present in His Holy Word. The Lord be with you AND ALSO WITH YOU The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to Saint Matthew chapter 25 beginning at the 31st verse. GLORY TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST. 31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, 33 and he will put the sheep at his right hand and the goats at the left. 34 Then the king will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.' 37 Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? 38 And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? 39 And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?' 40 And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.' Gospel Response: This is the gospel of the Lord, PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST. 7

ALLELUIA Sung by Choir & Congregation

• SERMON (copy of sermon available at back of church)

THE APOSTLE’S CREED Let us together affirm the faith of the Church. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 8

Offertory Hymn: TiS 804

1. Down the ages saints ascended to Jerusalem to bring songs and psalms of expectation for the long-expected king. Cry hosanna, high hosannas! Join the pilgrims as they sing. Lift your voices, cry hosanna for the long-expected king!

3. Prophecies, in faith remembered, into flesh and spirit spring; all the gathered weight of glory greets the long-expected king. Cry hosanna, high hosannas, stones themselves are poised to sing. Lift your voices, cry hosanna for the long-expected king.

2. Christ comes riding on a donkey t’ward the buoyant clamouring; cloaks and praise are spread as honour for the long-expected king. Cry hosanna, high hosannas, hard the heart that does not sing. Lift your voices, cry hosanna for the long-expected king.

4. Songs of saints will rise and waver, incomplete our offering; then and now the praise inconstant for the long-expected king. Cry hosanna, high hosannas, our unfinished songs yet ring. Lift your voices, cry hosanna for the long-expected king. 10

Offertory Prayer: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. Through your goodness we have these gifts to share. Accept and use our offerings for your glory and for the service of your kingdom. BLESSED BE GOD FOR EVER.

Sing then of David’s son, our Saviour and brother; in all of Galilee was never another. 4. He gave his life for us, the pledge of salvation; he took upon himself the sins of the nation. 5. He conquered sin and death; he truly has risen, and he will share with us his heavenly vision.
