Jérôme Lambert poursuit son ascension dans le groupe Richemont, dont il a été nommé CEO en septembre, après en avoir été le numéro deux pendant un an et le chef des opérations pour les services centraux et régionaux l’année précédente. Il avait dirigé Jaeger-LeCoultre depuis 2002 et Montblanc à partir de 2013.

Jérôme Lambert continues his rise within the Richemont group, of which he was appointed CEO in September, after a year serving as Chief Operating Officer and previously as Head of Operations responsible for central and regional services. Prior to that he had been Chief Executive Officer at Jaeger-LeCoultre between 2002 and 2013 and at Montblanc since 2013.

Patrick Pruniaux voit sa confiance et son rôle renforcés au sein de Kering qui lui a confié cet été la casquette de CEO de Girard-Perregaux. Professionnel de l’horlogerie au profil atypique, il dirigeait depuis un an Ulysse Nardin dont il reste le capitaine.

Kering has reinforced Patrick Pruniaux’s role and stature within the group by appointing him as CEO of Girard-Perregaux this summer. A watch industry professional with an atypical profile, he has been at the helm of Ulysse Nardin for the past year and will continue as such alongside his new responsibilities.

Stéphane Bianchi est le nouveau CEO de la division horlogère de LVMH (Hublot, TAG Heuer, Zenith) prenant les rênes de TAG Heuer avec à ses côtés Frédéric Arnault, directeur digital et de la stratégie.

Ancien d’Arthur Andersen, il était auparavant CEO d’Yves Rocher et de Petit Bateau, tout en étant administrateur du groupe suisse Maus.

Stéphane Bianchi has been appointed CEO of the LVMH Watch Division (Hublot, TAG Heuer, Zenith), taking the reins of TAG Heuer, where he will be backed by Strategy and Digital Director Frédéric Arnault. Bianchi has worked for Arthur Andersen and more recently served as CEO of Yves Rocher and Petit Bateau, as well as sitting on the board of the Swiss group Maus.

Aldo Magada has accepted the position of CEO of Anonimo, whose shareholder had acquired Vulcain last Spring and had already entrusted him with the reins in order to relaunch the brand. This cigar aficionado has acquired a wealth of experience in the watch industry with Richemont, Breitling, Badollet and recently at the head of Zenith.

François-Paul Journe a cédé une participation minoritaire de sa marque à Chanel, qui permet ainsi à Montres Journe SA et à sa manufacture en plein cœur de Genève de voir l’avenir avec sérénité. Cette entrée dans le capital des marques indépendantes n’est pas une première pour Chanel qui avait opéré ainsi avec Bell & Ross et Romain Gauthier.

François-Paul Journe has sold a minority stake in his brand to Chanel, thus enabling Montres Journe SA and its manufacturing facility in the heart of Geneva to look to the future with confidence. This entry into the capital of independent brands is not a first for Chanel, which had done so with Bell&Ross and Romain Gauthier.

Deremi Ajidahun devient le partenaire de GMT pour lancer en décembre 2018 GMT Africa par le biais d’une franchise en Afrique subsaharienne. Bien connu de l’horlogerie en tant que détaillant et distributeur de nombreuses marques de luxe au Nigeria, le fondateur de Hole 19 Luxury Group est actif depuis 20 ans dans la distribution, le luxe, le sport et l’édition.

Deremi Ajidahun is partnering GMT in launching GMT Africa in December 2018, via a franchise for sub-Saharan Africa. Well known in the watch industry as both retailer and distributor of numerous luxury brands in Nigeria, the founder of the Hole 19 Luxury Group has been active for 20 years in the field of distribution, luxury, sport and publishing.

Sous un cadran bleu à motif, dont la méthode d’exécution est logiquement un mystère, se dissimule une mécanique au fonctionnement hautement symbolique. A midi, un immense tourbillon de 20 mm de diamètre tourne sur son axe. Il est composé d’une cage désaxée, double arche bleuie qui contient le balancier et l’échappement, et d’une lune qui lui fait contrepoids. Leur ronde régule cette pièce de 46 mm, où les heures et minutes se lisent à 6 heures. Le reste, le fragment de météorite fixé au cadran, ceux de Mars et de la lune présents sur la carrure, le nom même de cette montre, renvoie également à l’espace, source d’inspiration récurrente pour l’imaginaire fertile de Louis Moinet.

Watchmaking is governed by the laws of physics, and particularly that of gravity which the tourbillon is designed to circumvent. Louis Moinet combines these concepts in a limited-edition watch offered in four variations, each issued in a series of eight. The Space Mystery models come with a white or pink gold case, either smooth or richly engraved like the one depicted here. Beneath a patterned blue dial, for which the manufacturing process quite logically remains a mystery, lies a mechanism with a highly symbolic mode of operation. A huge 20mm-diameter tourbillon spins on its axis at 12 o’clock. It is composed of an offset carriage, a double blue arch containing the balance and escapement, as well as a moon serving as a counterweight. Their regular rotation effectively regulates the operation of this 46mm model, on which the hours and minutes are displayed on a 6 o’clock subdial. The rest, the meteorite fragment secured to the dial, along with others ‘stellar’ fragments from Mars and the moon set into the caseband – and indeed the very name of this watch – are obvious references to the vast expanses of space, a recurrent source of inspiration for the ever-fertile imagination of Louis Moinet.

Creative madness Watchmaking UFOs are becoming a rarity, but Rebellion has not given up on creating standout, outsized, almost otherworldly timepieces. Weap-One is definitely that kind of object. It can be called a wristwatch in that it is delivered on a strap. Titanium fastenings serve to secure the case which takes the form of a sapphire and titanium tube. On request, Rebellion also supplies a desk-type or car dashboard fastening system, created by new partner Roland Iten : a designer of non-watchmaking objects strongly inspired by the principles of mechanical engineering. The cylinder houses a unique movement, driving hours and minutes displays on rollers fitted inside the tube. The model is framed on either side by two crowns – one for time-setting and one for winding – while a rotating regulating organ mounted on a dual-axis system sits proudly at the center of a broad empty space. Aside from this bi-axial tourbillon, the rest of the movement is concealed inside the solid parts of the cylinder, meaning compressed within a very small area. Once on the wrist, the Weap-One is huge, expressive, matchless and totally crazy in the finest sense of the term.

Connue pour ses montres à mouvement de manufacture squeletté, Armin Strom a pris le monde de l’horlogerie par surprise avec une montre comme il en a existé peu dans l’histoire. Sa Mirrored Force Resonance se base sur le principe connu de la résonance, mais avec une approche entièrement nouvelle. Ce phénomène physique consiste en une synchronisation naturelle de deux entités oscillatoires, en l’occurrence deux organes réglants horlogers complets. Au lieu de les laisser s’harmoniser par l’échange de vibrations, Armin Strom les a couplés à l’aide d’un ressort d’embrayage. Cette grande et fine pièce est rattachée à chacun des deux spiraux. Elle accélère et améliore leur synchronisation. A la clé, deux résultats. Developed in cooperation with this talented brand ambassador, the Big Bang Unico Golf is an automatic wristworn score card, a watchmaking trick shot. It is endowed with essential ergonomic attributes, the first of which is legibility. The score is displayed through three ultra-readable apertures, respectively named Total, Shot and Hole. The second is user friendliness. Two colored pushers are used to adjust the Hole and Shot counters, while the MHUB1580 caliber belonging to the Unico movement family does the rest and tots up the score. The zero-reset pusher at 4 o’clock serves to move on to the next 18-hole round. The third key asset is lightness. The Unico Golf has a 45mm diameter to ensure legibility, yet a golfer’s wrist is a key factor in play and any excessive weight would have been a handicap. Thanks to its case made of Texalium, a glass fiber and a ­ luminum composite, it weighs just 98 grams despite its 18mm thickness. Hence the last major attribute : comfort.
