WHERE IT ALL STARTED

As a former Jockey & National Hunt Trainer Jess has an impressive track record to her name. Molland Ridge Stud is now at the forefront of her establishment & has been over the past 8 years, with Jess also being a Thoroughbred Breeders Association trustee.

Jess and the team, work with a diverse age group of horses from neonatal foals to retired racehorses.

"I thoroughly love bringing the lovely animals on to our world, producing them and seeing what they can do in their careers. It's also lovely to find them a new career once they have finished racing, and I thrive off the challenge to rehabilitate injured or sick horses & foals. We are a tight happy team with happy horses which creates a happy relaxed environment.

OUR FACILITIES

Molland Ridge Stud has extensive facilities these include the main barn with 16 15x16ft stables all with rubber floors & Automatic drinkers. The New barn has 7 large stables with one stable that can turn into a split stable suitable for weanlings or a mare & foal needing separation. Every stable at the Stud has camera surveillance as well as Jess living on site pretty much in the stable yard to ensure horses can be treated regularly with no issues.

We have a Sigloo alarm system that we put on each mare that comes to foal down to make sure we have no surprises or problems foaling. The stocks with veterinary & scanning shelves are a vital piece of equipment to keep mares & our vets safe when doing routine scanning or any specific treatment.

The hot & cold wash bay is used daily to wash off horses after exercise, with the solarium being vital for those needing help to prevent any stiffness with reducing the lactic acid & increasing their circulation or a bit of therapeutic care helping

their coats. We have three specialized stables with infra red solariums which are vital to help dry foals off after foaling, for taking the shock and reducing pain off the broodmares as well as being super for sick and injured horses & foals. The Horse Weigh is a vital piece of equipment used every week to weigh the horses & foals to ensure they are growing, recovering and in top health.

The yard is equipped with a 5 horse walker, grazing banks (perfect for horses on box rest). There are three state of the art all-weather turnout paddocks which ensure all-year turnout for the horses. With 53 acres of grazing that is well maintained and rotated ensures the horses have the best grass possible.

We have a 60x22 all-weather arena and miles of flat & hill hacking. We use Magnetic, massage & Ice-vibe therapy to aid recovery. As well as a DEFRA & EU approved 3.5tonne horse lorry to ensure each horse is safely travelled.

HOME TO THE LEGEND!

Monkerty Tunkerty (Monkey)

I brought Monkey in 2010, he had run a few times but not with much form. I gave him 6months off to fill his frame, and he became unbeaten in point to points winning 4 races on the trot followed by a very competitive Hunter Chase at Warwick where he annihilated the opposition by 12 lengths becoming the favourite for the Cheltenham Festival Foxhunters chase. Sadly, I suffered a severe head injury in a point-to-pointful which put an end to my riding career.

I then worked hard to get my full national licence where I professionally trained monkey to go on and when the Somerset National a grade 2 at Doncaster where he beat that years grand National winner and he also ran at the Cheltenham festival Monkey retire year-old He had one nine races and been placed in 12 of his 33 runs Scentsy retired from racing. He became a fantastic RoR horse where he won several county shows competed nationally show jumping and in dressage as well as winning RoR horse of the year in 2018 and then retiring from competitions at horse of the year show in 2021. He now lives the life of a king being ridden daily and spoilt rotten doing the odd

SUCCESS STORIES

Top lot

We love consigning. I'm prepping horses for sales ensuring they have a good start in education before they go on to progress their careers. Not only that, but it is lovely to see the foals and store horses progress from scruffy looking animals to stunning animals for the ring. We were very fortunate to consign top lot for Yeo Barton bloodstock at the National Hunt foals sales last January.

SUCCESS STORIES

Sammy the Shire

When three tragedies turned into a happy ending. Unfortunately, both Mouse & Tracey's dams passed away due to foaling complications. We started to hand raise the foals & when Sammy the Shire lost her foal during birth. We were kindly offered Sammy who took to feeding two orphan foals like they were her own. They are continuing to thrive off Sammy & are very lucky to have the best upbringing.

SUCCESS STORIES

Duc Des Genievers (Duke)

Duke was a fantastic race horse having won the Arkle and over quarter of a million in prize money. He was one of the best two mile chases around. Sadly he suffered a severe leg injury after winning the top race in France. The career ending injury meant he came here to recover and I worked hard over the year and a half to ensure he had the best recovery. He did a specific rehab program and has since started doing some dressage very successfully having one the Southwest RoR dressage championships and recently winning an RoR National championship at Aintree. He is a stunning horse who has done exceptionally well in a short space of time and will continue to enjoy some fun days out for the future.
