Holland & Sherry challenged our in-house creatives and independent designers to push the boundaries of design and construction as testaments to the patterns that made British fashion so popular. Each product speaks to one another, no matter how different their application or distinct their design.

the plaid challenge

In Autumn of 2020, Holland & Sherry Interiors offered a chance for our partners in the interior design community to bring the plaid of their dreams to life for this collection. After dozens of intriguing designs were received, the work of three designers stood above the rest. Their transitional and inventive patterns were layered over a complimentary color palette to enhance and diversify Carnaby. We are proud to present the plaid winners: Muse of Mayfair, West End, and Kingly.

susan knof Knof Design

Susan Knof brings an astounding understanding of color, and talent for interior design to create the modern, freeform plaid Muse of Mayfair. She describes her design process as, “the balance and harmony of classic plaids combined with contemporary colors and proportions. Reflecting on traditional ways and moving forward in a reconsidered approach.” This fabric is a heavyweight, wool flannel double cloth suitable for upholstery as well as drapery.

Kelly Hurliman Design

Kelly Hurliman, an interior designer with a background in fashion, designed West End — the pattern is described by her as “a blanket style plaid, large in scale that you might find in a chic, statement-making fall coat and the perfect mix of classic style with a modern twist.” The heavyweight flannel features a subtle herringbone and playful colors that bring life to the neutral ground cloths.
