¡No subestimemos el poder de un padre! Fui una madre soltera y habiendo sido criada por una, siempre me decía a mí misma “quien necesita a un papá, puedo hacerlo todo, mi mamá lo hizo”. Cierto. Mis respetos a las madres solteras que son padres y madres a la vez, podemos de hecho hacerlo todo, pero no neguemos el poder de un padre. Un padre tiene un enorme poder. Para bien o para mal, con su presencia o ausencia, acción o inacción, sea abusivo o no, tiene una profunda influencia en la vida de sus hijos.

Aunque algunos papás hoy día son despreocupados en torno a esta influencia –o ignorantes de ella-, hay muchos de ellos, maravillosos padres comprometidos haciendo lo mejor por sus familias, queriendo usar su influencia para bien. Aquellos que tienen un gran papá son muy afortunados, especialmente las mujeres que crecen con ellos. Las mujeres que crecen sin sus padres, a menudo batallan con sentimientos de baja autoestima y poco valor a sí mismas. Un padre es la primera relación que una hija tiene con un hombre y por ende les enseña cómo debe una mujer ser tratada. Sin embargo, si papá se va, la hija carece de ese modelo sano y con frecuencia busca llenar ese vacío de manera equivocada y a veces, se conforma con compañías masculinas que no valen la pena. En cuando a los hijos, el poder de un padre es como una fuerza magnética que les da identidad y dirección. Para todos aquellos padres que están ahí moldeando la vida de sus hijos, ¡Feliz día del padre! Let’s not deny Father Power Having been a single mom and raised by one, I always said to myself “who needs a dad, I can do it all, my mom did.” True. Hats off to single moms who are both mom and dad, we can in fact do it all, but let’s not deny the power of a father. A father has enormous power. For good or bad, by his presence or absence, action or inaction, whether abusive or nurturing, has a profound influence on the lives of his children. Though some dads today are careless with their father power - or ignorant of it-, there are many wonderful committed dads giving their best for their families, wanting to use their influence for good. Those that have a great dad are very lucky, especially for a woman growing up. Women who grow up without fathers often struggle with feelings of low self-esteem and unworthiness. A father is the first relationship a daughter has with a man and therefore teaches her how a woman should be treated. However, if Dad leaves, the daughter lacks that healthy model and often seeks to fill that void in the wrong ways and sometimes settle for unworthy male companions. In regards to sons, a father’s power is like “magnetic pull,” which gives them identity and direction. For those great fathers out there shaping the lives of children, Happy Father’s Day! You have a big job to do; you actually shape the world for better or worse… Check out our Celebrity Dads feature this month where we selected some exemplary Latino dads.

iempre ha habido cierto aura, cierto misterio y toque especial sobre un Penthouse (PH). Siempre hay rumores sobre un actor, actriz, estrella deportiva, empresario, gerente o cualquier individuo de renombre comprando un PH. Sí, se trata de qué tan cerca de las estrellas puedes llegar con vistas panorámicas que te quiten el aliento. Los Penthouses son realmente mansiones en el cielo con espacios más largos, techos más altos, balcones envolventes, terrazas gigantes, todo alentando el fuego que genera el deseo ardiente de los ricos y famosos de tener uno. Los Penthouses traen más dinero por metro cuadrado aun cuando no han sido remodelados. Por esto es que los constructores están dedicando ahora más y más pisos a los Penthouses.
como terrazas, chimenea, más pies cuadrados, ventanas de gran tamaño y numerosas suites principales, espacio para oficinas/refugio, cuarto de servicio, jacuzzi, piscina privada, cocinas de verano y más. Actualmente tengo PH disponibles en Hamptons South, Marina Palms, Echo, Williams Island, Millennium, y Turnberry Village. Un ejemplo es un extraordinario Penthouse doble de 6 cuartos/7.5 baños en Hampton’s South que abarca 6.525 pies cuadrados de espacios de vida suntuosa (un área total de 8.926 pies cuadrados), una suite principal de 1.200 pies cuadrados, así como un cuarto de servicio con una entrada privada. Con baños para “él” y para “ella” y una llamativa área de espera, esta suite principal es la definición de “retiro”.
Hay panorámicas intercostales y vistas directas al océano en todas partes. Dos cubiertas privadas adicionales arriba, para un total de 2400 pies cuadrados que transforman esta residencia en extraordinaria. Este palacio en el cielo está bien valorado en 4.599.999 dólares.

Un Penthouse tipo palacio en Manhattan ha roto el récord del más costoso nunca vendido en Nueva York; un comprador misterioso dejó caer la increíble cantidad de 100.470.000 dólares en el penthouse sobre Central Park en la 157 W. 57th St., de acuerdo con los registros de la ciudad. Un condo penthouse puede tener características exclusivas adicionales que no se consiguen en la mayoría de los apartamentos del edificio, tales como una entrada privada o un elevador, techos más altos y abovedados. ucho antes que cualquier actor latino soñara con pisar Hollywood, ahí estaba el joven Hector Elizondo, quien llegó directo de los escenarios de baile a las películas. Nadie puede olvidar al actor americano de origen Puertorriqueño en su corto pero significativo rol como el conserje cómplice en “Mujer Bonita”. Con un hijo que mantener y sin trabajo, Elizondo se abrió camino en Hollywood sin problemas. Una gran carrera en su natal México como comediante y productor de TV dejó atrás Eugenio Derbez para dejar una muy buena primera impresión en las grandes ligas cinematográficas. Irrumpió en 2013 con “No se aceptan devoluciones” como director, productor y actor. Recientemente fue honrado con una estrella en el Paseo de la Fama de Hollywood, un reconocimiento que dedicó a sus cinco pilares, sus 4 hijos y su esposa.

Otro mexicano en la lista de papás dedicados de Hollywood es Diego Luna, quien tuvo su gran oportunidad al ser incluido en la famosa “Y tu mamá también” en 2001. Luna tiene un hijo, Jerónimo y una hija, Fiona con la actriz mexicana Camila Sodi, de quién se separó en marzo de 2013. A pesar de ello, se ha mantenido como un padre activo y dedicado. ong before any Latino actor even imagined making a mark in Hollywood, there was Hector Elizondo, who went from dance stages to major motion film. No one can forget the Puerto Rican-American actor in his short but significant role as the accomplice concierge in the movie “Pretty Woman.” With a son to support and no job, Elizondo’s mindset was to conquer Hollywood.

With a great career back in his native country Mexico as a comedian and TV producer, Eugenio Derbez managed to leave a perfect first impression with movie industry big leagues. In 2013 he hit it big with “Instructions Not Included” as director, producer and actor. He recently was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame which he dedicated it to his “five pillars”-- his wife and 4 children. Another Mexican on the list of Hollywood’s most loved Latino dads is Diego Luna, who had his big break when he was cast in the critically acclaimed “Y tu mamá también (And Your Mother Too)” (2001). Luna had son Jerónimo and daughter, Fiona with Mexican actress Camila Sodi, and even when they separated on 2013, he always maintained his exemplary devoted father status. On our list of Spanish-speaking actors we have another full time daddy who has made it big in Hollywood. Javier Bardem, the first Spaniard to be nominated for an Oscar (2000), as well as the first Spanish actor to win an Academy Award. Married to superstar Penelope Cruz, they had two kids, a boy and a girl that they’ve kept out of the public eye.

With a long list of descendants, Puerto Rican New Yorker, Marc Anthony has made it clear that his priority would always be his family. Several divorces, tight schedules and a busy agenda made it difficult but not impossible. His first child, Ariana, now 22, paved the path for a big family, although he had them with different women, he is still a favorite Hollywood dad. Max and Emme, Jennifer Lopez’s twins are the latest on the Muñiz dynasty with a count of 5 children.
Paramount Pictures and Leonardo DiCaprio to develop Cuban-American film ‘The Corporation’ Rock The Moon Productions’ Film Division recently sold the rights to develop the film The Corporation to Paramount Pictures in partnership with DiCaprio’s Appian Way. The Corporation will star Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro as Cuban mob boss, Jose Miguel Battle Sr.
The Savage City, and the wildly popular bestseller Havana Nocturne. English has also written for the TV series, NYPD Blue. The nonfiction book will be published in winter 2017 by William Morrow. It is being referred to as a Cuban version of The Godfather and American Gangster.
The Corporation is the first deal for Appian Way since moving to Paramount. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson-Killoran will be producing alongside Tony Gonzalez and Jaydee Freixas as well as The Picture Company’s Andrew Rona and Alex Heinemann. David Matthews, a staff writer on HBO’s Vinyl and Boardwalk Empire, will write the screenplay.
“I am excited to be partnered with Paramount, Appian Way and The Picture Company,” said Rock The Moon’s Principal, Tony Gonzalez. “I cannot think of a better studio to be producing this film, after all Paramount is the studio that produced The Godfather. We are certain that The Corporation will be an authentic representation of one of the most unique mob related stories ever told.”
A bidding war had erupted between all the major Hollywood studios and producers over the rights to the book by best-selling author, T.J. English, The Corporation: An Epic Story of the Cuban-American Underworld, which Gonzalez and Freixas controlled. Paramount prevailed in a record setting deal handled by Paradigm.
Currently, Gonzalez and Freixas are in pre-production of a feature film titled Vandal. Inspired by true stories, Vandal is about the young leader of a legendary Miami graffiti crew who comes of age while battling a longtime rival. Gonzalez and Freixas will produce the film; Freixas co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Taegel and will also direct. Executive producers include legendary graffiti artist Kelly “Risk” Graval. Shooting is set to commence this summer in Miami, Florida.

Quizás podamos aprender una cosa o dos de ellos. ¡Hey, cualquier cosa es posible! Así que, ¿qué tienen en común un astrólogo internacionalmente conocido, un bien conocido urólogo/cirujano, un diseñador de joyas y antiguo hombre del ejército convertido en productor cinematográfico, y un actor? Bueno mis amigas, ¡más de lo que ustedes piensan! Le pregunté a estos hombres las mismas preguntas - ¿Te importa cómo luces en la playa y cuál es tu régimen alimenticio, si lo tienes, para
obtener ese cuerpo sexy de hombre listo para el verano? ¡Ay amigas!, como bien saben, yo soy admiradora número uno de los faciales. ¡Me encantan la mayoría de ellos! Hasta la fecha, mi preferido era el de oxígeno pero confieso que hace un par de semanas probé por primera vez el renombrado “Silk Peel,” conocido también como “Diamond Facial.” Me interesó bastante el “Silk peel” después de la última entrega de los Premios Oscar. Los medios norteamericanos hablaron mucho sobre el nuevo facial favorito de las estrellas en Hollywood. Escuché que varias artistas como Tina Fey, Gwyneth Paltrow y las hermanas Olsen siempre se hacen el famoso “Silk Peel” para deslumbrar en las alfombras rojas. Decidí probar por mi misma y saber de qué se trataba tanto alboroto en los medios. El “silk peel” es conocido como el facial diamante también. La verdad es que siempre soy un poco renuente a creer en tratamientos innovadores con tanta publicidad en los medios. Her award winning travel blog, Travel-break.net focuses on adventure, culture, motivation and lifestyle which she ties together with new media including Snapchat (username TravelBreak). “I’ve always wanted to share my story as a first-generation Latina-American ...how I started my own business just like my grand-mother and father and how it’s allowed me to travel the world,” she says. Her grandmother started her own house-keeping business when she moved to the U.S. from Mexico, and her dad started his own contracting company. She was the first person in her family to go to a four-year university and attributes her success to her family’s example. “If they could accomplish so much, with such little opportunities, how much more could I take on with so many resources? I could take on the world! So I did,” she says. Chosen as the cover of Hola Latinos Magazine this month for being an inspiring Latina, those that know Stephanie will definitely agree that her perseverance, passion and enthusiasm are pretty relentless. Her travel experiences include shark diving in the Bahamas, hanggliding in Rio, bungee jumping in New Zealand, Running with the Bulls in Pamplona, playing with elephants in Thailand, Las Vegas laser tag in private jet planes and scouting out Abu Dhabi. Stephanie Be has been featured by Harper’s Bazaar, CNN, Mashable, Forbes, and the International Business Times and is a speaker on Digital Marketing. Last year, she won the international blogging competition #Sharelstria. “This has not come without sacrifice. I sold my car and traded an apartment to live fully nomadically... taking up to seven flights per week, traveling mostly solo to create and share travel stories,” she says.

abiendo vivido en el Caribe, he sido afortunada de experimentar, de primera mano, las celebraciones del carnaval. Son toda una explosión de música, comida, baile y fabulosos trajes que van con esos días. ¡La belleza en ello es que los locales ponen su corazón y alma en esta gran celebración de vida! Para apreciar realmente el carnaval, debes entender la cultura y tradición detrás de todo y luego sabrás por qué esta fiesta es un evento épico cultural. Diversión desmedida es lo que experimenté durante tres días de conciertos y fiestas callejeras masivas en el Carnaval Bahamas Junkanoo. ¡La fiesta nunca paró! Pero sí sabemos cuándo empezó. Fue en la Gran Bahamas en Abril y continuó en Nassau en Mayo con fabulosas festividades, buena vibra y una increíblemente alta energía espiritual en la gente.
No se trata este de un evento único. Es en cambio una colección de celebraciones. El término Junkanoo surgió del líder Ghanés, Jhon Connu, un legendario príncipe de África del oeste. Otros sospechan que viene del francés “gens inconnus” que se traduce en “desconocido” o “persona enmascarada”. En este día, los esclavos de las Bahamas podían dejar las plantaciones y celebrar la temporada navideña con su familia y amigos. Desde la emancipación, la parada del Junkanoo ha sido celebrada en otras épocas del año. Por los últimos dos años, Las Bahamas la ha celebrado también en Abril-Mayo.

An eruption of energy, bright colors, music and a grand celebration of life
H
aving lived in the Caribbean, I was fortunate enough to experience some of the liveliest carnival celebrations on different islands. For those that haven’t had the carnival experience, it’s definitely something to add to your bucket list. It’s an explosion of music, food, dance and fabulous costumes and the festivities go on for days. The beauty of it is the passion that goes into it all. Islanders truly pour their heart and soul into this grand celebration of life! To really appreciate it, you must first understand the culture behind it. For the most part, carnival is a celebration of freedom from slavery in which locals honor their cultural heritage and tradition. My most recent travel expedition was Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival, three days of non-stop concerts and a massive street party, a destination experience of unrivaled fun. The party never stopped! It first started in Grand Bahamas in April and continued in Nassau in May with fabulous festivities, great positive vibes and amazing high energy spirited people. Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival, in its second year, is not a single event: it is a collection of celebrations, concerts, cultural shows and street parades that pull from all aspects of Bahamian culture and heritage. So what is Junkanoo? The word junkanoo is said to be derived from a Ghanaian leader, John Connu, a legendary West African Prince, who outwitted the English and became a local hero. Others say it comes from the French ‘gens inconnus,’ which translates as ‘unknown’ or ‘masked people’. So the story goes: On this day, Bahamian slaves were able to leave plantations and celebrate the Christmas season with family and friends. This was a chance to let loose with song and dance in these troubled times. During the early years of the festival, Junkanoo parade participants wore unusual masks and walked on stilts. Since emancipation, Junkanoo has been celebrated at other times of the year as well – such as New Years and in June. For the past two years, Bahamas has added a Carnival that takes place in April-May. The original music of junkanoo in the Bahamas was played with goombay goatskin drums, cowbells, conch shell horns [later replaced by bicycle horns], and whistles.

Youth Culture Fest A junior parade and cultural show, showing an appreciation for indigenous materials and Bahamian culture. Grand Bahamas Weekend A prelude to Music Masters Nassau, the top 25 semifinalists from the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival Song Competition compete for a spot in the finals. Taino Beach is transformed into a cultural village, showcasing the culinary and artistic talents of Grand Bahamians. Music Masters The biggest concert of the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival season features top Bahamian and international artists. Featured this year were Rake and Scrape superstar D Mac; along with Bahamian band Visage, Trinidadian Soca queen Destra; Grammy award winning hip hop artist Wyclef Jean; Jamaican Reggae artist Tarrus Riley and Cuban hit maker, Laritza. Performing alongside the Bahamian and international artists were the top ten finalists in the Music Masters Song Competition.
Rush-Outs Rhythmic sound of a drum starts tapping out a tempo in the evening. This rhythm builds into an intoxicating beat calling everyone out into the streets in what they call a “rush out.” Performers appear in extravagant costumes and burst into dancing in a parade. Road Fever -- A Soul Stirring Parade Road Fever is the original Bahamian masquerade street party that closes out the annual Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival. This costume parade incorporates masses of people “Shaking up the Streets”. Long before the ‘rushout’, Junkanoo dance troupes - groups of up to 1,000 - will have been busy rehearsing their dazzling routines for months. The musicians will have perfected their rhythms and they perform day and night on goatskin drums, cowbells, whistles, brass instruments and horns, and the imaginative costume designers will have worked non-stop to weave their own special magical costume. As the Junkanoo parade moves through the streets of downtown Nassau, the energy of the non-stop dancing squads and the beat of the music inspire the vast crowds of supporters and spectators to start moving! It’s an incredible experience of the most decked-out costumes, which can be spotted from miles away. I literally was whirled through droves of people in a circle of feathers and had to just go with the flow in this five mile dance procession. At the end, judges award cash prizes for the best music, best costume and best overall group presentation. Behind the Scenes: I actually visited the Junkanoo World Museum & Arts Center and the museum where I experienced Drumming, cowbelling, and looked through a costume expo where I got the inside scoop on carnival preparations—and even wore a Bob Marley worn native headdress! Costume-makers literally spend about four and a half months making costumes from crepe paper, cardboard, feathers and a sprinkling of their own magical touches. Bahamians long-await the opportunity to strip down, and strap into carefully crafted mobile artwork. Competition is so fierce that groups have a “shack” (base camp) where they practice their routines every day, but once on the road, everyone becomes part of the road fever and one big group.

Accommodations Beautifully situated on a 1,000-foot-stretch of spectacular beachfront, I stayed at Meliá Nassau Beach All-Inclusive, which was a great place to unwind and relax and rest my feet after all that dancing… The beaches in the Bahamas are just breathtaking…and there are some exquisite fine dining restaurants that feature fresh caught local seafood like Cafe Matisse and Luciano’s of Chicago that I had a chance to enjoy. I’m definitely signing up for the next Junkanoo Carnival….keep you posted when the time gets closer on all the festivities…

illboard celebró sus Latin Music Awards de este año en Miami, y hubo una gama de superestrellas que terminaron como los grandes ganadores de la noche. El artista urbano Nicky Jam y uno de los españoles más sonados Enrique Iglesias fueron los grandes ganadores de la noche, llevándose a casa 7 premios cada uno, incluyendo “Canción Latina del año”, “Canción Airplay del año“, “Canción digital del año”, “Canción streaming del año” y “Canción rítmica latina del año”, todo con la fuerza de su colaboración en “El Perdón”. A este dueto poderoso le siguieron en premiación, Romeo Santos, quien logró alzarse con 5 premios, incluyendo algunos de los más importantes de la noche, tales como Artista y compositor del año. ¿El toque especial de la noche? Un show de tres horas cuyo corte temático giró en torno a duetos y unidad entre los artistas latinos, donde la estrella mexicana Juan Gabriel fue honrado y además actuó con Paty Cantú, Juanes y Alejandro Fernández, quien por cierto se llevó el premio Salón de la Fama en reconocimiento a su extensa carrera. ¡Felicitaciones a todos!
Latin Billboards 2016: an unforgettable affair! The most popular celebrities gathered at the BankUnited Center, University of Miami for the biggest party celebrating Latin music. The night’s biggest surprise was Mexican legend Juan Gabriel who was honored with the honorary Billboard Star Award. As the Billboard Awards celebrated its annual Latin Music Awards, only a handful of superstars ended up as big winners. Urban artist Nicky Jam and Enrique Iglesias rocked the awards, taking home seven each, including Hot Latin Song of the Year, Airplay Song of the Year, Digital Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year, and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year, all thanks to their hit song “El Perdón.” Behind that powerful duo was Romeo Santos, who took home five awards including Artist and Songwriter of the year. The theme of the night was duets and unity among Latinos. Mexican star Juan Gabriel was honored and performed with Paty Cantú, Juanes; Alejandro Fernandez, took home a Hall of Fame Award in recognition of his extensive career.

CUIDA DE TU CEREBRO ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que hiciste algo para apoyar la salud de tu cerebro? No es sorprendente darse cuenta de que nunca dedicamos tiempo para planear lo que podemos hacer para mantener nuestro cerebro saludable, oxigenado, hidratado y joven. El cerebro es un órgano vital, fundamental para el sistema nervioso central, es la sede principal de la conciencia, la memoria, el razonamiento, el entendimiento y el intelecto. Nuestro pensamiento es un proceso complejo de respuestas neuromagnéticas, neuroeléctricas y bioquímicas. Como cualquier otro órgano en nuestro cuerpo, el cerebro está expuesto a la toxicidad y desgaste. When was the last time you did something to support the health of your brain? It is not surprising to realize that we never dedicate time to plan what we can do to keep our brains healthy, oxygenated, hydrated and youthful. The brain is a vital organ, fundamental to the central nervous system, it is the main seat of consciousness, memory, reasoning, understanding and intellect. It processes thought through complex neuromagnetic, neuroelectrical and biochemical responses. Like any other organ in our body, the brain is exposed to toxicity, degeneration and decay. Early symptoms of this manifest when we start forgetting things, when we experience an inadequate response to challenges or when we notice our decision-making process has become sluggish in our decision-making process. Ayurveda promotes a specific rasayana (rejuvenation therapy) that benefits the brain and its processes. Smarttress tiene dentro una tecnología llamada Lover Detection System, la cual está compuesta por 24 sensores ultrasónicos capaces de captar movimiento sospechoso en la cama y de informar a la persona engañada a través de una aplicación móvil. Cada vez que suceda una actividad sospechosa en su cama, el usuario recibirá una alerta en su smartphone que le permitirá saber a ciencia cierta que está sucediendo, Lover Detection System tiene una medición exacta de sus sensores que le permiten diferenciar por ejemplo los movimientos de un niño saltando en la cama, la mascota reposando o un acto sexual. El software es capaz de conocer la posición en tiempo real de cada sensor y así mostrar un mapa 3D del colchón para conocer exactamente qué zona del Smarttress está recibiendo mayor presión”, explicó su creador el ingeniero Iván Miranda. Now your Mattress will tell it all By: Gabriela Rosas If you suspect your partner is cheating on you in your own bed, you can now have an ally snitch who will inform you of any illegal activity in the boudoir—the Smarttress intelligent mattress. Smarttress has a technology called Lover Detection System, which consists of 24 ultrasonic sensors capable of capturing suspicious movement in bed and will inform the person deceived through a mobile application. Each time it finds suspicious activity in your bed, it sends out an alert on your smartphone. The Lover Detection System has an accurate sensor that can distinguish for example the movements of a child jumping on the bed, a pet climbing or even a sexual act. The software knows in real time the position of each sensor and evens shows a 3D map of the mattress that pinpoints what Smarttress area is getting more pressure,” said its creator engineer Ivan Miranda.The mattress comes in different sizes. The cheapest is around $ 1,750 and measures 135 × 190 centimeters, while the most expensive of US $ 2,300 has measures 150 x 200 centimeters. Piecing Together Life Lessons with Legos Sometimes you find profound things in the simplicity of a favorite childhood toy. I was on Facebook recently and came across a picture of a friend. He was playing with his son, piecing together colorful bits of plastic, but really piecing together some pretty big life lessons. When I asked him about his love of LEGO® systems, he sang the praises of these colorful little blocks. “We love Legos for many reasons,” he said. “First, it helps with structure and procedure: following a plan, building something according to the instructions and feeling accomplished when you get the final result. I actually had the opportunity to try out professional DJ mixing and had a guitar lesson provided by Fender as part of the brand’s “The Sound of Your Stay” in-room music amenity program. Later, an “unplugged” live music set by local talent rocked us at the Hard Rock Orlando.

Father’s Day is approaching. I know I was a very good Doggie Daddy, however many animals such as the lion and the grizzly bear are not. I’m a Maltese the dog of a million kisses so I’m nurturing, other dogs are not always so lovey dovey. If your dog has puppies keep the daddy doggie away for a while until the Mommy lets you know it is ok. Puppies are vulnerable they are born blind and deaf and are all about feeding. Mommy is concerned with just their safety and care and will be aggressive if she has to be to protect her pups. You should always supervise as the Daddy Doggie gets acquainted with is puppies. The Emperor Penguin is one of the most dedicated papas. After the female lays the egg she has to return to the ocean to feed for two months to regain her nutrition. The Papa Penguin then has the responsibility of keeping the egg warm through the freezing Antarctic winter. He spends two months holding the egg between the tops of his feet and his brooding pouch, without feeding through blizzards. If he moves too suddenly or the egg becomes exposed the chick will die. Papa Penguin’s dedication and balance ensures the survival of a new baby penguin. I hope he gets maternity leave. Wag wag. Talk about maternity leave did you know that the Seahorse Senior carries the eggs? Many Father’s in the wild play a variety of roles that you would never imagine. Humans are so primitive. Wolf Fathers are fabulous fathers. They are very attentive, monogamous and protective. Wolf Fathers are far better than human men today, they live with their she-wolves for life. The wolf pack is old fashioned it is Mom, Dad and the Wolfies without the station wagon. The Wolf Father
provides fresh meat and takes on the role of a real dad playing mentoring to integrate the pup into the pack. It’s amazing how people like Sarah Palin think it’s so cool to shoot them dead from a helicopter. Flamingo Father’s believe in equal parenting. Both Mommy and Daddy take turns incubating the egg by sitting on top of the nest mount. During the incubation time both bird parents gently lift and turn the egg with their bill. Once the chick begins to hatch, the flamingo parents become excited as they stand around, look at the egg, and vocalize as they welcome their baby into the world. Flamingos are very attentive good parents. You won’t catch them flying the coop. There are many more Dad’s in the Wild who have wild warm and fuzzy fathering traits. Like frogs for example they carry all their froggie babies in their mouth to protect from predators until they are able to take a flying leap. Happy Father’s Day and remember to spay and neuter we have too many FATHERLESS PETS AT THE POUND. I would love a Father’s Day gift from all my readers.
