BESPOKE FABRIC

Within the fabric department, customization is a cornerstone of the design process. Patterns, textures, and colorways can be adjusted to suit a precise palette, while scale and repeat may be refined to achieve perfect balance within a space. For projects requiring a more distinctive approach, entirely new fabrics can be conceived and woven to specification, combining selected fibers, weaves, and finishes into a truly original textile.

These capabilities allow designers to move beyond the boundaries of the standard collection, ensuring that each fabric, whether a subtle variation or a completely bespoke creation, reflects the individuality of the project it serves with the enduring promise of Holland & Sherry quality.

FABRIC LEVEL 02

SCOPE | Custom color and style modification to existing pattern

The client requested Holland & Sherry’s Baudelaire design in both a custom color, unique plaid line style and a heavier weight. The top image presents the original from the collection, while the bottom showcases the bespoke fabric created exclusively for the client.

FABRIC LEVEL 03

SCOPE | Fully custom fabric development for National Museum of Women in the Arts

Created exclusively for the National Museum of Women in the Arts, this fully bespoke jacquard was designed to meet the client’s specific vision to complement the Museum’s architectural details. Woven at the proper weight for wall mounting and engineered to meet local fire codes, the fabric takes inspiration from a decorative archway within the museum. The design team translated its scale and ornamentation into a textile that echoes the architectural detail with precision and artistry.

BESPOKE WALLCOVERING

The Holland & Sherry Wallcovering Studio is curated and agile. With small minimums, endless colors, and sophisticated techniques, the studio creates luxurious and durable bespoke papers. The creative team can take an idea and an application and quickly turn it into an original design through a myriad of innovative techniques.

The result is completely custom and completely unique.

The range of capabilities across the Holland & Sherry wallcovering collections allows the creative team to approach your custom projects with ease. The vertically integrated studio and team of experienced artists gives Holland & Sherry the flexibility to bring your vision to life. Whether it is a simple color modification or creating a sweeping mural installation, the wallpaper team does more than just handle custom projects, they love them. In most cases, the minimum order requirements remain the same, and there is no additional upcharge for customization, apart from a strikeoff fee.

WALLCOVERING

LEVEL 01

SCOPE | Custom color to an existing wallpaper for Kacy Ellis Design

Holland & Sherry’s Wallcovering Studio hand-mixes all paint colors in-house, allowing for effortless customization to match any desired shade. Clients may send a paint swatch, fabric sample, or other physical material, and the atelier will create a coordinating paint color with precision. Here, the client requested a custom color of Medina, an existing design, from the Holland & Sherry collection.

The vision for the wallpaper was to establish a striking backdrop within the dining niche. Its depth creates a sense of intimacy, while providing contrast that highlights the sculptural chandelier and circular mirror as focal points. By grounding the space and balancing the room’s lighter tones, the wallpaper introduces a refined sense of artistry and visual impact.

WALLCOVERING

LEVEL 02

SCOPE | Custom ground of existing Kurama Wallpaper for Martin Young Design

A bespoke grasscloth ground was chosen in place of the standard ground from the collection, offering a richer depth and more precise color to fulfill the client’s vision.

WALLCOVERING

LEVEL 03

SCOPE | Custom hand-painted crackle wallpaper for Chandra Lee Payne

A custom crackle-textured wallpaper was created to achieve a unique, artistic finish that adds depth and character while maintaining cost-effectiveness and durability. The final product was comprised of seven hand-painted layers.

BESPOKE EMBROIDERY

Every stitch reflects decades of expertise, proprietary techniques, and a devotion to detail that elevates embroidery into something truly couture. From subtle embellishments to fully bespoke designs, the atelier offers clients the opportunity to create embroidery that is as personal as it is exquisite — works of craftsmanship that become a signature layer within an interior.

EMBROIDERY

LEVEL 01

SCOPE | Custom color to an existing embroidery design for Cameron Drinkwater Interiors

For the master bedroom, Cameron Drinkwater Interiors selected a pattern from the Holland & Sherry Embroidery Atelier’s collection and customized the colors to create a headboard that resonates with the room’s design language. The chosen embroidery reflects the style and forms found throughout the space, achieving a cohesive balance.

The Atelier’s core collection was designed with this flexibility in mind — versatile patterns that can be tailored to harmonize seamlessly with any interior.

EMBROIDERY LEVEL 02

SCOPE | Custom scale and color of an existing design on the sofa and pillows for R. Hughes.

The Holland & Sherry Embroidery Atelier tailored every aspect of the Daria pattern to complement the curves of this sofa, demonstrating the collection’s ability to adapt to any furniture form. Motifs carried through to the cushions highlight both the versatility and the bespoke possibilities of the Atelier’s work.

EMBROIDERY

LEVEL 03

SCOPE | Fully custom embroidery on sofa for Eric Hilton Ltd.

For a luxury Park Avenue apartment, interior designer Eric Hilton created a fully custom sofa brought to life through the artistry of the Holland & Sherry Embroidery Atelier. The design, inspired by a 19th-century French vase and reinterpreted with a modern touch, was tailored to echo the sofa’s playful curves, uniting form and embellishment in perfect harmony.

BESPOKE RUGS

At Holland & Sherry, the art of customization extends seamlessly into the world of rugs. Each creation is a canvas for craftsmanship and imagination.

The custom rug program offers an extensive range of handmade qualities woven from the finest natural fibers. Starting from in-house collections, designs can be adapted in color, scale, knot quality, or material composition to suit any project or budget. Beyond adaptation, fully bespoke creations can be realized from sketches, artworks, or textile patterns, transformed into one-of-a-kind rugs through the collaboration of skilled artisans and the design team.

Every stage of the process is guided with care, ensuring each rug is refined until it perfectly reflects the vision of the space. These pieces are crafted not only to complement interiors but to endure as heirlooms — bespoke works that carry forward Holland & Sherry’s legacy of quality and artistry.

RUGS LEVEL 01

SCOPE | Custom color to an existing pattern for Mary Beth Wagner Interiors.

Inspired by a painting that hung in the room, the rug became a canvas where art and interior converged. The ribbon motif was reimagined in shades of soft pink, pulling directly from the artwork to establish a grounding hue. This delicate thread of color set the tone for a design that is both whimsical and eclectic, harmonizing with the spirit of the space while anchoring it in warmth and personality.

RUGS

LEVEL 02

SCOPE | Custom adaptation of an 11/11 Persian Knot rug to a Hand-Tufted construction for Kathleen Walsh Interiors.

Each Holland & Sherry rug can be customized to suit a project’s needs. Scale, fiber content, and construction may be modified to achieve the desired aesthetic or to meet specific budget or lead-time requirements. For this design, Tectonic was adapted from an 11/11 Persian Knot to a Hand-Tufted construction — a choice that provided a shorter lead time and more accessible price point. This adjustment, while maintaining the spirit of the original, naturally creates subtle variations in texture and appearance.

RUGS LEVEL 03

SCOPE

Fully custom rug design for Alex Dauley.

A completely bespoke rug, hand-tufted in wool and silk with carved detailing. Designed in collaboration with Alex Dauley, the piece was developed from concept to completion to embody the fluid landscape of life — its calm and movement, connection and continuity.
