Military Appreciation Night

On Friday, September 5, 2025, Holy Family honored 30 current and former military personnel and first responders at the annual Military & First Responders Appreciation Night.

The event raised funds for Holy Family’s Freedom Scholarship, a half-tuition scholarship awarded to deserving students whose parents are or have been first responders, active-duty military personnel, or military veterans.

One special guest honored was Hal Weber, a 95-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, who received a commemorative plaque from his great-grandsons - junior Wyatt Ingalls, junior Austin Mireiter, and freshman Luke Ingalls.

“Serving in the Navy was one of the great honors of my life. To be recognized all these years later, especially by my own great-grandsons, is something I’ll treasure forever,” Weber said. “Seeing them carry on our family’s values means everything to me.”

Holy Family capped the night with a 41-26 victory over rival Roosevelt, but the true impact of the evening reached far beyond the scoreboard.

Celebrating Excellence The 2025 Holy Family Hall of Honor On September 17, 2025, we welcomed the fifth class into the Holy Family High School Hall of Honor at The Ranch Country Club. These extraordinary individuals have shaped our school through faith, service, and leadership, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire students, alumni, and the broader community.

The Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Maggie Grout ‘17, who at 15 founded Thinking Huts, a nonprofit using 3D printing to build schools in underserved communities. In 2022, she opened her first school in Madagascar, with plans for Kenya and beyond. Recently named a “Next Generation Leader” by TIME Magazine, Maggie embodies the courage and vision Holy Family seeks to instill in every student.

That same spirit of dedication is reflected in Mike and Susan Walker, whose leadership on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee, as well as their work on the PACE Committee, helped guide the school’s move to a new campus. Their commitment exemplifies parents willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure the school thrives.

Bob ‘76 and Georgeann ‘77 Bell have left an enduring mark through service and generosity. Bob served on the Board and as Booster Club president, and together they founded Food for Thought Denver, providing weekend meals to thousands of children across 75 schools.

For more than 25 years, Dave Good has shaped lives as a theology teacher and coach. His pilgrimages to Italy give students the opportunity to experience the roots of their Catholic faith firsthand, combining learning with spiritual formation.

Since 2012, Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila has played a pivotal role in shaping Holy Family’s future, guiding the 2018 school expansion and strengthening Catholic education across the Archdiocese through courage, vision, and collaboration.

Homecoming Holy Family’s 2025 Homecoming Week was full of Tiger pride. Students embraced themed dress days, competitions and rallied together at Friday’s pep event. The annual Chili Supper brought hundreds of alumni, families, and the Class of 1995 together as part of their 30-year reunion - kicking off the evening before the Tigers took on Lewis-Palmer. At halftime, seniors Cade Jany and Natalia Kingsley were crowned Homecoming King and Queen, rounding out a night that celebrated tradition, community, and what makes Holy Family feel like home.

The Rise of Student Photographers Behind the Lens At any Holy Family event - whether it’s the rush of a Friday night football game, the glow of a choir performance, or the emotion of the Hall of Honor ceremony - it’s becoming increasingly common to see a student photographer tucked along the sidelines, camera in hand, ready to capture the moment. What began as a handful of students with an interest in photography has grown into a creative movement shaping how the school tells its story.

For freshman Kieran Kenny, that story began years before high school with an old point-and-shoot camera he discovered in a drawer at home. “I didn’t realize at the time that it would become one of the greatest things I’d ever found,” he says. By eighth grade, he had saved enough money to buy his first professional camera and began photographing middle school cross-country meets. That path led him to Holy Family’s 2024 Military Night football game - his first major event and the moment he realized photography could become more than a hobby.

Kieran now shoots everything from athletics to Mass to school ceremonies.

“It gets me out of my bubble,” he says.

“A picture keeps the moment alive.” His work has taken him to state championships, media days, and countless experiences that have broadened how he sees the Holy Family community.

Junior Mary Siurek discovered the same spark of creativity as a freshman.

“I first got interested in photography when I saw all the people in yearbook taking pictures at games,” she says.

“My favorite part is capturing a team’s energy and their best moments. It’s a great feeling when I can photograph a hug between teammates or coaches.”

Photography, she adds, has helped her appreciate sports she once overlooked and she hopes to continue after graduation by helping her sister launch a photography business.

Sophomore Brody Vonderhofen picked up a camera more recently, diving into photography in the spring of 2024. As an athlete, sports photography came naturally. “I’ve gotten so much better at everything,” he says. “I come into shoots more confident, and editing has opened up a whole new world.” He loves the excitement his work generates and hopes to eventually pursue a creative position in college and work in sports media.

They’re not alone. Seniors Madison Villaverde and Kailyn Tucker have also stepped behind the lens, contributing thousands of photos that bring Holy Family’s story to life. Madison says her favorite part is “seeing the emotions on the fans’ faces during sporting events, capturing the team’s reactions, and watching how the whole school comes together for sports and activities.” From theater productions to concerts to moments of faith, their images fill the school’s marketing channels and help families, alumni, and future students experience Holy Family through a student’s eyes.

What makes this group special isn’t just their technical skill - it’s their perspective. They capture the spirit of the school not as observers, but as participants, preserving moments that might otherwise go unseen. And as these young photographers continue to grow, experiment, and share their work, they remind the Holy Family community of something essential: the school looks different, and often more beautiful, when seen through the eyes of its students.

Guided by Faith Inspired by Students Dave Good

Reflects on decades of teaching, coaching, and leading with heart at Holy Family.

For nearly three decades, Dave Good has been an unwavering presence at Holy Family, shaping lives with faith, patience, and genuine care. Recently inducted into the Holy Family Hall of Honor, Good’s tenure has been marked by a rare mix of devotion, energy, and, seemingly, timeless youth. He began his journey in the fall of 1994 and has since become one of its most beloved teachers, mentors, and guides.

Good’s path to Holy Family was far from conventional. After graduating from Michigan State University, he moved to Denver to work in the HVAC industry. While he enjoyed the technical work, he quickly realized something was missing.

“I became the volunteer youth leader at St. Thomas More Parish and coached a youth baseball team,” he recalls. “I found myself drawn more to that than my work life and felt like God might be calling me to do that full time.” Raised in a large Catholic family, Good had been inspired by examples of priestly life around him, and he initially entered the seminary, exploring a potential vocation in the priesthood.

It was during his time in seminary that Good began to discover his true calling. “I found myself working with young people, either as a retreat leader or teacher, and really enjoyed it,” he says. “It became clear that the Lord was calling me to full-time work with young people, not priestly ministry.” Though leaving seminary was difficult, he cherishes those years, citing the friendships and formative experiences they provided. “Seminary afforded me the time to really listen to how God was moving in my life and discern how He wanted to use me. I wouldn’t change a minute of it.”

Good sees teaching not merely as a career but as a vocation, a ministry in its own right. “I’ve always seen this work as a calling,” he says. “It’s a way to journey with young people as they grow closer to Christ. That’s why we do this work - it’s a privilege and an honor.” At the heart of Good’s teaching is his faith. He brings Scripture to life for students, revealing the timeless ways God seeks and loves each of us.

When he first considered teaching at Holy Family, Good was guided by providence and mentorship. A priest he admired, Fr. Tom McCormick, told him a small Catholic high school in North Denver might be hiring. After a brief interview with then-principal Sister Mary Rose, Good was offered a position.

“I started prepping for classes that night and couldn’t wait to start,” he recalls. That excitement hasn’t waned. “Every August, I feel the same thrill in planning and finding new ways to teach the faith.”

Beyond the classroom, Good has made a lasting impact on Holy Family athletics. When he was first hired, Sister Mary Rose encouraged him to revive the school’s dormant cross country program. Under his guidance, the team flourished. Good served as head coach for 24 years, leading the team to state titles and fostering a culture of perseverance and teamwork.

Now working alongside the staff as an assistant, he remains a pillar of the program, mentoring younger athletes and coaches with his trademark patience, faith, and genuine care.

Good describes Holy Family as a community that feels like family. “The staff and students genuinely care for each other - it’s evident in the daily interactions, the banter, the way we hold each other accountable, and the way we pray with and for each other,” he explains. “There’s something special about Holy Family. You can feel the shared faith journey as soon as you walk in.”

Among the countless meaningful moments at Holy Family, one stands out vividly for Good: listening to his colleague, the late Steve Blair, deliver his famous ‘masks’ talk during KAIROS retreats. ‘Steve had such a powerful way of moving the kids - and all of us - to examine the ways we tend to hide behind masks,’ Good recalls. ‘It was one of the most moving

experiences I’ve ever had, and it’s something generations of students will remember for years to come.’ Experiences like this, combined with retreats, service trips, and classroom discussions, have shaped Good’s perspective on teaching and mentoring, emphasizing authenticity, vulnerability, and faith in action.

Over the years, Good has guided generations of students not only academically but spiritually. He hopes that, long after they leave his classroom, they remember the way God continually seeks out and loves them. “I hope they felt cared for,” he says. “I remember their personalities, their laughter, their struggles - it’s never been about grades for me.” Many former students continue to include him in milestones, inviting him to weddings or sending their own children to Holy Family, a testament to the trust and impact he has cultivated.

Perhaps most memorable are the pilgrimages to Italy that Good has led with rising seniors for nearly 20 years.

Meticulously planned - from Mass locations to historical tours and meals - these trips allow students to experience the roots of their Catholic faith in a deeply personal way.

“Walking with students through Assisi, praying at the tomb of St. Francis, experiencing the universality of the Church at St. Peter’s Square - it’s a privilege,” Good says. “I love seeing their eyes light up during discussions, during parables, during every moment of learning.”

Reflecting on his career, Good offers advice that reveals the heart behind his vocation. “The syllabus will come second to the way you make students feel,” he says. “Yes, there’s content to teach, but what kids take away is how they felt. I hope they felt loved.” Whether through classroom lessons, cross country meets, or journeys to Italy, Dave Good’s influence has been enduring, shaping not just students’ knowledge but their hearts.

Looking ahead, he remains humble about his legacy. “I just hope they remember a teacher who cared and did his best to guide them through high school,” he says. “I’ve played a small part in a wonderful school community that helps shepherd kids into adulthood, mindful that God is calling them to a great adventure - a friendship with Him.” Through decades of teaching, coaching, and mentoring, Dave Good has become more than a teacher - he is the heart of Holy Family, a living testament to faith, dedication, and the transformative power of caring deeply for others.

FOOTBALL Head Coach: Mike D. Gabriel

Season Record: 11-2, 5-0 and champion of the 3A Metro Conference; lost 21-14 in the Class 3A semifinals to Windsor.

Team Captains: Jeremiah Stephens, Browen Wills, Brady Anderson, Kaden Hopkin, Cade Jany and Nick Gabriel.

The Tigers will look back at this season in a couple of years and realize it was the building block to something very special. Coach Mike Gabriel’s team fought and scrapped for everything they had, which included a 14-7 lead going to the fourth quarter. The Tigers will have plenty to work with in the coming years, led by a lights out sophomore class. Sophomore Quarterback Kaden Hopkin threw for over 2,700 yards and 29 touchdowns, Sophomore Wide Receiver Nick Leopardi hauled in 10 touchdown receptions, and Sophomore Running Back Gage Gunderson scored 12 total touchdowns on the season. The future is bright for the Tigers!

Academic All-State: Eight Tigers earned 1st Team Academic All-State Honors: Bradley Pelletier, William Perrotto, Jackson Perry, Jace Pitre, Kaden Sexauer, Sebastian Trieu, Ryan Vorlage, and Logan Welch. Seven earned Honorable Mention honors: Adam Moore, Kai Osburn, Ash Price, Chance Stuber, Cyril Sulley, Vincent Tyler, and Browen Wills.

SOFTBALL Head Coach: Moriah Nguyen

Season Record: 25-4 overall and 10-1 in the Granite Peaks League; beat Windsor 7-4 in the Class 4A state title game.

Team Captains: Emmaline Humphreys, Giuliana Magnetti, Jaelyn Sandoval and Jasmine Hernandez.

The Tigers won their fifth state title and first since 2021, rallying from an early 4-0 deficit to defeat the Wizards 7-4. Senior Jaelyn Sandoval, who was named the Granite Peaks League Player of the Year delivered the go-ahead hit in the decisive six run fourth inning. It was all in support of Stanford-signee and ace Emmaline Humphreys, who struck out 280 batters in 129 innings this season with a nifty 0.81 earned run average. Holy Family has won eight consecutive regional titles.

Coming off a Class 3A state title, the Tigers entered the new season with high expectations. They knew every opponent would bring its best and early on, those tests came fast. Holy Family won its first four games against playoff teams before losing a title game rematch with Jefferson Academy 1-0. The strength of the Tigers league schedule was still good enough to get them into the field of 32, but to defend their title they would have to do so on the road as the No. 25 overall seed. They lost 3-1 in the opening round to Coal Ridge. Senior Oliver Hansen led the team with 11 goals.

All-State/Conference: Oliver Hansen (2nd Team All-State, 1st Team All-Conference).

Academic All-State: Eleven Tigers were named 1st Team Academic All-State: Kevin Burke, Miguel Chacon, Michele Curto, Ephraim Gray, Julian Gray, Dominic Guevara, Cooper Kilcoyne, Logan Manley, Jack Nolan, Tobechi Tetenta, and Andrew Vera. Three were named Honorable Mention: Simon Hageman, Max Lombardi, and Nicholas Pallas.

VOLLEYBALL Head Coach: Jenna Gallas

Season Record: 8-17 overall and 5-8 in the Granite Peaks League; lost in the regional tournament at Mullen.

Team Captains: Teagan Diaz and Caroline Staff.

The Tigers were young, with just one senior on their roster. And despite the overall lack of varsity experience, coach Jenna Gallas’ team battled. Perhaps no team in the state played as many five set matches as the Tigers did, seven in all, throughout the season. The biggest win of the season came late in September when the Tigers rallied to beat (at the time) No. 2 Mead in five sets, including a thrilling 18-16 fifth. Sophomore Jordyn Fox was the Tigers go-to weapon on offense and finished with a team leading 262 kills en route to earning first team All-Conference honors.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY Head Coach: Isaiah Remington

Season Record: Finished 3rd at the Class 4A Region 3 meet, 12th at the Class 4A state meet.

If there is one team that has had to grind for everything over the past few years, it’s this group of runners. Nothing has come easy for the Tigers since the move to 4A, but they have persevered and made the absolute most of every challenge. The Tigers were led by senior James Grothe, a model of consistency all season long, capped by his best race when his team needed it most. His fourth-place finish in Lyons proved crucial, helping the Tigers - who needed a top-four result to qualify for state - secure a third-place team finish. At state, the Tigers raced to a 12th place finish.

All-State/Conference: Grothe (2nd Team All-Conference, Honorable Mention All-State); Hudson Stoll (Honorable Mention All-State).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY Head Coach: Isaiah Remington

In just their second year in Class 4A, the Tigers have steadily improved under Coach Remington. Facing the pressure of needing a top-four finish at the regional meet in Lyons to qualify for the state meet in Colorado Springs, Holy Family placed all five of their scoring runners in the top 11 - and quite literally ran away with the team title.

Amongst the best the state has to offer at Norris Penrose Event Center, junior Liberty Ley would finish 15th and McIntosh 16th on the demanding state course. They would head to Phoenix two weeks later to race at the Nike SouthWest Regional and finished third in the small school race among 30 schools.

All-State/Conference: McIntosh (2nd Team All-Conference; Honorable Mention All-State); Ley (2nd Team All-Conference; Honorable Mention All-State); Pyper Jones (Honorable mention All-Conference and All-State).

BOYS GOLF Head Coach: Will Wilson

Season Record: Finished 12th at the Class 3A state tournament in Eagle.

Seniors: Bobby Flaherty, Oliver Kinsel and Walker St. Germain.

As the only 3A team in the loaded Granite Peaks League - which included the 5A medalist and runner-up as well as the 4A team champion - the Tigers more than held their own all season. This year, the state association eliminated the regional tournament for state qualification, instead relying on regular-season rankings. Holy Family placed six in the top 84, from which they could count four toward the state meet. Ultimately, they sent three players - Flaherty, sophomore Alex Kilpatrick and freshman Andrew DeGrassi – to the Eagle Ranch Club for state. Flaherty was tied for fifth after Day 1, shooting a fantastic even-par 72, and earned second team all-state honors with a 13th place finish.

Congratulations State Champions Holy Family Softball On a brisk October afternoon at Aurora Sports Park, the Tigers showed what it looks like when belief meets determination.

Trailing early against top-seeded Windsor, the Tigers never flinched - rallying for a 7-4 victory and the program’s first Class 4A state championship since 2021.

Senior ace and Stanford commit Emmaline Humphreys delivered a performance that will be remembered for years, striking out 13 and allowing just one hit in 6 2/3 innings. The final out - her 284th strikeout of the season - sealed a 19 – 4 record and a dazzling 0.84 ERA. Yet, in true Tiger fashion, she kept the spotlight on the team: “I’m just glad we won.”

Head coach Moriah Nguyen credited the championship to more than talent. This group’s bond - forged through trust, sacrifice, and genuine love for one another - became their competitive edge. “You have a feeling when they truly care for one another,” he said.

Holy Family Gymnasts Help Niwot Repeat as State Champions Holy Family may not field a gymnastics team, but three Tigers played a major role in earning a state crown. Seniors Lilly O’Neill and Kylee Schlepp, along with sophomore Charlotte O’Neill, helped Niwot secure its second straight Class 4A state championship.

Helping Shape the Future of the NHL

When Holy Family senior Kailyn Tucker ‘26 applied for the National Hockey League’s Power Players program - an initiative that selects young hockey fans to advise the league on how to connect with the next generation - she did it with the encouragement of her parents. “They always told me to go for the things I want, because the worst thing that can happen is that the answer is no,” she says. When her acceptance email arrived, excitement took over. She was one of only a small group chosen from across North America.

Kailyn’s love of hockey is relatively new, sparked unexpectedly at her first game at age 14. She initially attended only because it was “swim night,” where she had the chance to meet Olympic swimmer Michael Andrew.

But the moment the puck dropped, she was hooked. Hockey soon became something she deeply connected with - especially with her dad, Holy Family Alum James Tucker '97. “Hockey strengthened our relationship,” she says. “It became our thing.”

As a member of the NHL Power Players, Kailyn participates in discussions with league leaders throughout the year, sharing feedback on marketing, fan experiences, social content, and ways to grow the game among younger audiences. The role has helped her find her voice. “Power Players has really helped me get confident sharing my ideas,” she says. “I’m excited to learn how one of the biggest leagues develops and markets its ideas.”

After attending both the NHL Winter Classic at Wrigley Field and the Four Nations Faceoff in Montreal, Kailyn has begun shaping ideas influenced by her own experiences. “There are so many ways the NHL can collaborate with cities to make events feel bigger and more connected,” she says.

Kailyn also wants the league to lean into personality-driven content. “This generation wants to see things they can relate to. They don’t just want to see who the players are on the ice - they want to see who they are off the ice.”

Her most memorable moment in the program came during the Four Nations Faceoff, a trip she shared with her dad.

They spent an entire day immersed in hockey - Finland vs Sweden followed by USA vs. Canada - and when a snowstorm

delayed their flight home by two days, it became an unexpected gift. “We got even more time to explore Montreal and just be together,” she says.

Looking ahead, Kailyn sees Power Players as a glimpse into her future.

“I’m gaining real-world experience that helps solidify what I want to do,” she says. “I’ve also made friendships with people who share my interests.”

Next year, she plans to double major in Marketing and Communications, with a focus on journalism and media.

Her dream? To work in professional sports - running social media for a team, contributing to a marketing department, or even photographing games from ice level.

Kailyn is already making her mark on the sport she loves - and she’s just getting started.

Building Stronger Athletes & Stronger People Justin Brennan

Holy Family's Strength and Conditioning Director

For Holy Family’s new Director of Strength and Conditioning, Justin Brennan, the path to coaching began long before he ever made it a career.

Brennan describes himself as an average athlete - someone who had to work harder than others to gain an edge. That effort, combined with a series of injuries, sparked a deep interest in understanding how the body works, how athletes can perform at their highest level, and how injuries can be prevented.

That early curiosity became a calling.

Brennan earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, followed by a master’s in Exercise Science. During his final year of college, he volunteered at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati.

That experience led to internships and coaching roles at schools including, Ole Miss, Maryland, and five years at CU. Most recently, he spent four years at Jenison High School in Michigan, where he built the strength program from the ground up. Each stop, he says, shaped the coach he is today.

“I’ve been fortunate to work with and learn from a lot of great coaches,” Brennan explains. “But the biggest influence has been Drew Wilson, who I spent seven years with between Maryland and Colorado. He helped me 22

HOLY FAMILY | Fall 2025

understand that we’re coaching people - not weights.” It’s a philosophy Brennan carries into every training session: performance matters, but the impact on a student’s confidence, character, and long-term health matters just as much.

That mindset also guides how he designs programs for both studentathletes and general P.E. students.

Whether a student competes in three sports or none, Brennan believes everyone benefits from training like an athlete - building strength, balance, mobility, coordination, and overall resilience.

At Holy Family, Brennan’s goal is to train athletes who are resilient and physically dominant, starting with a strong foundation of force production – the ability to create strength and power that transfers to sprinting, jumping, changing direction, and staying healthy throughout the season. His approach is holistic:

strength training, speed development, mobility work, conditioning, and injury-prevention strategies all play a role. “I don’t make athletes better at their specific sport - that’s the job of the sport coach,” he says. “But I can make them better athletes so they can perform their skills at a higher level.”

Brennan also believes strongly in the character-building power of training.

Confidence, he says, is earned through consistent effort. Discipline, attention to detail, peer accountability, and the ability to push through discomfort are skills that shape students far beyond their athletic careers.

Ultimately, Brennan hopes every student leaves his program not just stronger, but transformed - physically, mentally, and personally. “Health is wealth,” he says. “We only get one body. I want our students to build habits that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.”

• After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she moved to Chicago and worked for an estate sale company. She then spent two months traveling through Europe before returning to pursue graduate school in teaching at Miami University.

• Her student teaching took place in the Chicago Public Schools, followed by a year teaching at a Catholic school in Chicago. When COVID hit, she relocated to Colorado - and she’s been part of the Holy Family community ever since.

• She’s number 3 in a family of 6 (4 girls and 2 boys), ranging in age from 40 to 22. She’s been married to her husband Mike for 5 years, and they have 2 children, Georgia, almost 4, and Wesley, 1.5.

What do you love about teaching at Holy Family?

The faculty and staff are amazing. They are competent, caring, and fun! I also love the part-time flexibility the school offers me as a parent to young children. I feel really blessed and supported.

Favorite sports team? Cincinnati Bengals, no loyalty to any college teams, except to say that I do NOT like Ohio State.

Alumni Spotlight Gabe Middleton ‘06 TURNING OLD TECH INTO NEW OPPORTUNITIES

For Gabe Middleton ʻ06, solving big problems starts with a simple question: What happens to our old tech?

As co-founder and CEO of Human-I-T, a national nonprofit social enterprise, Gabe has built an organization that transforms unused electronics into life-changing tools for people who need them most.

Human-I-T’s model is both environmentally smart and socially powerful.

The organization collects surplus technology from corporations, securely refurbishes it, and redistributes it to individuals and communities who lack digital resources. What began in a garage has grown into a national operation supported by a team of roughly 200 people. To date, Human-I-T has diverted over 20 million pounds of e-waste and placed more than 500,000 refurbished devices into the hands of families, students, and job‑seekers.

Gabe believes the stakes are high.

A recent UN report estimates global e-waste surged to 62 million metric tons in 2022, while 2.6 billion people remain offline. To Gabe, those issues go hand in hand. “Across the country, valuable technology is sitting idle or headed for landfills,” he said. “By upcycling these resources, we protect the environment and bridge the digital divide - giving devices a second life and people their first chance to thrive digitally.”

Human-I-T partners with major institutions, including Disney Studio Technology, General Motors, Rocket, and Live Nation, among others, to recover unused technology. But the work extends far beyond devices. They also provide affordable internet access, digital skills training, and longterm tech support, ensuring people have the tools and connectivity they need to fully participate in today’s world.

Gabe’s path didn’t follow a straight line. Born in East Los Angeles and raised throughout the Southwest due to his father’s career, he learned early how to adapt to new environments. After graduating from Holy Family, he attended California State University, Long Beach, majoring in psychology. While there, he spent time supporting veterans facing mental health challenges at the Veterans Hospital near campus - an experience that shaped his understanding of service and impact.

After college, Gabe explored law school, technology, and public service, but none of those paths felt quite right.

Everything changed when he returned to Colorado and met his future business partner, James Jack. The two quickly bonded over a shared interest in sustainability, tech, and economic mobility. Before long, they were sketching out what would become Human‑I‑T.

He encouraged me when I needed it and held me accountable when I fell short. Looking back, I’m grateful for it.”

Those moments shaped how he thinks about teamwork today. “Building something meaningful with other people that started at Holy Family.”

Today, Gabe oversees Human-I-T’s national strategy, organizational health, and company vision. “As CEO, my job is to work on the business, not in the business,” he explains.

“It’s a lot of strategy, communication, and making sure our nearly 200 teammates have what they need to succeed.”

After spending the last three years in New York City, Gabe recently returned to Los Angeles with his wife and newborn son. “It’s been incredibly meaningful to bring our growing family back home,” he says.

From his roots at Holy Family to leading a nationally recognized social enterprise, Gabe Middleton is a powerful example of how purpose, innovation, and compassion can change lives – and how one Tiger’s path can help rewrite futures for thousands.

They launched in 2012, working out of a cell phone repair shop lobby and living at Gabe’s grandpa’s house to save money. Their persistence paid off: the organization gained national attention, earning a HALO Award, the eBay SHINE Award, and recognition from the Coors Light Líderes program. With each milestone, Human‑I‑T’s reach and Gabe’s leadership continued to grow.

Gabe traces much of his leadership style back to his years at Holy Family. “Being captain of the basketball team my senior year at Holy Family taught me that leadership isn’t just about how hard you work; it’s about how you show up for others,” he says. “I didn’t want to ask anything of others that I wasn’t willing to do myself.” He credits former coach Jim Mason as a key influence: “He saw my leadership potential before I fully recognized it in myself.

Gabe Middleton joined Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and members of his office for a tour of Human-I-T’s Focus: HOPE facility. The visit highlighted Human-I-T’s partnership with the City of Detroit to close the digital divide by providing residents with free devices, digital literacy training, affordable internet options, and ongoing tech support.

Dr. Thomas Spellman ‘06

Dr. Thomas Spellman has built a career rooted in service, compassion, and community. After graduating from Holy Family, he earned his BS and DDS from Creighton University, where he volunteered extensively - providing more than 150 hours of free dental care at the One World Clinic, promoting healthy habits in local schools, and spending eight weeks serving patients in the Dominican Republic through Creighton’s Institute for Latin American Concerns program.

Thomas began his career in Fargo, ND, working with South University Dental Associates. He and his wife Stacey - also a dentist and Creighton alum - returned to Colorado in 2018 to purchase Thomas’s childhood dental practice. They have since expanded, merging with a second office in 2022 and moving into a new location with a view of Holy Family.

Now practicing together and raising their two children, Thomas carries forward the best advice he received: treat every patient like family, and always do your best not to hurt anyone!

Bailey Jones ‘21 Meg Anguiano ‘09 Bailey honed her leadership skills as a student-athlete at Holy Family, captaining both the lacrosse and swim teams. Her influence extended beyond athletics, guiding freshmen through the Freshman Families program and hosting shadow days for prospective students—an early foundation in discipline, teamwork, and service that would shape her collegiate journey.

At Montana State University in Bozeman, Bailey earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2025 while taking on numerous leadership roles. Within her sorority, Delta Gamma, she quickly rose to Vice President of Foundation during her freshman year, helping raise funds to support individuals with visual impairments, and later served as Chapter President as a sophomore. Her dedication to service expanded further when she was elected Vice President of Standards and Scholarship for the National Panhellenic Conference.

Bailey’s commitment to student advocacy culminated in her election as Vice President of the MSU Student Body, where she championed student voices and campus engagement. She also worked as a campus tour guide, her favorite role, inspiring prospective students to see themselves at Montana State.

Today, Bailey continues to lead and serve, working as Programming Advisor for Delta Gamma at UCLA and as Assistant Director of Engagement for the Montana State University Alumni Foundation, where she previously interned. From Holy Family to MSU and beyond, Bailey’s journey reflects a dedication to leadership, service, and empowering others.

Meg Anguiano ’09 is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and the CEO of Nurture Wellness and Aesthetics in Cherry Creek, where she blends dermatology, functional medicine, and regenerative approaches to help patients look and feel their best. After graduating from Holy Family, she moved directly into nursing school and began her career at Children’s Hospital. Drawn to skin health, she transitioned into dermatology in 2018 and has since built a thriving practice.

At Holy Family, Meg played varsity soccer and hadn’t yet discovered her path, but with medicine in her family, nursing became the perfect fit. She earned her undergraduate degree from Regis University - an experience she highly recommends.

Meg credits world travel, stepping outside her comfort zone, and the strong foundation built at Holy Family for shaping her into the entrepreneur she is today. Her advice to students: trust yourself, embrace challenges, and enjoy the journey.

Holy Family Class of 2020 graduate Makayla Salter has turned her passion for athletics and marketing into an impressive early career in sports marketing. After graduating, she earned her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas and is currently pursuing her M.B.A. at MSU Denver.

While at KU, Makayla interned with Kansas Athletics. She led marketing plans for Baseball and Women’s Basketball, supported gameday activations across all sports, and helped execute high-profile events.

Today, she serves as the Marketing and Social Media Coordinator for MSU Denver Athletics, creating marketing and social strategies to elevate teams and student-athletes while enhancing fan and student engagement at athletic events.

Makayla has also volunteered at major sporting events, including Denver’s hosting of the 2025 March Madness tournament and the Savannah Bananas national tour. Her experience, dedication, and drive have positioned her for success in the competitive field of sports marketing.

Chuck Hollwedel ‘13

Chuck graduated from the University of Kansas in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Health, Sport, and Exercise Science.

At KU, he was deeply involved in the St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center, serving as President of the Student Advisory Council. He also completed internships in the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Lab and the athletic department at Benedictine College - an opportunity that led to his first full-time position as Benedictine’s inaugural Director of Athletic Performance.

In 2020, Chuck earned his Master of Science in Human Sport Performance from Concordia University Chicago, further honing his expertise in physiology, training science, and athlete development.

Today, Chuck is back at KU, advancing his career in collegiate sport performance. He works with KU’s softball, rowing, and men’s basketball programs, translating performance data force plates, velocity-based training, GPS, and accelerometer metrics - into actionable adjustments to optimize athlete development.

“Working at my alma mater has been an amazing opportunity,” Chuck says. “What we are doing at KU is truly remarkable and continues to push the field of sport performance forward.” His work is closely tied to KU’s research initiatives, blending real-time training data into scientific studies.

From student intern to Division I performance specialist, Chuck’s journey reflects a commitment to excellence - and a passion for helping athletes unlock their full potential.

Jared graduated from Bucknell University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Finance, earning the prestigious Bucknell Prize in Finance.

Alongside his academics, he competed on Bucknell’s Division I Men’s Lacrosse team, and also found time to minor in Religious Studies and serve as a member of the Bucknell Student Managed Investment Fund.

Today, Jared lives and works in New York City, where he is part of the Infrastructure Private Equity team at Ares Management, a leading global alternative investment manager.

Before joining Ares, he worked at Solomon Partners as an Investment Banking Analyst and Associate, covering Infrastructure, Power, and Renewables.

Beyond the professional grind, Jared recently got engaged to Georgia Shell - the two met during their time at Bucknell.

Alex Comeaux ‘15

After graduating from Holy Family, Alex Comeaux ‘15 continued his family legacy at LSU, earning a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2019. He eventually made his way back to Colorado, where he became a licensed Professional Engineer and now consults for municipalities on major transportation projects - including the recently completed and widely celebrated 16th Street Mall Reconstruction in downtown Denver.

In 2023, he married fellow Tiger Kamryn Brothers ʻ16, adding another chapter to their shared Holy Family story. Over the past two winters, he’s also given back to the community by coaching in the Holy Family boys basketball feeder program, passing along his (self-proclaimed) vast basketball wisdom to the next generation of Tiger hoopers.
