A Message From Brian McBride Dear Friends and Supporters, This fall, I attended an orientation seminar with the Holy Child Network of Schools, where I learned more about the legacy and spirit of our foundress, Cornelia Connelly; the Holy Child Goals, which represent the shared principles and values that guide all Holy Child schools; and the histories of Holy Child schools around the world. As we celebrate Holy Child School at Rosemont’s 75th Anniversary this year, I have also been learning about our unique school history: We are not only proud members of the Holy Child School network but also a thriving community faithfully serving the Main Line. This issue of “Cachet” celebrates our school’s history and the enduring traditions that have helped shape our distinct community spirit.

I have learned that “Holy Child schools offer an education that has a distinctive spirit...and each school incorporates this spirit while articulating the characteristics of the school to respond to its own particular community.” In my time at Holy Child, I have felt the school’s distinctive spirit in the daily routines of school life; in the interactions with students, faculty, and staff; and especially in our treasured traditions such as the Mass of the Holy Spirit, Homecoming, and the Christmas Concert. As a new Head of School, I am experiencing these community-building traditions for the fi st time, and it is apparent to me that these rituals encourage ongoing connections, foster a feeling of belonging, reinforce our shared values, and provide space for meaningful reflection.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit was one of the fi st school traditions I experienced with our community, and it coincided with my installation and that of our Student Council. A longstanding tradition for Catholic schools, the Mass of the Holy Spirit invites us to seek the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. While that day was emotional for me with family and friends in attendance, I felt something that I believed was either the Holy Spirit — or the Holy Child spirit — in my heart. I felt surprisingly calm and peaceful, sensing the genuine support and care of the greater Holy Child community that has welcomed me in.

The indelible spirit of our community, a key part of our school’s identity, is nourished and enriched by our traditions. Cornelia Connelly wrote about “love in action,” and I feel love in action every day at Holy Child: in our daily interactions and displays of kindness and particularly during our celebrations when we carry on the spirit of Cornelia Connelly and all of the other community members, past and present, who have been a part of Holy Child’s 75-year legacy.

As we celebrate and honor the 75-year legacy of Holy Child School at Rosemont — a school that has been known by many names during its history — it is important to reflect on the traditions that root us in our Holy Child mission and identity. Our archives have provided us with a glimpse into our history through photos, revealing the origins of many traditions that our community continues to know and love today. These traditions were inspired by our Foundress Cornelia Connelly’s vision for education, where the arts, physical play, and selfexpression are central elements of a holistic approach to a child’s education. While society, technology, and trends have changed, our traditions are a common thread that weave us together into the greater fabric of Holy Child’s history.

75 years of education In 1949, Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus formed the School of the Holy Child Jesus and welcomed 22 boys and girls into the Tudor mansion designed by famous Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer. Originally a family home, the Tudor Building brings to life Cornelia Connelly’s belief that effective teaching can best occur in a homelike atmosphere. While lessons have changed, delivering an education in a loving, supportive, and joyful environment has always been the focus of our school.

One of the biggest areas of growth in 75 years has been due to the development of technology. Computer class was once its own class, where children sat at desktop computers and took typing lessons; now our classrooms are outfit ed with Smartboards, children are equipped with Chromebooks, and faculty supplement their lessons with videos and interactive online games.

75 years of faith An important part of our Holy Child School mission is supporting students’ development of a personal faith relationship with God. Prayer services, Masses, and the second-grade sacramental program are essential components of each school year, providing opportunities to gather and pray together as a community.

Incorporating our students into prayer services and Masses has been a long-standing tradition at our school; it teaches children about the elements of the Mass and how they all work together to create a celebration. Many alumni remember hosting the annual Advent assembly in the Tudor Building, with classes winding up the grand staircase. Now our Fitzgerald Performing Arts and Athletic Center and prayer grotto provide our growing community with more and different spaces to practice our faith.

75 years of cocurricular experiences Cocurricular pursuits that extend learning opportunities beyond the classroom have long been a staple of a Holy Child education. Learning about sportsmanship and collaboration through sports at Holy Child began as early as the 1950s, when the school provided students with the chance to play field hockey, football, and basketball. These sports continue to be part of our athletic program today, albeit in upgraded facilities due to many campus expansion efforts over the years. The annual Spring Play also has its roots in the 1950s; the original performance was “Peter Pan” in 1959, which was replicated

by Holy Child Middle School students over 30 years later in 1993. The Spring Play is one of many annual performances that continue to honor Cornelia Connelly’s vision that the arts are a vital part of a well-rounded education.

75 years of joy As a mother, teacher, and nun, Cornelia Connelly recognized that happy children learn better. The joy of our students over the past 75 years has inspired our community, faculty, and staff, and it is the reason why our most fun, engaging, and laughter-filled t aditions continue to this day. Some of the memories that make our alumni smile the most are the Homecoming pep rally, the talent show, field d y, and sledding day. Generations of Holy Child graduates have many shared experiences, and sledding day is a longtime tradition that is unique to our school and has roots in the 1950s. On especially snowy school days, our faculty and staff suspend cla ses for the day so that our students may indulge in the joys of sledding down the hills of Wendover Field. Sled designs and winterwear trends may change, but the joyful cheers of our students sledding with their classmates on a bright winter day is a beloved memory shared by many Holy Child alumni.

Celebrating Our 75-year History and Legacy On Saturday, November 4, 2023, over 275 members of the greater Holy Child community gathered to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Holy Child School at Rosemont. The evening began with Mass in the O’Neill Gymnasium, celebrated by Rev. William Woody, S.J. ’03, as the presider and Msgr. John Jagodzinski as the concelebrant. In his homily, Fr. Woody reflected on Cornelia Connelly’s motto, “Actions, Not Words,” saying it is “a faithful and faith-filled approach to the Christian life that characterizes ‘the joyous, personal faith commitment’ that [Holy Child School at Rosemont] seeks to instill — that it fosters in shaping the hearts and minds of young people still to this very day and for generations to come.”

Matt Taylor ’78’s words beautifully summarized the legacy of our school: “Holy Child is 75 years strong because of the vision of Cornelia Connelly and the execution of that vision by the Sisters and the dedicated faculty and staff f this great institution.”

Following the Mass, a program and reception were held in the Fitzgerald Performing Arts and Athletic Center, offering alumni, parents of students past and present, Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus, and faculty and staff t e opportunity to reconnect. Program speakers included Head of School Brian McBride; the leader of the Society’s American Province, Sr. Mary Ann Buckley, SHCJ; alumnus Matt Taylor ’78; and former Head of School Sr. Mary Broderick, SHCJ. Through his speech, Matt recounted some of his fondest memories from Holy Child, naming key moments from his Middle School experience that taught him valuable leadership lessons. Sentiments like these continued to fill t e room for the rest of the evening as attendees shared stories, fl pped through old yearbooks, and took a walk down memory lane through a beautiful display of photos, uniforms, and artifacts of the school.

In your role as our school counselor, how do you partner with students, parents, and faculty?

A trained counselor with fourteen years of experience, specifically welve years spent in school settings, Becky Murray is passionate about working closely with children, and her colorful, bright office space reflects the vibrancy of the students she welcomes in each day. Becky is in her second year working as Holy Child’s full-time school counselor, serving children across all three divisions. She expresses that she felt at home right away at Holy Child and continues to be excited about the impactful work that she is doing within our community.

In my role as a school counselor, I strive to serve as a nonjudgmental resource, acting as a sounding board for parents and teachers and supporting our students. I listen to the challenges that parents, teachers, and their students are facing, and then I make recommendations for strategies that will support them as they navigate these situations. I work with students of all ages individually, and these relationships can be long term, focused on achieving specific goals, or short term, where we address a specific p oblem or situation. In classroom or small-group settings, including Middle School Advisory groups, I support students and faculty by facilitating conversations and teaching lessons about social-emotional topics that are developmentally relevant and meet the needs of our students. I plan intentional lessons and programs that occur throughout the year, yet I can be responsive to addressing situations that happen in real time within a grade or division.

How do the Holy Child Goals influen e your work?

My work feels most aligned with Goal 6: “Holy Child Schools promote the personal growth and development of all who participate in the life of the School.” In partnership with students, teachers, and parents, we strive to promote the idea of being the best version of ourselves, which is intertwined with lessons about personal growth and being kind to ourselves and others. The Middle School Advisory program is especially focused on Goal 6 and this

year, the students are learning about their character strengths, identifying character strengths in their peers, and determining how to utilize their strengths to be their best selves.

We have academically and socially intelligent students at Holy Child, and they know what acts of kindness look like and how to spot character strengths; however, it brings me the most joy to see them living what they’re saying, just as Cornelia Connelly urged us in her motto, “Actions, Not Words.”

What excites you most about the personal growth and kindness initiatives we are incorporating this year?

Performing acts of kindness, and the idea of filling someone s metaphorical bucket by being kind to them, is a simple concept with a widespread impact. We implemented the bucket-filling p ogram in Lower School this fall, and strengths spotting has been a major area of focus for our Middle School students.

While these are different programs, the message is the same: Being kind to others makes you feel good, and when you are kind to yourself, you are kinder to others. I am excited that we are already seeing a positive shift occur because it will continue to have a greater impact as time goes on. Read more about this year’s personal growth and kindness initiatives on pages 16-17.

On Friday, September 22, 2023, the Holy Child School at Rosemont community gathered together and celebrated three important events: our annual Mass of the Holy Spirit, our Student Council induction, and the installation of our eighth head of school, Brian McBride. Rev. Joseph Genito, OSA, led the Mass in the Fitzgerald Performing Arts and Athletic Center, and our new Student Council members contributed to the Mass by serving in a variety of roles. Our eighth-grade cantors and Middle School choir sang beautifully throughout the Mass and during the presentation of the gifts, a special song was performed: A group of current faculty and staff pl yed and sang “Coming Home,” which was written by Fr. Genito himself.

Brian reminded our community that all of the day’s celebrations, while unique in their own ways, commemorate “the enduring spirit and legacy of this special school and the indelible spirit...of our Foundress Cornelia Connelly.”

Following the Mass, our new Student Council members across Grades 2-8 were inducted and welcomed into their leadership roles for the school year. Both the Student Council members and our greater student body made pledges at the ceremony, all committing to “keep and uphold the dignity, honor, and reputation of Holy Child School at Rosemont.” Brian McBride, Associate Head of School Diane Hren, and Fr. Genito bestowed pins on the students, which they will wear proudly with their formal uniform throughout the rest of the school year.

The event concluded with the Head of School Installation, a special ceremony that allowed our community to formally welcome Brian McBride as our eighth head of school. Many special guests, including Sisters from the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, former heads of our school, heads from area schools, and the McBride family, joined us for this notable moment in our school’s history. Sister Eileen McDevitt, SHCJ, director of the Holy Child Network of Schools, addressed Brian and our community, emphasizing the unique qualities of Cornelia Connelly’s vision for education and the relevancy of the Holy Child Goals in our daily work. Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees Kane Brenan P’16’18’23’25 took to the podium, sharing a few remarks and leading the head of school pledge, which Brian recited as his commitment to the greater Holy Child community.

Brian concluded the program by directly addressing the crowd of students, faculty, staff, parents, and guests. He began with expressions of gratitude, sharing his thanks with mentors, his family, and colleagues who have supported his 33-year career in independent school education. He reflec ed on the significan e of his installation and the Student Council induction occurring alongside the Mass of the Holy Spirit: The gifts of the spirit, such as wisdom, understanding, right judgment, and fortitude, are all necessary qualities for successful leaders. Brian made additional pledges to our community, sharing that he will “work tirelessly to serve Holy Child to the very best of [his] ability…doing so with integrity and respect for the mission, vision, and history of the school and with reverence for the vision of Cornelia Connelly.”

Have You Filled a Bucket Today?

A Renewed Focus on

Kindness

Our Holy Child Goals guide our work as a community, and this school year, we have renewed our focus on a concept that relates to many of our Goals: kindness.

The Holy Child Goals of friendship, caring, community, and personal growth all connect back to kindness as we are encouraged to be kind, compassionate, and considerate of those around us, no matter the circumstances. Our Lower School students are exemplifying these attributes by being “bucket fillers ” An assembly in September taught our children about the idea of bucket filli g: Everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds good thoughts and feelings. Other people can fill ur buckets when they treat us with kindness, compassion, and empathy, and they can also dip into our buckets with mean actions and hurtful words. When we fill omeone else’s bucket, we fill ur own; when we dip from someone’s bucket, we dip from our own. Making this concept concrete and visible for our students, each Lower School class has a bucket that children deposit pom poms into every time they are recognized for an act of kindness; together, students across the division are working toward filli g a larger bucket that sits prominently on the desk of Mrs. Kit Tosti. This initiative has not only been effective for promoting kindness but has created a common goal for all Lower School students to rally around.

In Middle School, our students are approaching kindness in a more developmentally appropriate way by learning how to spot strengths — in themselves and in one another. The practice of strength spotting is rooted in positive psychology, which has shown that people who know and use their strengths are happier, have more self-esteem, and are more likely to reach their goals. Appreciating the value of those around us for their strengths also serves to foster a sense of community and connection. Our students have participated in strength-spotting activities throughout the fall, and they also welcomed a guest speaker at a divisional assembly who spoke about character and grit: Zach Miller, an Ultrarunner from Lancaster County, PA, visited Holy Child this fall to share his inspiring story of coming back from failure by recognizing and utilizing his strengths. We are proud of the ongoing work that our students are doing to promote and embody kindness and the way in which these initiatives are having a ripple effect through our community. As our Foundress Cornelia Connelly said, “Confide ce begets confide ce.”

Holy Child Values in Action:

A Practical Parenting Series On October 17, 2023, nearly 80 members of the Holy Child community gathered for the fi st in-person event, where we welcomed former educator, author, and speaker Andrea Davis (pictured at left). Throughout her talk, Andrea provided practical strategies for how to “Create a Tech Healthy Family,” focusing on the idea that with buy-in from your children and making commitments as a whole family, this is an “opportunity to impart your family values to your children and connect with them.” She shared reallife examples of implementing these practices with her own family, acknowledging that it can be challenging and uncomfortable at times, but creating boundaries around technology use supports the mental health and well-being of young, developing minds. We are grateful for Andrea’s time and expertise, and we look forward to hosting the next in-person event in early 2024!

This fall, we excitedly debuted Holy Child Values in Action: A Practical Parenting Series. Parents in search of resources to support the social-emotional well-being of their children prompted Parents’ Liaison Allison Emery P’30’32’35 and School Counselor Becky Murray to conduct a survey in the spring of 2023, asking about the types of information that would be most helpful to parents of young children and teens. Our current parents and faculty eagerly responded, spurring the formation of this speaker series.

Holy Child Values in Action incorporates in-person and virtual sessions that provide our parent community with opportunities to learn more about topics, tools, and resources that promote the personal growth and development of young children and teens.

The in-person events are free and open to the public, meaning our current parents may bring along friends and neighbors in their communities, while the virtual sessions are exclusively offered to the Holy Child community.

The virtual sessions in this series are being hosted by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) and the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and have been made available to our community by Holy Child School at Rosemont. Virtual sessions allow our community to access a greater network of speakers and experts. This fall, sessions addressed parent-child communication and raising self-driven children.

Throughout the winter and spring, our parents can look forward to hearing from experts on the developing brain and the impact of technology on learning, growing up in the digital age, and raising resilient children.

The Farrell Family:

Why We Chose Holy Child for Middle School The Farrell family began considering alternative school options on the Main Line when their daughter Bailey ’24 was looking ahead to her sixth-grade year. Parents Ali and Tom sought a nurturing school environment for their children that would allow them to thrive; one important factor was small class sizes, meaning Bailey and their son Tucker ’26 would receive more attention and support from their teachers. Born and raised in the area, Ali and Tom knew several Holy Child School at Rosemont alumni and current students who “stood out because they are polite, kind, and confident people ” and that encouraged them to consider Holy Child in their search process. Knowing that Middle School can be a challenging time for preteens to navigate, our school’s faith-based mission was influential in their decision to enroll Bailey and Tucker.

Ali shares, “We were drawn to the spiritual and religious aspects of Holy Child because we recognize the importance of faith in our children’s lives. Holy Child offers our children the opportunity to grow in confiden e, spread kindness, and develop their faith, which results in a wonderful Middle School experience.”

Upon joining the Holy Child community in 2021, Bailey and Tucker quickly became involved in cocurriculars from athletics to service-learning experiences to the performing arts. The Farrells see these experiences as complementary to the learning happening inside the classroom, contributing to each child’s personal growth journey. “By participating in athletics and the performing arts, our children not only develop as individuals but also understand what it means to be part of a team and how hard work contributes to group success,” Tom reflects. Whether it be on the field or o

Holy Child offers our children the opportunity to grow in confi ence, spread kindness, and develop their faith, which results in a wonderful Middle School experience.” the stage, the Farrells value the collaborative experiences offered at Holy Child, recognizing the importance of what these moments are teaching their children. Ali explains, “Learning to work with others while also understanding your role in the bigger picture is essential, especially in high school, college, and the workforce. As a fourth grader on the JV football team, Tucker looked up to the older students for guidance. Now the roles have flipped and as a sixth g ader, he’s one of the older students who wants to help the younger players.” Beyond sports games and performances, the Farrells have also enjoyed faith-based community experiences at the school, especially Masses and prayer services where our students take on leadership roles.

Remembering a fond memory, Tom shares, “It was incredibly special to see Tucker serving as a lector during a school Mass. There are many opportunities for Holy Child students to develop the individual confiden e that may not come naturally to all of them — and they

feel the support from their peers and teachers along the way.”

Looking ahead to Bailey’s graduation in May 2024, Ali and Tom feel strongly that “the whole school has our back, including veterans to the high-school application process like Jessica Shorten, Bailey’s Grade 8 homeroom teacher and advisor, and Brian McBride.”

In meeting with and touring potential high schools, Tom shares that schools “specifically want Holy Child graduates because they are academically prepared, thoughtful, and mature.” It is certainly a challenge for our eighth-grade students to balance the desire to enjoy and succeed in their final ear at Holy Child with looking ahead with excitement and hope to the next step in their education. Yet the Farrells are reassured by the actions of our faculty who have “helped [Bailey] develop the balance between those competing feelings and consistently give her the support and structure to do well in her final months at Holy Child.”

in Action PATRICE HAYDEN MEAGHER ’93 Founder and CEO of MilkMate Learn more about MilkMate at milkmate.com Patrice Hayden Meagher ’93 spent the fi st 20 years of her career working in commercial real estate throughout Philadelphia and New York City, representing landlords in Manhattan and assisting them with leasing out spaces. She gained a deep understanding of how both landlords and tenants think, progressively building herself a strong network of real estate stakeholders including brokers, architects, and furniture vendors.

During this part of her career, she had four children and breastfed them all, although her foray into life as a working mom with her fi st son in 2010 was challenging. At the time, there were no laws for providing a private pumping space for working moms; the only place was the bathroom, an unhygienic, embarrassing, and inconvenient place to pump breastmilk. While she felt confident negotiating a big-time lease in a room full of people, she did not feel comfortable enough to ask, “Can you find me a bet er place to pump?”

The laws changed for the better when Patrice had her other three children, and a specific spa e was allocated in the office for pumping; however, for any working mother, remembering to bring all the necessary pump parts is an added challenge. At that time, she felt like the loudest person in the room talking to her real estate clients about how they should build their wellness rooms with safety, comfort, and efficiency in mind — an this is how she came up with the idea for MilkMate. Patrice’s company offers a turnkey solution that is designed for the workplace, providing hospital-grade, multiuser breast pumps with one-time-use parts that are

recyclable and presterilized. As a businessto-business company, MilkMate consults with employers on new or existing pumping rooms, offering them custom-made storage units, a fridge for milk storage, comfortable chairs, and a pumping station. “Originally, we were focused on offering the pump and its parts to employers, which is the biggest hassle for working moms,” shares Patrice, “but after meeting with thousands of human resource and facilities directors, they asked for full-solution recommendations, which informs the services we’re offering now.”

Employers view MilkMate’s solutions as wellness amenities for working moms that support employee recruitment, retention, and return-to-work initiatives. Working moms avoid the challenges of bringing their multipart pump to the office and benefit f om having a dedicated, comfortable, and efficien space in which to pump at work. “I tell my team that my mission has always been to make the life of a working parent easier so that they can do it all,” Patrice says. “We strive to build a community of customers who truly care about their employees, especially family values and family-related benefits, and e want to create the best possible work environment for them.” This family-fi st approach connects back to her time at Holy Child. As she explains, “I was raised within the Holy Child community, which is so clearly service-driven and familyfocused, and it was impactful. Our actionoriented approach at MilkMate connects back to what I learned from Holy Child, particularly the motto, ‘Actions, Not Words.’”

MICHAEL LARKIN ’13 Founder and CEO of FoolProof Mixers Learn more about FoolProof Mixers at foolproofmixers.com Michael Larkin ’13’s entrepreneurial mindset shifted from ideas into action when he was in Middle School at Holy Child School at Rosemont. Combining his interest in technology and starting a business, Michael started his own online store, selling a few products using the method of drop-shipping.

In high school, his next idea was to start a food delivery service in Ocean City, NJ, allowing customers to use a phone app from the comfort of their beach blanket to order food; with 10 partner restaurants, Michael and his team offered a variety of options and conveniently delivered to families on the beach. “I like being able to make a difference in someone’s day and bring a smile to their face,“ shares Michael, “and I like to offer a unique service or product.”

Michael was a senior in college when the COVID-19 pandemic began, and he viewed his newfound free time as an opportunity.

With restaurants and bars closed, he noticed that everyone was making cocktails at home, purchasing low-quality drink mixers with unhealthy ingredients in them. Michael seized the opportunity with an entrepreneurial spirit, believing he could make a better product. He spoke to his friends about a business idea for the summertime and wrote up a business plan in his college dorm room for what would one day become FoolProof Mixers. In his kitchen, Michael began making small batches of fl vored simple syrups, inviting his friends to try them out in exchange for their feedback.

He explains, “Their positive responses inspired me to ask, How do I scale my business?” The farmer’s market in Margate, NJ, proved to be a great venue where he could sell his mixers weekly and built a client base.

A lack of formal experience in food and beverage manufacturing did not stop his desire to grow the business; instead, he reached out to the Food Innovation Center at Rutgers (FIC), a food business incubator that is part of Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station. The FIC saw Michael and his mixers as a great candidate for their services because of his concept, growing client base, and forward momentum; together, they took his at-home recipes and created a shelf-stable product in the course of a year, allowing him to sell commercial products in stores. With the support of interns, Michael continues to market his product. Because FoolProof Mixers sold out of their fi st small batch, they are preparing to do their next

manufacturing run. Connecting this back to his experience at Holy Child, Michael explains, “Holy Child taught me important values, particularly how to be a good person.

The great people in the community, especially role models like Dan Algeo, sincerely cared about each other, making you feel supported.

To this day, I value those kinds of relationships and surround myself with good, caring people.”

CAROLINE KEATING GILROY ’05 P’34 Co-founder and Co-CEO of Couper Learn more about Couper at shopcouper.com Caroline Keating Gilroy ’05 P’34 graduated from Duke University and knew with confiden e that she wanted to live in New York City and be part of the hustle and bustle, but she was unsure what direction she wanted to take her career after studying a trifecta of business, entrepreneurship, and environmental science in college.

Caroline started as a buyer at Tory Burch and enjoyed the work, but she soon recognized the gap between fashion and technology: She found many of the processes were

online storefronts. A few years later, Caroline was recruited to work at Salesforce, where she and her team supported small businesses by building their apps and e-commerce sites. After having her daughter Grace ’34 and son Rory, she shares, “I had the realization that I wanted to do this for myself because I had a diverse background in fashion and technology — and I missed the retail side of things.”

Caroline approached longtime friend Agee Leinberry with the idea of Couper: Caroline would run the operations and finan es, and Agee, with a career in visual merchandising, would run creative. Through their partnership, and with launch support from Caroline’s sister and fellow Holy Child alumna Hannah Keating ’12, Couper was born as an online luxury retailer featuring thoughtfully designed exclusive collaborations from emerging global designers. Caroline reflects, Holy Child provided me with the confiden e to be creative. Our teachers would challenge us to think outside the box and think differently from the person sitting next to you. I was bad at coloring inside of the lines, and Judy Cassidy told me in second grade to make something beautiful by not coloring in between the lines; that lesson has stayed with me throughout my life. Even when we create design sketches now, I do what feels right to me, and I’m not afraid to express my creativity by coloring outside the lines.”

Debbie Pearce McCabe was recently featured in “Main Line Today’s” “Power Women” issue for her work as senior vice president at BHHS Fox & Roach Realtors.

She has also served as treasurer, vice chair, and board chair for the Main Line Chamber of Commerce. Debbie is on the Board of Directors of Covenant House, a nonprofi that serves homeless youth.

Tom Gallagher, after serving six years on the Penn Fund board and twelve years as a Lawrenceville School alumni leader, has refocused his efforts locally. Twice a week, Tom tutors kids at the Police Athletic League after-school program. He also serves on the boards of two major charities: Children’s Home Society, a 120-year-old adoption, foster care, and child development organization, and The Hanley Foundation, which provides addiction and substance abuse education, prevention, and treatment. This leaves Tom a little bit of time to enjoy his two grandsons, Peyton Henry and Thomas Barclay Gallagher, who live up the street with their dad and mom, Graham and Brent Gallagher.

Tom also directs the estate of his late brother, Richard Gallagher ’65, whose lifelong interest in food insecurity and children’s issues lives on in his generosity.

Lisa McBride Woodcock recently became a paralegal for the Delaware County Office of Support Enforcement. She is also a certifie Instructor for PEERS®, the Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills, which provides evidence-based social skills treatment to preschoolers, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit/ yperactivity disorder, anxiety, depression, and other social-emotional challenges.

Krissy Duffy La ge recently started a new business called Krissy’s Errand Services, providing assistance with organization, meal prepping, grocery shopping, post office runs, and more! She lives in Newtown Square, PA, with her family.

Ian Westerfer married the love of his life, Alyssa Montgomery, on Saturday, September 30, 2023, a perfect fall day, in their southside Chicago neighborhood. Family and friends from all over were in attendance, and they say that “it was like God gave us a full-day preview of what Heaven is like!” On October 8, Ian ran the Chicago Marathon (his first! with Team WorldVision, raising money to bring clean water to families in sub-Saharan Africa. Ian shares, “God has been shining his goodness throughout all of it, and I’m so blessed.”

Emma Woodcock made the dean’s list at St. John’s University (SJU) in New York. This past May, she competed for St. John’s in the Big East Championship for track and fiel where she medaled in discus and her team came in second place in the Big East. Over the summer, she worked for the Philadelphia Phillies entertainment staff. Currently, she is working for the New York Jets on game days and is interning in community relations for the New York Islanders. At SJU, Emma is on the Executive Board for the Sports Management Association, serving as the director of external relations, and she was appointed by the dean to be one of two ambassadors for the Sports Management Program. Emma was invited to join the National Society of Leadership Success, which is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. In addition to these roles, one of Emma’s favorite jobs is spending time with a 19-year-old girl with cerebral palsy twice a week. She enjoys bringing her out to dinner with her friends from SJU and taking her to her dorm so she gets to experience a little of what college life is like.

In Loving Memory of Therese “Tray” Ashworth (1928-2023) This issue of “Cachet” is dedicated to Tray Ashworth, who faithfully served the Holy Child School at Rosemont community for 21 years (1982 to 2003) as our secretary. Tray made a lasting impact on our community by radiating kindness and knowing every child and parent by name, embodying our Holy Child Goals of caring and friendship.
