Thisyearisaveryspecialoneaswecelebratea100yearsofinternational cricketatHollywoodbetsKingsmead.Iwouldliketoinviteeveryonetocome andspendthesespecialmomentswithusasweaimtosetthefoundationfor another100years.”

Astimecontinuestoflyby,weneedto makeeveryefforttostopeverynowand then,andreflectasacricketfamilyonall thosethatwehavelostalongthisjourney. Weneedtorememberthevaluethese cricketstalwartshavebroughttocricket andensurethatwecontinuetobuildon theircontribution.

Whenwereflectonthepastfinancialyear, weshouldallbeveryproudofthe incredibleresultsachievedonandoffthe fieldamidstthetryingtimesexperienced allaroundus.We,asaUnion,canbe particularlyproudofthefinancialsuccess andstabilityKZNCUhasbuiltoverthelast fewyears.

TheKZNCUConstitutionremainsour guidingdocument,andassuch deservesthenecessarytimeand inputtobereviewedandamended aftertheseparationoftheKZNInland districts.Sevenyearsago,KZNInland wasplacedundertheadministration ofKZNCU,andthroughahugeeffort byallinvolvedwehavemanagedto addressthepreviousconcernsto enableKZNInlandtoregaintheir independentaffiliatestatus,effective fromNovember2022.Wehavelaida soundfoundationwhichenabled themtoachievepromotiontodivision one.Wewishthemallthebest.

OurDolphinsmenmanagedtoaddanother trophytothecabinet,makingitfivetrophies inthelastsixyears.Itwasincrediblyspecialto seetheteamcometogetherafteraslowstart tothefour-daycampaign,ultimatelywinning thetrophyduringthefinalroundoffixtures.

Inamissiontoleveltheplayingfieldsand ensureaclearvisionatalllevels,allour teamsweresuccessfullyrebrandedunder theDolphinsbannerthepastseason.Our marketingandmediaplatformshavegrown andourstakeholdermanagementhas improvedatalmostalllevels.

OurDolphinswomencontinuedtheir exponentialgrowthinaspacewherethey nowchallengefortrophies.Theyfinished2nd inthe50overcompetitionand4th intheT20 competition.

Ourdistrictshavealladheredtothebasic requirementsandhavesuccessfully concludedtheircricketseasonsaswellas theirAGM’s.TheuMkhanyakudedistrictis stillnotfunctioning,andalongwithclub cricketremainssomeofourbiggest challenges.Intheclubspace,aperfect stormhasbeenbrewingforyears.Alackof supportforfacilitiesfrommunicipalities, agingadministratorsandgenerallifestyle changesintheyoungergenerationhaveall

TheHubdevelopmentprogramcontinuestomakea positivedifferenceindisadvantagedcommunitiesand isarguablytheflagshipprograminthisspace nationally.TheDepartmentofSports,ArtsandCulture hasbeenmagnificentwiththeircontinuedsupport. Sunfoilalsocontinuedtocreateopportunitiesthrough theannualSunfoiltournament,wherethefuture talentgetstheopportunitytomeetthescoutsfrom thevariousschools.

AlongwiththeHubdevelopmentprogram,theKFC Minicricketprogramcontinuestogrowourfootprint alloverthecoastalregions.Itremainsourfirst engagementopportunitywithfuturecricketplayers, coaches,administratorsandfans,andfulfillsavery importantrole.

Therehasbeenarenewedfocusonupliftingour cricketsupportservices,includingcoaching,umpiring, andscoring.Westillhavealongwaytogo,butalready somepositivesigns.

Financiallywehavemanagedtoachieveyetanother profitablefinancialyear,whilstincreasingouramateur footprintandimprovingourfacilities.Ourfinancial positionhasimprovedsignificantlyoverthepastfew yearsthroughaconstantincreaseinrevenueand bettermanagementofexpenses.Thisfinancial achievementisevenmoresignificantwhenone considersthedrasticincreaseinthecostofutilities, fuel,andbasicneedsoverthepastfewyears.

Ouriconichome,theHollywoodbetsKingsmead Stadium,iscelebrating100yearssincethefirst internationalmatchwashostedin1923.Noteven WorldWar2,abanfrominternationalparticipation ortherecentpandemiccouldstopthegrandold ladyfromreachingthismilestoneanditisa wonderfulopportunityandprivilegeforallofusto bearoundduringthisspecialcelebration.Asweall know,withgreatopportunitycomesgreat responsibility,aresponsibilitytoallthosethathave comebeforeusandallthosethatwillfollowus.We havetargetedsomeaudaciousplanstohonorthis achievement,somealreadycompleted,withstilla fewveryexcitingonestocome.

Therewereoutstandingperformancesacrosstheboard,anditwasINK/Ilembe’sAsandaGumawhofinishedastheBowlerof theTournamenttaking14wicketswhileReservoirHillsHub’sJoshRamlugumendedastheBatteroftheTournamentwith153 runsatanaverageof38.25includingatopscoreof81.

NaseemHanif,whoplayedforChatsworth/UmlaziU16side,pickedupthePlayeroftheTournamentawardashefinishedasthe onlyplayertoscoreahundred,making105offjust57balls.

SinceitsinceptioninSeptember2021,theDolphinsSchoolofExcellence(DSE)hascontinuedtotogrowfromstrengthto strengthreachingover1000scholarswith11tournaments,wintercampsandthehighperformanceprogramme.TheDSE remainscommittedtodevelopingastrongtalentcricketpipelinebyprovidingcompetitivetournamentsforvariousagegroups alongwithcoachingclinics,trainingcampsandindividualcoachingsessions.
