Holy Redeemer Catholic School Annual Report 2022-2023
We are
GRATEFUL!
Dear parents and friends It is with great pride and gratitude that we bring to you the 2022-2023 Annual Report for Holy Redeemer Catholic School. This report reflects your generosity and support for our community, as well as our continued stewardship of what we have been given. We thank God for all His blessings including the opportunity to be a part of an excellent Catholic community and to have the unique opportunity to guide the faith and academic formation of the students entrusted to our care. Catholic identity and faith formation remain the cornerstone of our mission and of our educational program. Service to others is inherent in our teachings and is reflected in our actions serving the local and global community with projects undertaken by all students from our youngest to those ready to take the next step in their educational journey. The weekly opportunity to worship together as a school community is one of the responses that we always receive when we ask our graduating students what they valued during their time at our school. The 2022-2023 school year brought continued academic success to our students. We continue to receive feedback, hear stories and encounter those who tell us that our alumni thrive in their high schools and beyond and often attribute their success, at least in part, to the foundation they have received during their elementary years. Some of these successes are reflected in this report, but many more are experienced within our walls each day. The well-rounded education provided by our school and by the system of schools in our archdiocese is building the future of our Church and of our world. Your financial support during the 2022-2023 school year allowed us to purchase additional furniture for our common areas, portable stage extensions for our performances, interior and exterior security cameras, LED lighting in sections of our building and educational materials to support classroom instruction. The lives of our students and the wellbeing of our school are impacted directly by the gifts we receive. On behalf of the students, faculty and staff, I would like to extend my gratitude for your support and for allowing us to take part in the lives of these special young people. We are grateful for your belief in our school and in our mission and ask that you keep the students, staff and families of Holy Redeemer in your prayers. With gratitude,
Lauren Schell Principal

Service Projects Our school takes seriously Jesus’ command to live the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. From our kindergarteners to our eighth grade students, Holy Redeemer Catholic School’s mission of service to others is evident.
Kindergarten students begin their journey of service by creating Christmas stockings filled with items for Catholic Charities’ Refugee Resettlement children to use in their new homes.
Every February, in place of Valentine’s Day parties, every student participates in a Service from the Heart hour. Students work with their Saint Families on a variety of service projects to emphasize the love of Christ for everyone, especially those most in need.
Third Graders realize the potential within themselves to help others less fortunate by walking in the shoes of children who have been suddenly removed from their families. They use their talents to buy backpacks and items needed by the children assisted by the Foster Care Support Foundation.
First Graders multiply their talents and collect funds to purchase items needed by children in the Mustard Seed communities of Nicaragua. Second Graders reach out to their home and school communities by organizing a coat drive to collect coats for children and adults being assisted by the North Georgia area St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Fourth Graders heed the call of Pope Francis by through stewardship of God’s creation through a year-long recycling project on the Holy Redeemer campus.
Fifth Graders develop a business plan to reach out to their school and neighborhoods to collect new socks, pajamas and underwear for needy families received by North Fulton Community Charities. In Middle School, the students begin a formal program focused on the Corporal Works of Mercy. Sixth Graders work on projects designed to help the homeless in our local community. Seventh Graders explore the issue of hunger among low-income Georgians in the context of their faith and raise funds for local food banks by participating in a fundraiser walk to support the ministries associated with Atlanta Food Bank.
And the king will say to them in reply, “Amen, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
Eighth Graders host a fundraiser Dress Down Day and a baked goods raffle to support the life of the unborn babies of clients at the Pregnancy Aid Clinic. They also serve as hosts and hostesses for our annual Mardi Gras dinner. HR students also conduct three all-school food drives during the year to support the food pantries of neighboring parishes and organizations.

Giving opportunities Giving to Holy Redeemer School demonstrates your firm belief in the value of a Catholic education. When considering gifts to Holy Redeemer, remember there are many different giving options. All gifts benefit the school by helping to meet current operating expenses and supporting the exceptional programs and services we provide our students. As a bonus, most gifts are tax deductible. Our success has been and continues to be a direct reflection of the support of our community. To learn more, please contact Pauline Battaglia, Advancement and Enrollment Director, at 770410-4056 ext. 203 or pbattaglia@hrcatholicschool. org.
The Annual Fund is the foundation of giving at HR and the financial priority for our school. Gifts to the Annual Fund help bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate each student. Our goal is 100% parent, faculty and staff participation. The Gala, Raffle, Seasonal Events and HR Art Show are various events and activities held throughout the school year that supplement our fundraising efforts. Unrestricted Cash Contributions are a popular and convenient way to support Holy Redeemer Catholic School. Gifts can be made in a single contribution or pledged and paid in installments. Many businesses have Matching Gift Programs that will double or even triple a contribution from an employee and possibly from a spouse retiree. Information is available from your Human Resources office or the Advancement office. The Cheryl Hogan Fund was established by the Hogan Family in loving memory of Cheryl Hogan, our founding Business Manager, in recognition of her passion for helping families in need. The fund provides tuition assistance to families who demonstrate financial need. The Knights Of Columbus Financial Assistance Fund (Council 13204) is a newly established fund for HR students with financial need. Holding to their original mission to assist widows and orphans, preference is given to Catholic students from single parent homes with documented financial need. Gifts in Kind are non-cash gifts or items the school needs and uses such as computer equipment, office equipment or printing services. Gifts of Securities, Stock or Bonds benefit the donor and the school. This type of gift is tax-deductible and may help the donor avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciated stock or security. The most common Planned Giving is through donor bequests, trusts, gift annuities, real estate, memorial gifts, life insurance and other financial instruments. A codicil naming Holy Redeemer Catholic School as a beneficiary can be added to an existing will.
State taxpayers can donate to GRACE Scholars and qualify for the Georgia Private School Tax Credit. Money that would have gone to the State of Georgia is now supporting Catholic schools in Georgia.
Train a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not swerve from it. Proverbs 22:6
The Holy Redeemer Catholic School Endowment with the Catholic Foundation of North GA was established with a gift from Joseph Mitchell. This fund is in trust for HR through the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia. Donations can be made through the Foundation. #iGiveCatholic inspires faithful stewards to "Give Back and Give Catholic" on Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity and kindness. The #iGiveCatholic mission is to offer financial support to the organizations that help shape lives of faith…our parishes, schools and ministries.

#iGiveCatholic #iGiveCatholic inspires faithful stewards to "Give Back and Give Catholic" on Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity and kindness. The #iGiveCatholic mission is to unite Catholic followers and communities across the country to offer financial support to the organizations that helped shape their lives of faith… our parishes, schools and ministries. With your generous support on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, we exceeded our school goal of $10,000 with 78 donors raising more than $14,000 for updates to our Common Learning Areas (pods). These areas are the heart of our school. They allow our students the space to work collaboratively in small and larger groups. A large portion of the funds were used to replace old, outdated furniture with new modular tables and chairs that allow for increased flexibility in arrangement. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind. Psalm 78:4
