Hymn: TiS TiS 585
1. I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘Come unto me and rest; lay down, O weary one, lay down your head upon my breast.’ I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad; I found in him a resting-place, and he has made me glad. 3. I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘I am this dark world’s light; look unto me, your morn shall rise, and all your day be bright.’ I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I’ll walk till travelling days are done.
2. I heard the voice of Jesus say, ‘Behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink and live.’ I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.
Greeting: The Lord be with you. AND ALSO WITH YOU. (see Ruth 2:4) 2
Sentence: 'Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest,' says the Lord. 'Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart.' Matthew 11.28-29
Prayer of Preparation: As we gather as God's people let us pray together: God of love and peace, you know what we think and feel. Touch our hearts that our thoughts and actions may be good so that we may love you and honour you, through Jesus Christ our Lord, AMEN. The Summary of the Commandments: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ Jesus said: ‘This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ Kyrie eleison

The Confession Let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, confident in God's forgiveness. God of mercy and grace, we have sometimes thought wrong things, and done wrong things and we have not always loved each other as we should. We are sorry. Forgive us and help us to love and obey you , through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Absolution

Prayer of the Day Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ has taught us that what we do for the least of his brothers and sisters we do also for him: give us the will to serve others as he was the servant of all, who gave up his life and died for us; yet lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
THE MINISTRY OF THE WORD Readings from 'New Revised Standard Version' (NRSV)
First Reading: Genesis 24:34-38, 59-61, 67
(CEV)
34
The servant explained: I am Abraham's servant. 35The LORD has been good to my master and has made him very rich. He has given him many sheep, goats, cattle, camels, and donkeys, as well as a lot of silver and gold, and many slaves. 36Sarah, my master's wife, didn't have any children until she was very old. Then she had a son, and my master has given him everything. 37I solemnly promised my master that I would do what he said. And he told me, "Don't choose a wife for my son from the women in this land of Canaan. 38Instead, go back to the land where I was 59 born and find a wife for my son from among my relatives." So they agreed to let Rebekah and an old family servant woman leave immediately with Abraham's servant and his men. 60They gave Rebekah their blessing and said, "We pray that God will give you many children and grandchildren and that he will help them defeat their enemies." 61 Afterwards, Rebekah and the young women who were to travel with her prepared to leave. Then they got on camels and left with Abraham's servant and his men. Isaac loved her and was comforted over the loss of his mother. Response: Hear the word of the Lord, THANKS BE TO GOD 6
Psalm: 45:10-12; 15-16 10 Hear, O daughter, consider and incline your ear: forget your own people and your father's house. 11 The king desires your beauty: he is your lord, therefore bow down before him. 12 The richest among the people, O daughter of Tyre: shall entreat your favour with gifts. 15 They are led with gladness and rejoicing: they enter the palace of the king. 16 In place of your fathers you shall have sons: and make them princes over all the land.

2. Jesus, Redeemer, may we remember your gracious passion, your resurrection. Worship we bring you, praise we shall sing you — Jesus, Redeemer, Jesus our Lord.
