2021 SENIORS Can you believe you’re finally going to be a senior? Your year is finally here! Graduating from high school is a momentous occasion in your life and something that should be documented and celebrated! Your senior portraits are a huge part of that, and a responsibility that I don’t take lightly! My goal as your senior photographer is to make you feel special, unique, and beautiful in your senior portraits, and to capture your personality in each and every photo. I want you to come away from your session with a lasting memory of a great experience and gorgeous heirloom quality photographs to last a lifetime!
ABOUT HOLLY
It’s been awhile, but at one point I was a senior just like you! I graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 2002 and went on to Michigan Tech where I got my bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering. After college I moved to the Chicago suburbs for several years, worked at a medical device company and married my husband Adam, also an IMHS and MTU grad. We eventually decided that we missed living in the UP and moved back to the area in 2010. We live in Iron Mountain now with our little dog, Jackson. How does any of that have anything to do with photography? It doesn’t really. I discovered my love of photography kind of by accident. I’ve always been creative and spend a lot of time making things, which eventually turned into my other business, Bijou Lovely, where I design fabric and sewing patterns. That evolved into taking photos of the things I made, and has given me some amazing opportunities, including photographing several craft books! I decided to pursue a career in portrait photography in 2012, after realizing how much I enjoyed taking photos of people, especially high school seniors! It’s so fun to be able to make my seniors feel like a model on the day of their shoot, and provide them with portraits that they will have to treasure for a lifetime. I love being able to show my seniors how truly beautiful they are! Making others feel good about themselves is my favorite part of the job. My husband and I took a leap in 2015 and purchased a storefront in downtown Iron Mountain, which we spent a year renovating into my photography studio and retail storefront. It’s an old train depot built in 1889, and after countless hours spent working on it, we finally opened the doors in 2016. WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE YOUR SESSION - Please review the Senior Magazine with your parents, decide which session you want to book, and use the “Book Now!” button on my webpage to book your session. A $250 non-refundable deposit towards your session fee is required to secure your spot. Sessions are held in the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays. You’ll be able to choose your preferred session date when booking. Keep in mind that the earlier you book, the more likely you are to get your preferred session date, so book as soon as possible! There are limited session dates available. - Once your session is booked, I will do my best to coordinate our schedules and contact you with your official session date and time, and send you a contract to sign. Hair and makeup appointments (if applicable) will be booked with the salon when your session is booked as well. - You will receive a beautiful printed magazine in the mail with tons of tips and tricks for preparing for your session, along with details on the process and pricing to share with your parents. - Before your session I will send you a tailored questionnaire so I can get to know you better. Knowing what you like and what your style is helps me create a unique experience just for you! - About 1 week before your session, I will get in touch to discuss plans for your session. You’ll send me photos of your outfits so I can give you advice and plan locations that coordinate with what you’re wearing. If you have any location ideas let me know. I’m happy to hear your input! - A day or two before your session I’ll be in touch again to remind you of the session details and coordinate meeting locations and that type of thing! - In the event of inclement weather, I will be in touch the morning of your session to decide if we should proceed with the session or reschedule for a later date.
DURING YOUR SESSION - The remaining balance of your session fee is due at the beginning of your session. Make sure to have cash, a check, or credit card on hand so we can finalize payment! - We’ll meet at our location and get to know each other while I give you some posing tips to start off the session. You may be nervous, but you really don’t have to be – I’m very easy to get along with and will make you feel comfortable soon enough. - We’ll walk around a bit to different parts of the location and start taking photos. Be sure to bring someone with you to your session, whether it’s your mom, dad, or a friend! The more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be... so relax, it’s going to be fun, I promise! - No need to worry about how you’re going to pose, I will be instructing you along the way and after a little while I’m sure you will be loving it so much you will be happy to strike your own poses! - Bring all of your outfit changes with you, neatly pressed and preferably hanging or in a garment bag with all your accessories, shoes, and any props. Ladies, don’t forget to bring your essential make-up, lip gloss, a brush, and some hairspray just in case you need it. I do have accessories (jewelry, hats, etc.) that you are welcome to borrow as well! Water and a snack are always good to have on hand too just in case!
AFTER YOUR SESSION - Once the session is over, I will begin the process of editing the images from the session. I’ll select the best images and edit a couple favorites. I will post a sneak peek for you on social media so you don’t have to wait too long. I know you can’t wait to see the results! - I will be in contact to schedule your ordering session. Ordering sessions are typically scheduled between 3-4 weeks after your session. This is where you’ll see your images for the first time, so you don’t want to miss it! - During the ordering session we will look through your images to choose your favorites. I can help you choose what to order if you’re having trouble deciding. I will have samples of all prints and products including albums, image boxes, metal prints, and canvas art for you to look through. - You will be ordering your prints and products during the ordering session, and payment is due in full prior to your products being ordered. Please allow up to 4 weeks after your order is paid in full for your products to arrive.
Your ordering session is a 1 hour appointment where you will choose and order your senior portraits. We will begin by viewing a slideshow of all your photos. I will have printed proofs for you to look through and will guide you through choosing your favorites. Please review all print collections and a la carte pricing prior to coming in for your ordering session. It helps to have a general idea of what types of products and print sizes you will need for your house, office, family and friends. Please make sure all decision makers (senior, mom, dad, and/or grandparents for example) are present for the ordering session so you can all agree on what you’d like to order! It may seem overwhelming to view your photos and order them all in one day, but I will help guide you through the process and give you advice along the way! Clients usually have clear favorites and those are the photos you want to display in your homes and share with your friends and family. Payment for prints and products is due the day of your ordering session. I take cash, check, or credit cards and payment plans are available. Your order will be ready for pickup within 4 weeks of being paid in full.

I’ve spent lots of hours searching out amazing locations within the area so your portraits will be unique and fit your style and personality! If you’ve got your heart set on taking your senior portraits somewhere else, please contact me! I love exploring new places and finding gorgeous locations to photograph my clients! A travel fee will be charged for sessions over 15 miles from Iron Mountain.

When choosing a season for your senior session, think about the colors and backdrops you want in your photos. Spring brings tons of beautiful, colorful flowers. Summer means lots of green leaves, wildflowers and beaches. Fall of course brings the fall colors, which vary throughout the season. While it’s a little bit colder, winter sessions have gorgeous light and dreamy white, snowy backdrops!

WINTER You’ll also want to think about what types of clothes you love wearing the most. Do you like light layers and spring colors? Shorts and dresses and beachy summer outfits? HOW MUCH DO YOUR SESSIONS COST? The particular senior session and products that you select are entirely up to you. You are free to order as much or as little as you’d like when it comes to prints and products. Session fees start at $250, and print collections start at $375. You may purchase a la carte items or add additional items to any collection. The average client spends between $750 to $1500 on session fees and products combined.
WHAT DO YOUR SESSIONS INCLUDE?
Sessions include my time and expertise, as well as any advice on wardrobe that you’d like before your session (done via text or email, in-person pre-session consultations can be added for an additional charge). A one hour ordering session is also included. Depending on the session you choose you will have a minimum of 20-60 images to select from at your ordering session. All sessions also include a yearbook photo, to be delivered via email directly to your school yearbook team. Please note that no prints, proofs, products, or digital images are included in the session fee. These items must be purchased separately. You do not have to make any final decisions about purchasing prints until the day of your ordering session.
HOW MANY OUTFITS SHOULD I BRING? As many as you like! Each session has a number of outfits listed as a guideline. In general, we can typically photograph between 2-3 outfits per hour, however this is entirely dependent on you and how quickly you change! I encourage you to bring lots of options and I will assist you in selecting the best variety of looks to make your senior portrait session the best experience it can be. Don’t forget to bring shoes, jewelry, accessories, and the appropriate undergarments for each outfit!
I’M A LITTLE CAMERA SHY!
There is nothing to worry about, I promise! Adding hair and makeup is a great way to get your session off on the right foot and give you a confidence boost. I’ll give you some tips to look your best in front of the camera at the start of your session, and I’ll be helping you pose the entire time to make sure you’re looking great! We’ll start with the easy stuff until you get warmed up and feeling comfortable, and I bet by the end of the session you’ll be feeling much more confident and striking a pose or two of your own!
WILL YOU PHOTOSHOP MY IMAGES? To a certain extent, yes! Each and every picture you see on my website and social media has had subtle editing applied to it. I want you to feel confident and completely happy with your senior photos, so basic retouching is included on every photo you order. I believe you are beautiful in your own skin, however, so I prefer to keep the editing somewhat minimal to let your natural beauty shine! More extensive retouching such as braces removal can be done at an additional charge.
CAN I SHARE MY IMAGES ON FACEBOOK OR INSTAGRAM? Absolutely! You are welcome to use watermarked versions of my photos on social media, I just ask that you do not crop out my logo or alter the photo in any way. If you don’t mind tagging me in the post, that would be much appreciated!
WHEN WILL I SEE MY IMAGES? Your ordering session will be scheduled about 3-4 weeks after your session. This will be the first time you see your images, so you don’t want to miss it! I will do my best to post a sneak peek on social media within a few days of your session, as I know you’re excited to see them!
