Because of the types of cutting used to deepen and intensify the colour, most have ugly dark zones when seen face on. Garry Holloway rejects those diamonds.
Yellow diamonds have four main certified grades. The palest Fancy Light Yellow are about half the cost of colourless or white diamonds and Vivid Yellow or canary coloured cost around twice as much.

There is little difference in C1 to C6 prices.
Deeper C7 and C8 usually cost more but their darkness reduces their sparkle. Early on they were called Cognac until the French cognac makers objected. The champagne producers were smarter, they love the association!
Argyle Champagne to Chocolate brownish diamonds are very affordable. Argyle has produced almost all the world’s champagne diamonds for three decades. The mine in the far north of Western Australia was a huge open cut mine until 3 years ago. The new underground mine will close in 2021.
