Kapiti Island is one of New Zealand's most important Nature Reserves, rich in conservation activity and history. The tour departs Wellington daily at 7.00am bound for Paraparaumu Beach, roughly a 1-hour drive North. ZEALANDIA ECO-SANCTUARY

ZEALANDIA by Day - Join a two hour exploration of Wellington’s eco-sanctuary lead by an expert guide. Tours depart daily at 10am, 11am and 1pm. Venture into the sanctuary to discovery the riches of New Zealand’s flora and fauna at its very best. See the critically endangered takahē – only 300 remain in New Zealand. See bird species that have been successfully reintroduced into the mainland by ZEALANDIA, e.g. the busy tīeke (saddleback), the bright hihi, kākā (bush parrot), kākāriki, tūī and bellbirds.

ZEALANDIA by Night - Walk through the gates of the predator-proof fence and hear the evening birdsong that has been absent on mainland New Zealand for more than a century. Explore the valley by torchlight as your guide leads you in search of many of the rare and endangered species and see those which only come out at night.
