A highlight of the year has been our initiative aimed at creating sustainable livelihoods for communities through agriculture in Mpumalanga. This project is designed to provide community members with the resources, skills and support needed to succeed as smallscale farmers in the agricultural sector. These measures collectively empowered 295 organisations and 173 042 beneficiaries in our community.

The Hollywood Foundation’s My Education pillar is dedicated to nurturing, supporting, and empowering individuals through education from their foundation phase to their higher learning through to their early career. Rooted in the belief that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential, our work goes beyond the classroom. It focuses on providing the necessary support, encouragement, and opportunities to help individuals build brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
We recognise that a quality education is key to shaping a child’s future. That’s why we invest in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and strive to equip young learners with the essential building blocks for success. These efforts continue as they grow through our provision of learning materials, school supplies, infrastructure improvements, and uniforms, creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive academically.
In a world where financial constraints often stand in the way of young people studying further, our bursary programme stands in the gap and allows hard-working students the opportunity to achieve their academic aspirations. To us, it’s about carving out the right path to success for deserving youths. By investing holistically in early education, bursaries, mentorship, and career development, we empower young people to unlock their full potential.
As we continue to nurture the next generation of thought leaders, our goal remains that of creating meaningful opportunities that drive longterm change. We are not just funding education –we are building futures, strengthening communities, and shaping a brighter tomorrow for South Africa,
We recognise that transitioning from education to the workforce can be challenging, which is why we provide workplace readiness support, graduate programmes, and career development initiatives. Through partnerships with industry leaders and innovative training opportunities, we equip young people with the confidence, skills, and real-world experience they need to excel in their future careers.
At the Hollywood Foundation, we’re dedicated to helping young people grow, achieve, and succeed.
Our primary goal is to open up pathways to employment by offering bursary recipients access to our graduate programme and creating meaningful opportunities for them within our workforce.
By nurturing potential from childhood through to the beginning stages of careers, we play a crucial role in moulding the next generation of skilled professionals. We are making a lasting impact on communities across South Africa by ensuring that every student has the chance to build a future as bright as their dreams.

Our ECD Programme focuses on creating safe and stimulating environments where young children can thrive. It emphasises the importance of early learning in developing cognitive, social, and motor skills.
Through Magic Spaces, we provide ECD centres with educational toys, learning materials, and jungle gyms to promote motor skill development through play.
Our support also includes the upgrading of facilities such as as classrooms, kitchens, playgrounds, and bathrooms to ensure safety. Additionally, the programme supports ECD teachers with
training in modern teaching techniques so they can provide high-quality education that will help children build a strong foundation for future success.
One of the highlights of the year for the Foundation was offering support to the Refilwe Community Care Centre in Limpopo through our Mokopane Branch. The centre was founded upon the vision of ensuring children have access to comprehensive support on their educational journey. With 28 beneficiaries already under its care, the centre is working to expand its reach to allow even more children to receive the educational assistance they deserve.
Commenting on their collaboration with the Foundation, the centre’s manager Christena Mohela couldn’t conceal her gratitude:
Our children will now have enough educational toys, chairs, and tables to use.
Staying in Limpopo, the Foundation Team visited Nhluvukiso Early Learning Centre in another heart-warming outing.
Nhluvukiso is built on an ethos of caring for children who are homeless. As they deal with vulnerable youths who sometimes find themselves in dangerous situations, they approached the Foundation to provide the necessary equipment to assist with the development of the youths.
Another highlight for the Foundation was our contribution towards the refurbishment of the classrooms at the Verulam ECD Centre. The centre had been unable to update their ageing infrastructure for some time and needed help to make the shelter safer and better suited to housing children.
Established in 2004 as a daycare for children between the ages of two to five years old, the centre is located in an area with high poverty and crime rates. They provide healthy meals and a safe environment that promotes holistic development for children.

By supporting parents at the start of the new school year and empowering learners from diverse communities across South Africa, we aim to create inclusive, supportive, and empowering learning environments.
This year’s campaign held a special importance as it featured expanded partnerships with Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassadors and influential personalities such as Shudufhadzo Musida and Bonginkosi “Zola 7” Dlamini.
We also strengthened our collaborations with various non-profit organisations, sports clubs, and several mainstream and community radio stations. These relationships helped the Back-to-School campaign reach even more learners in need.
The Foundation was honoured to partner with the Shudufhadzo Musida Foundation, established by the 2020 Miss South Africa and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Global Champion for Women and Girls, Shudufhadzo Musida.
We were able to deliver essential Backto-School supplies to 340 students from Ha-Vhangani in Makhado, Limpopo, an area close to the global personality’s heart.
The initiative supports children whose families mostly depend on government social grants, with the handover itself an educational and inspirational event.
Those chosen to speak on the day delivered moving speeches on the urgent need to develop innovative solutions to the many key social issues affecting the community.
For years, the Hollywood Foundation and the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) have partnered in the Backto-School campaign. It’s one of the Foundation’s most valued relationships, and this year we brought smiles to 64 learners from eight primary schools across Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, in collaboration with the Ntenga Foundation and SANTACO Cares.
Mr. Siyanda Ntenga, Chairman of the Ntenga Foundation, noted:
It’s truly an honour to be part of this [Back-to-School] initiative. We believe that education is the foundation of a brighter tomorrow, and by giving back to these children today, we’re helping build a better future for our communities.
On behalf of SANTACO, Mr. Yusuf Khaliva, Chairman of Durban Central, expressed his pride in being part of the event:
We’re proud to support our future leaders and contribute to ensuring these learners start their school year with everything they need to succeed.
For this year’s Back-to-School campaign, Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassador Makazole Mapimpi chose to give back to two schools in his hometown, Nxaruni and Mdantsane.
For him, giving back to the community he came from always brings joy to his heart. During both Initiatives, he shared wise words and inspired the learners to continue staying in school.
In proud partnership with Heart FM, the Foundation brought smiles, joy, and a sense of hope to the students of Matroosbergweg Primary School in the Western Cape.
The excitement was palpable as the Team arrived at the school on the day. Beloved Heart FM presenter Jeremy Harris joined the group for the official handover and the moment was made even more special by the cheers and laughter of the eager learners.
This special day marked a beautiful chapter in our Back-to-School Campaign and our unwavering commitment to giving back shone brightly.
Not even the strong Cape Town winds could subdue the joy that filled the air as the kids were gifted with muchneeded uniforms and shoes: essential accessories empowering them to walk boldly into the new school year.
Our Back-to-School partnership with UKhozi FM legends Nonhlanhla “Mroza” Buthelezi of the Thumumlilo Foundation and Pastor Sipho “DJ Sgqemeza” Mbatha grew as we reached even more learners this year.
Mroza took the campaign to three schools in her hometown of Dokodweni, while DJ Sgqemeza brought hope to two schools in Pongola.

Through its My Sports Pillar, the Hollywood Foundation remains committed to nurturing the growth and development of grassroots sports across the country and all sporting codes. These include cricket, rugby, netball, soccer, athletics, and horse racing.
Through a variety of impactful programmes, we empower individuals and uplift communities by harnessing the transformative power of sport. Our efforts are rooted in inclusivity: supporting talent and investing in infrastructure regardless of gender, age, ability, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.
At the heart of the Hollywood Foundation’s support for grassroots sports lies a deep belief in sport as a catalyst for change.
We see it as a powerful bridge to opportunity—where passion meets purpose, and where every individual, regardless of their background, has access to the resources, mentorship, and platform required to realise their full potential.
By investing in grassroots sports, we’re not just developing athletes—we’re
building confident leaders, strengthening communities, and inspiring future generations. Through dynamic programmes, training clinics, mentorship initiatives, and community tournaments, we empower individuals and uplift communities.
We use sport not only as a tool for physical development, but also as a powerful driver of social change. Our approach is inclusive and holistic, ensuring that support reaches all, regardless of gender, age, ability, ethnicity, or socio-economic status.
At the Hollywood Foundation, we believe that sport is more than just a game - it is a platform for empowerment, unity, and transformation. Grassroots sports serve as the entry point for many aspiring athletes, especially in under-resourced communities where opportunities are limited.
By investing in these early stages, we aim to level the playing field and ensure that no potential goes unnoticed or unsupported.
Our commitment is long-term. We walk alongside athletes from their humble beginnings to the pinnacle of their sporting journeys. Whether it’s providing access to equipment, funding development facilities, supporting local clubs, or sponsoring youth tournaments, we’re driven by the belief that every champion starts somewhere.
Supporting grassroots sports allows us to unearth and nurture raw talent that may otherwise be overlooked; promote healthy lifestyles and positive youth development; instill life skills such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience, and create safe and constructive spaces where communities can come together.
And that “somewhere” should be full of hope, support, and possibility.
Through the advancement of grassroots sports, the Hollywood Foundation reaffirms its purpose: to leave a lasting legacy of empowerment, equity, and excellence in every community we touch.
Cricket has long united people from diverse backgrounds, offering young players the chance to develop skills, discipline, and a sense of belonging.
We’re committed to making cricket accessible, especially in communities with limited opportunities.
By investing in grassroots development, we create pathways for aspiring players to grow on and off the field.
At the Hollywood Foundation, we support clubs and schools with coaching, equipment, and training facilities.
Our programmes build technical skills while fostering teamwork, perseverance, and leadership values that extend beyond the game.
By bridging the gap between development and elite-level cricket, we help more players pursue their dreams.
The impact of our initiatives goes further than sport.
By nurturing talent and promoting inclusion, we aim to create lasting change and ensure that young cricketers from all backgrounds can succeed and inspire the next generation.
One of our key initiatives includes the uMlazi Cricket Hub Cricket Nets Project, where we built five cricket nets across five primary schools in uMlazi township, KwaZulu-Natal.
This initiative has significantly improved training conditions, allowing young cricketers to develop their skills in a competitive environment.
By providing high-quality facilities, we help level the playing field between development players and those from urban schools, enabling them to compete with confidence at district and provincial trials. In addition to infrastructure support, we have equipped 24 boys and girls in the U11 and U13 national weeks with full Kookaburra kits, ensuring they enter competitions well-prepared and confident.
Their achievements speak for themselves, with the U11 boys’ team finishing first and the U13 girls’ team securing third place during their respective tournaments.
This project has reignited hope among local coaches, who now have the resources to provide proper training. Players can refine their skills in matchlike conditions, and the longevity of these facilities ensures that future generations will continue to benefit.
As interest in the sport grows, schools have seen an increase in student participation, highlighting the lasting influence of accessible cricket development programs.
The Hollywood Foundation continues its impactful journey of empowering communities, this time turning its focus to Umlazi, where it provides cricket equipment to support and nurture young talent.
The handover of the equipment took place at an exciting event at the Umlazi Cricket Club that was hosted by Umlazi Comtech High School.
This initiative underscores the Foundation’s dedication to grassroots sports development, ensuring that aspiring cricketers have the resources they need to compete on an equal footing.
Four development clubs will benefit from the initiative, receiving cricket kits, warm-up gear, and essential training and playing equipment.
Having the appropriate gear is often essential for full participation in sporting competitions. Sports kits not only offer practical benefits such as comfort and safety but also foster a sense of belonging and team spirit.
Ensuring that every child has access to the necessary equipment is crucial for promoting equal opportunities and encouraging participation in school or community sports events.
Foundation provided full Kookaburra kits to 24 boys and girls competing in the U11 and U13 national weeks, helping them enter the competitions well-prepared and confident. Their results speak volumes: the U11 boys’ team finished first, while the U13 girls’ team secured third place in their respective tournaments.

By encouraging local businesses to invest in grassroots netball, we strengthen its long-term impact.

The athletes expressed deep gratitude, noting that the shoes would boost their confidence and enhance their ability to train effectively and participate in future races.
Addressing the challenge of inadequate gear, this initiative is a step towards creating equal opportunities in the world of athletics.
The club donated a total of 134 pairs of running shoes to support local athletes in need.
Of these, 107 pairs were handed over to various running clubs within the KwaZuluNatal region, while an additional 27 pairs were donated to the Thembisa Running Club in Gauteng.
This impactful initiative was sparked after the Hollywood Athletics Club Team noticed that many athletes, particularly during events such as the Hollywoodbets Durban 10km race and many other races within Durban, were
competing in worn-out shoes or, in some cases, with no shoes at all. This lack of proper footwear not only hindered their performance but also posed risks to their health and safety.

Thirteen students were enrolled in the recent course, with 11 successfully graduating. The Hollywood Foundation has been the primary investor, funding top-class facilities to support this specialist training.
In addition, Hollywoodbets sponsored a 5-race Cape Racing Work Riders Series, where the top five finishers earned their share of R25 000 in prize money.
The Hollywood Foundation has been the primary source of the investment in providing top quality facilities to improve the specialist skills. Hollywoodbets Brand & Communications Manager Devin Heffer responded by saying that it was an honour and privilege for them to have played a role in the resurgence and ongoing success of the Cape Racing Grooms School.
The Umtelebhelo Heritage Cup is a premier traditional horse racing event that celebrates South Africa’s rich cultural heritage while fostering unity among communities. Established by the Willowfountain Rural Horse-Riding Club (WRHRC), the event attracts thousands of spectators, punters, and
stakeholders, contributing significantly to the local economy. Hollywoodbets and the Hollywood Foundation played a key role in supporting the event through sponsorships, logistical assistance, and community engagement, reinforcing their commitment to grassroots sports and cultural preservation.
“The sponsorship by Hollywoodbets and the Hollywood Foundation helped cover key event expenses, including stakes payouts to the top five finishers in each race, marshals, participant accommodation, catering, and other logistical needs.
These funds directly supported rural horse owners and participants from previously disadvantaged communities,” said Mbuyiselwa Mkhize of Willowfountain Rural Horse Riding Club.
The Hollywoodbets Grooms Initiative entered its sixth year in 2025, continuing to reward the grooms of winning horses in both KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. In partnership with Gold Circle and Cape Racing, the initiative pays R2 000 per win during Champions Season and R1 000 during the off-season.
Since its launch in October 2019, the initiative has injected millions into the hands of the sport’s unsung heroes — the grooms and stable staff working tirelessly behind the scenes. KZN Racing recently marked a major milestone, with R5 million awarded to grooms to date, while Cape Racing celebrated its 1 000th winning groom.
Hollywoodbets Brand and Communications Manager Devin Heffer said the initiative’s purpose has always been to acknowledge and reward grooms. “They play a vital role in the racing chain, and it’s been incredible to witness the positive impact this initiative has had on the industry. We look forward to reaching even greater milestones as we continue our efforts to uplift every sector of the sport,” he added
Now in its fourth year, the Hollywoodbets Life After Racing programme continues to thrive under the expert care of Nicole Wille at the Ashburton Racing Centre. Initially launched to rehome Hollywood Racing’s retired racehorses into second careers — including showjumping, dressage, and eventing — the initiative has since evolved into a full-scale rehabilitation and rehoming facility.
With a dedicated team of 11 staff, the programme not only finds “forever homes” for horses post-racing (53 to date), but also provides essential treatment and recovery opportunities for those still in training.
Remarkably, 28 horses have returned from rehab at Ashburton to win races again.
“This is about giving every horse the best possible life after racing, ” says Wille.
“They deserve it.”
Hollywoodbets’ commitment aligns with the National Horseracing Authority’s
welfare legislation and stands as a shining example of industry responsibility — ensuring that the heroes of the track are respected, rehabilitated, and rewarded for their service beyond the finish line.
The PinkDrive Race Day is an annual event dedicated to supporting breast cancer awareness and early detection. Hosted in partnership with Hollywoodbets, the day raises funds for PinkDrive, a non-profit organisation that provides free cancer screenings and education to underprivileged communities in South Africa.
With limited access to healthcare in many areas, early detection is often missed, resulting in late-stage diagnoses and reduced chances of recovery.
This initiative addresses that gap by funding mobile screening units and medical outreach programmes. Beyond raising funds, PinkDrive Race Day also promotes health advocacy within
the horse racing and broader sports community. The event is a powerful reminder of the impact sport can have in driving meaningful change, especially in the fight against one of the most prevalent cancers affecting South African women.
The Coastal Horse Care Unit (CHCU), located in Cato Ridge, KwaZulu-Natal, is a non-profit organisation focused on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abused or neglected horses and donkeys.
Through rural outreach initiatives, CHCU educates communities—particularly children—on responsible equine care. Their Emahhashini Training Centre also offers farriery and saddlery training, equipping individuals with skills that benefit both animals and livelihoods.
CHCU’s broader mission is to create sustainable change through education
and engagement, with a lasting impact across South Africa. Hollywoodbets and the Hollywood Foundation are proud supporters of CHCU, having invested in several facility upgrades. These include a borehole, paddock maintenance, chicken hock improvements, and renovations to staff accommodation—both existing and additional units to grow the team.
Signage, staff uniforms, and vehicle branding have been provided, along with IT support such as computers and better internet access, helping CHCU continue their essential work effectively and efficiently.
SARDA (South African Riding for the Disabled Association), based at the South African Jockey Academy in Summerveld, is the official charity of the Hollywoodbets Durban July.
This non-profit provides free therapeutic horse-riding lessons to mentally and physically challenged children up to the age of 16.
The sessions, led by trained volunteer instructors, take place five mornings
a week and offer remarkable physical and emotional benefits. Riding helps children relax, build muscle, and improve motor skills in a safe and supportive setting.
Hollywoodbets proudly contributed R50 000 in equipment and funding to support SARDA’s mission. We are honoured to be part of this lifechanging initiative and look forward to the continued impact SARDA has on the lives of these incredible children.
The South African Jockey Academy (SAJA) has expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support received from Hollywoodbets and the Hollywood Foundation over the years. This valued partnership has played a vital role in shaping the future of aspiring jockeys and uplifting the institution as a whole.
A generous bursary contribution of R957,948 in 2024 has significantly supported the apprentices’ educational and training needs, easing financial pressures and enabling them to focus on their careers.
The Academy has also seen major facility upgrades thanks to Hollywoodbets,
including renovations to dormitories, the main entrance, buildings, dining room, multipurpose court, and squash court. These improvements have created a more dynamic and supportive environment for learning and development.
Hollywoodbets’ involvement in the annual SAJA Awards Ceremony brought additional prestige and warmth to the event, making it a truly memorable occasion for apprentices and guests alike.
The Hollywood Foundation looks forward to building on this impactful and valued partnership with the SA Jockey Academy.
Strong communities thrive on collaboration, empowerment, and access to essential resources.
At the heart of the Hollywood Foundation’s My Community Pillar lies a commitment to achieving these objectives for ordinary South African’s by addressing of myriad issues they face daily.
Our projects focus on poverty alleviation, improved food security, infrastructure development as well as upliftment programmes that provide tangible support to individuals and families.
We work hand-in-hand with grassroots organisations and community-led initiatives that address critical issues such as homelessness, responsible gambling, elderly care, and disability support.
By partnering with trusted local leaders and groups, we ensure that every intervention is practical, sustainable, and tailored to the unique needs of each community.
From improving access to clean water and healthcare to strengthening vital community services, we strive to be a source of hope and stability where it’s needed most in order to drive meaningful social change.
And by creating long-term, positive impact, we’re empowering communities to build better futures.

Clean water and functional sanitation are not just basic needs—they are the foundation of restoring human dignity and ensuring people’s overall health. And yet, for many communities across the country, access to these essential services remains a daily struggle.
The Hollywood Foundation is committed to changing this reality by providing access to water, , improved sanitation facilities, and hygiene education through our Water and Sanitation Programme
We work together with schools, communities and organisations to install boreholes, and upgraded ablution facilities, creating safer and healthier environments for all.
By implementing sustainable, long-term solutions, we not only reduce the risk of waterborne diseases but also restore dignity and enhance the quality of life for vulnerable communities. Incorporating work around infrastructure
development, education as well as active community engagement, our programme is dedicated to transforming lives across South Africa by addressing these urgent challenges.
Every project we undertake brings us closer towards expanding access to these essential services—building healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities, one step at a time.
TOTAL NUMBER OF COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS 12 2025
TOTAL NUMBER OF SCHOOLS 2025 9 2025
The Hollywood Foundation is dedicated to improving education and sanitation in South Africa. Recently, the Foundation unveiled new ablution blocks at Lumikisa Primary School in Bushbuck Ridge, Mpumalanga, to support a better learning environment.
Additionally, in collaboration with Gagasi FM, the Foundation has worked on the ‘Geleza Ne Gagasi’ project in KwaZuluNatal, providing significant upgrades
to schools like Mcushwa High School in Margate. These upgrades included replacing pit toilets with flushable facilities, installing boreholes for water access, and adding Jojo tanks for a reliable water supply.
These initiatives aim to improve sanitation and overall school infrastructure, promoting healthier, safer, and more effective learning spaces for students and staff.
The Hollywood Foundation proudly celebrated the successful refurbishment of the ablution facilities at Mcushwa High School in Margate - a significant milestone achieved in collaboration with Gagasi FM through the Geleza Ne Gagasi Adopt A School Corporate Social Investment (CSI) campaign.
Mcushwa High School had been grappling with major infrastructure challenges, including inadequate sanitation facilities and a lack of running water. This posed serious obstacles to effective teaching and learning. Remarkably, the school achieved an impressive 92.3% matric pass rate in 2023 despite these difficulties.
The school’s outdated pit toilets were replaced with modern, flushable facilities - dramatically improving hygiene standards and creating a safer, more dignified space for learners and educators alike.
In addition, the Foundation constructed a new borehole to provide a consistent supply of clean water for the school. All the new toilets are connected to JoJo tanks, ensuring water availability even during shortages.
Partnering with Gagasi FM on the Geleza Ne Gagasi campaign allowed us to make a tangible difference in the lives of learners at Mcushwa High School. Our mission is to foster healthier learning conditions that empower students to reach their full potential.
Mpho Dintwa, CSI Manager at the Hollywood Foundation, emphasised the impact of the initiative
The Hollywood Foundation improved the learning environment at Lumikisa Primary School in Bushbuck Ridge, Mpumalanga, by building four new ablution blocks. Before this upgrade, the school’s 1 178 students used outdated and unhygienic facilities.
The new, functional sanitation blocks promote health and dignity for both students and educators. This initiative was welcomed by the Mpumalanga
Department of Education and the school’s governing body. The school principal expressed gratitude for the support, noting that such improvements were made possible through corporate donations.
This project reflects the Foundation’s commitment to enhancing education and sanitation in underserved communities.
The Hollywood Foundation has made significant contributions to improving ablution facilities, particularly bathrooms, in South African communities. These initiatives are part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to enhancing
education, health, and dignity in under privileged areas. At Dumisani Secondary School the Foundation installed two prefab toilets for boys and girls to the value of R432 216.
A pioneering partnership with the Mpumalanga Department of Health saw the unveiling of a newly refurbished dental truck at Tintswalo District Hospital - a milestone in expanding access to essential dental care for remote communities in the province.
The official handover ceremony was led by Hollywood Foundation CSI Manager Mr. Mpho Dintwa and MEC for Health Ms. Sasekani Manzini alongside Tintswalo Provincial Hospital management.
The truck’s state-of-the-art facilities will support oral health services across
15 clinics and schools as part of the hospital’s outreach programmes—which were previously suspended due to the poor condition of the original mobile unit.
We are delighted to see the culmination of our efforts in enhancing healthcare accessibility for underserved regions. This project will ensure that community members receive a service that is a basic human right, said Mr. Dintwa.
Ms. Manzini expressed her appreciation, stating,Today we are grateful to receive a donation from the Hollywood Foundation of a renovated mobile dental clinic and equiment, which will enable us to deliver services and conduct outreach programmes that were previously limited due to budget constraints.
Sprinkling the Purple magic a bit closer to home, the Foundation contributed R150 000 to the Kathleen Voysey Clinic in the outer CBD suburb of Musgrave, Durban.
The clinic has been serving the community since 1998 and provides free treatment to unemployed, indigent, and
homeless adults, as well as elderly individuals for a range of ailments.
The funds from the Foundation were aimed at enabling the facility to be able to cover essential day-to-day resources, including medicine replenishment and hygiene products over a 12-month period.
The Foundation was proud to journey to the Eastern Cape to lend a hand to the Dabane Foundation’s invaluable work.
The organisation was founded by Lubabalo Jack, an amputee who defied the odds and now leads an inspiring life and strives to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people living with disabilities in South Africa.
We generously assisted the Foundation with R30 000, which was used to purchase essential equipment including spinealigning comfort cushions, walking sticks, and wheelchair parts. Additionally, the Foundation is working to create a grant that will cover the costs of prosthetics, enabling individuals to live normal, fulfilling lives with hope for a brighter future.
The Hollywood Foundation plays a significant role in supporting communities across South Africa by focusing on key areas such as education, entrepreneurship, and social development. The Foundation’s commitment to community welfare is evident through a range of initiatives that aim to empower individuals, uplift communities, and contribute to sustainable development.
We reserve a special place in our hearts for children, and many of our programmes prioritise their well-being and education.
That’s why our dedicated team works tirelessly to implement various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of countless children. Each year the Foundation has the privilege of contributing wonderful toys to children over Christmas, making their festive season a memorable and joyful experience.
This heartwarming initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Rotary Club, a like-minded organisation.
The Hollywood Group has nurtured a strong relationship with the Expro team over the years and has seen it grow exponentially. This has made the Foundation immensely proud to continue its support for Expro’s Toys for Joy lunches in Gauteng, KwaZulu- Natal as well as the Western Cape as a way to impact the lives of more and more children.
A trip furthest up North to Limpopo saw the Foundation visit the Serobi Maja Youth Development Centre to assist them with 20 laptops worth R119 980 as well as 12 sewing machines worth R85 000. The intervention was aimed at improving the project’s operational efficiency as well as equipping the youth with sewing and fashion design skills.
The centre was established by Mrs Raesetja Maja in 2018 after she realised that the listless and uninspired youth in her community needed urgent help. They provide unemployed young people with entrepreneurial skills, educational programmes, mental health support, tertiary registration assistance, employment application assistance, and Arts and cultural activities.
The Hollywood Foundation’s pledge to supporting communities saw our team travel to George in the Western Cape to aid in relief efforts following the tragic collapse of a multi-story building under construction. We contributed a grant of R30 000, along with food items valued at R10 000 for the dedicated Search & Rescue Teams working tirelessly on the scene.
The handover was part of a collaboration with Gift of the Givers to provide muchneeded assistance amid the disaster. Gift of the Givers offered vital support to the families of the victims who were being housed in a local hall.
Following the success of the inaugural Change in Action Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) Fair in 2023, the Foundation once again partnered with We are Durban and Gateway Theatre of Shopping to help NPOs strengthen their capacity and increase their visibility. The 2024 initiative culminated in a one-day NPO Fair at Gateway Theatre of Shopping where 20 NPOs from the Greater Durban area showcased their work.
The final participants were chosen from over 180 applications. Visitors in and around Gateway were encouraged to engage with the NPOs, learn about their missions, and discover ways to support them—or find help for those in need. In preparation for the fair, the Foundation provided each NPO with a brand marketing pack including a wall banner, table, tablecloth, two slimline banners, 10 branded shirts, and business cards. Four capacity-building workshops were also held to train the organisations and address some of the key challenges they face.
“We know that NPOs often prioritise serving their communities over marketing themselves, ” said Mpho Dintwa, CSI Manager at the Hollywood Foundation.
The public needs to know about the good work these organisations are doing, and presenting themselves professionally will help them gain support from the public and potential funders, Dintwa added.
Linda Morrison, Managing Director of We are Durban, highlighted that over 3 500 registered NPOs are working to support communities across eThekwini.
“A lack of awareness is preventing people from accessing the services these organisations provide—and stopping potential volunteers from connecting with causes they care about,” She said.
Food security is essential for building healthy, thriving communities, yet many South African families have little access to nutritious meals. The Foundation’s agricultural support initiatives empower communities to grow their own food, offering sustainable solutions to hunger and poverty.
We resource community gardens, school nutrition programmes, and farmer training initiatives. These missions are aimed at making sure our society has
enough individuals with the skills and resources needed to ensure long-term food security. By investing in small-scale farmers and providing access to tools, seeds, and knowledge, we’re not only helping to feed communities but also spurring on job creation and boosting local economies.
Our goal is to establish resilient food systems and supply chains that allow reliable access to fresh, nutritious food.

In an exciting new venture for the Foundation, we partnered with the Mpumalanga Growth Project in Lydenburg. The project, currently in its first phase, enables community members to attend an accredited skills development course designed to empower small-scale agricultural farmers.
This initiative not only provides essential business and development skillsbut is also helping the community build their selfsufficiency while encouraging sustainable economic growth within the region in addition to strengthening food security. By investing in people and their potential, we’re helping to build stronger, more resilient communities for the future.
Purple Hearts is more than an initiative— it’s a movement rooted in the belief that kindness transforms lives.
Through the programme, our Team Members are able to give back to causes they care about, building a lasting impact via their presence, involvement, and connections. When Team Members volunteer—whether it’s through offering their time, skills, or
support—they strengthen team bonds, and live out the Hollywood Group’s values. Purple Hearts empowers us to build relationships, inspire hope, and create an enduring legacy.
By giving from the heart, we don’t just support communities—we stand with them and help shape a better world, together.
Brave Purple Team Members always come out in numbers to save lives and support the SANBS Blood Drive Clinic’s campaigns throughout the year. 166 Team Members were able to donate blood across each event that was held. Knowing that every donation saves up to 3 lives, motivates us to keep supporting this worthwhile cause.
Hollywoodbets Team Support joined forces with the Foundation and BET Software to make a meaningful difference through the Annual Sanitary Towel Drive. The combined efforts from all teams enabled 300 sanitary
towel packets to be donated to the girls at Abbaquar San Royal, ensuring they have the essentials they need to stay confident and comfortable. Together, we’re making a lasting impact, one donation at a time.
The Annual Bra Drive in support of the Pink Drive has continued to grow and receive more support from the Purple Team.
A total of 70 bras were donated during Breast Cancer Awareness month and R1 805 was raised for Reach for Recovery. Lifting the spirits of women fighting breast cancer.
The Team was also able to keep up with their own health with 292 Team Members receiving physical breast exams.
292 Team Members also had their baseline medicals checked by Mediskills, while 141 Team Members received postawareness information & support from Reach for Recovery.
The Hollywood Foundation’s annual PinkDrive Race Day at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse is a heartfelt initiative dedicated to raising awareness and funds for breast cancer.
This event, held in partnership with the PinkDrive organisation, transforms the racecourse into a sea of pink, symbolising solidarity with those affected by breast cancer. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink attire, and the day features various activities, including on-track entertainment
and spot prizes for those best embodying the theme. The initiative is attended by Hollywood Group Team Members who honour the memories of their loved ones who succumbed to cancer or celebrate survivors’ victories over the disease.
The Hollywood Foundation’s involvement is not limited to financial contributions: the Foundation organises the event itself to support breast cancer awareness and early detection initiatives.
EASTER EGG DRIVE
THE TEAM RALLIED TO SPREAD SOME EGGS-TRA SPECIAL CHEER THROUGH THE EASTER EGG DRIVE!
Through the Purple Team’s donation, we were able to share the joy by handing out Easter eggs at Phikiswayo Primary School.
In celebration of International Nurse’s Day, the Purple Team showed some love to the dedicated nurses at City Hospital and gifted 200 of them with some thoughtful items in collaboration with BET Software.
This gesture was not only to show our support of the incredible work done by nurses but also served as a recognition of the immense contributions made by nursing and midwifery professionals across the country.
The Team’s annual Food for Thought Book Drive in celebration of World Book and Copyright Day grew impressively in 2024 with over 1 300 books collected and donated to the Denis Hurley Centre for their Street Lit Project.

Hollywoodbets continuously reinforces its dedication to raising awareness and promoting education on responsible gambling practices through the Hollywood Foundation.
This commitment is realised via the Responsible Gambling Programme in partnership with the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF)
In its second year, the collaboration continued to make significant strides in encouraging responsible gambling and empowering individuals to make informed choices while enjoying their favourite games.
This includes an initial assessment, a referral to the nearest treatment professional, a cognitive assessment
by the treatment professional, and an analysis and application of the treatment required for the callers who seek assistance.
The Foundation contributed to SARGF’s ‘Taking Risks Wisely’ school programme to combat underage gambling. In addition to the schools’ programme the Hollywood Foundation increased its sponsorship of professional counsellors from one to two in 2024. The counsellors are on standby daily to assist people who call in to the SARGF in need of help with their gambling related problems. The counsellors are funded as a way to promote responsible gambling within various communities by offering them free and confidential professional services.
Vuyisile Ngobese, Hollywood Foundation Public Relations Officer, noted that the outreach from SARGF’s National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP) is crucial for those who are problem gambling.
Through this partnership we have reached over 70 schools across all nine provinces in South Africa, it has also reached over 2 000 teachers benefiting over 75 000 learners.
The proactive response and commitment from Hollywoodbets and the Hollywood Foundation has provided us [SARGF] an opportunity to scale our reach to minors, not only to provide information through awareness but also provide psychotherapeutic intervention to minors impacted directly or indirectly by problem gambling.” said Sibongile SimelaneQuntana, SARGF Executive Director.
