Welcome to Watchet Lane – Langley FC After two clean sheets, we followed up with two narrow away losses. In the process, failing to overtake today’s opponents in the table. We are disappointingly back in thirteenth place. But we go again, there was no lack of effort or Spectator Support (thank you) on Tuesday against Staines & Lammas at Spelthorne Sports. We probably won’t have the same lack of success after creating so many almost half-chances so near to an opponents’ goal as we did in the first half on Tuesday, it just was not our night, against a performance from a dogged and purposeful side which belied their lower position struggles thus far. Another concern seems to be the bench, which has not been full for two consecutive games. In the last month we have lost Harry Loakes, Alistair Grass, Freddie Peploe, and Jeffrey Fordjour for various reasons. It goes to show that it is so difficult for Keith and Jez to keep the starting XI and bench strong – and fresh if possible - for every eventuality including the occasional injury. We have lost the services of Tyler Sims, Callum Gray, Theo Ransby, Alex Colverd, Liam Butters, and Oskar Esplund-Evans, to name just six at some time this campaign. The First XI now have two weeks before the next game; the scheduled visit to Westside at Colliers Wood United next Saturday joining three other fixtures to be arranged or re-arranged. Currently we have three midweek fixtures in the New Year with Saturday fixtures known (but subject to possible change) up and including April 4th. We do not know when the deadline for fixtures at our level of the NLS actually is. It may well be the Saturdays 18th or 25th April, but it seems to be earlier every year! The draw for the last eight of The Esoteric Recordings Division One Cup which will include us is due to take place at Ashford Town FC this afternoon. No live TV coverage for some reason, but it will be posted on our Website as soon as we are informed. As usual, please enjoy the game…

John Anderson

LANGLEY FC HISTORY Langley Football Club was founded in 2010 by two local brothers from the Langley estate, Peter and Leon Phillips, who both had professional experience within the football industry. Recognising the need for a football club in their hometown, the Phillips brothers established Langley FC as a community-centred club, enabling talented local players to participate in competitive Saturday football. Their vision was to create a club that would not only compete on the field but also embody a strong sense of community and pride in the Langley area. Since its formation, Langley FC has grown impressively, building on each year’s successes to become one of the most respected football clubs in the region. Over the past 12 years, the club has achieved many accomplishments and was awarded the prestigious FA Chartered Standard. This accolade recognises the club’s high-quality football provision, commitment to best practices, and development of players at all levels. Langley FC’s commitment to professionalism and community spirit has set it apart as a role model for other amateur clubs, creating a nurturing environment for players of all ages and abilities. The club’s ascent has been nothing short of remarkable. Langley FC holds a record in local football for its rapid progression from the lowest tier of amateur park football (East Berks Division 4) to playing Step 6 Football in the Combined Counties League via the Hellenic League, an achievement that few clubs can match. This leap is a testament to the club’s ambition, drive, and determination to excel. Along the way, Langley FC has won every domestic honour at the local level, solidifying its reputation as a competitive force. This journey reflects the tireless efforts of players, coaches, and volunteers who have worked to make Langley FC a success both on and off the field. Currently, Langley FC’s First Team is managed by Michael Woodham, who brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role. Supporting him is Bradlee Greenwood, who oversees the Reserves and helps foster the next generation of talent. Langley FC has a vibrant youth program managed by Adam Rathmill and Lee Payne, with Demaro Woodruffe managing the Under-18s. This structured pathway for young players reflects the club’s deep commitment to youth development, ensuring that young talent is nurtured and allowed to flourish. Season after season, the youth teams continue to grow and succeed, contributing to the club's exciting prospects. In recent years, the club has grown to a point where it now requires its own dedicated facilities to meet its expanding needs. Langley FC has secured planning permission for a new home in Langley, a project that will further strengthen its community ties and provide a lasting legacy. In the meantime, Langley FC has announced a ground-share arrangement with Slough Town FC’s Arbour Park, having previously spent two seasons at Uxbridge FC’s Honeycroft. The club eagerly anticipates the move to its own grounds, which will serve as a central hub for both its teams and supporters, cementing its place as a pillar of the local community.
