Every four years Iowa becomes a national focal point leading up to the presidential elections.

This year wasn’t any different and we saw many of the presidential candidates reach out to the Latino communities in Iowa.

Hola Iowa was present at many of these occasions.

LULAC National Scholarship Program

Aproximadamente $50,000 en becas fue otorgado por todo el estado este año, muy buen trabajo LULAC Iowa.

Un total de 5 concilios de Iowa participaron en el programa este año. El Concilio de LULAC 10 Davenport, IA, Concilio 304, Fort Madison, IA, Concilio 306, West Des Moines, IA, Concilio 307, Des Moines, IA, y Concilio 317, Columbus Junction, IA. La LNESC dono un match del 60% a los fondos locales recaudados.

Approximately $50,000 in scholarships was awarded throughout the state this year, great job LULAC Iowa!

A total of 5 Iowa Councils participated in the program this year. LULAC Council 10 Davenport, IA., Council 304, Fort Madison, IA, Council 306, West Des Moines, IA, Council 307, West Des Moines, IA, & LULAC Council 317, Columbus Junction, IA. The LNESC match to local funds raised was 60%.

XVIII Conferencia Latinx de Iowa Imágenes de la Cumbre de Desarrollo de Liderazgo Juvenil de Latinx en la XVIII Conferencia Latinx de Iowa, el 7 de octubre de 2016 en Iowa Memorial Union en Iowa City.

El Día Mundial de SIDA en los Quad Cities El Día Mundial de SIDA del 2016 es la oportunidad de reducir infecciones de VIH nuevas, reducir muertes relacionadas con SIDA y eliminar el estigma del VIH creando conciencia para la prevención, tratamiento, cuidado y servicios de apoyo para aquellos quienes están en riesgo de estar infectados o aquellos que ya están viviendo con VIH/SIDA. El Jueves 1 de diciembre del 2016, The Project of Quad Cities junto con la Universidad de

St. Ambrose y Departamento de Salud del Condado de Scott van a presentar una mini feria de salud en el Centro Rogalski de la Universidad de St. Ambrose de las 10 AM hasta las 2 PM. Habrá comida, análisis de VIH gratis, información sobre PrEP, régimen de pastillas diario que puede ayudar a la gente a mantenerse VIH negativo, e información ofrecida por The Project of the Quad Cities y otras organizaciones del área.

On Thursday, December 1st, 2016, The Project of the Quad Cities along with St. Ambrose University and Scott County Health Department will be by hosting a mini-health fair at St. Ambrose University in the Rogalski Center

from 10AM to 2PM. There will be food, free HIV testing, information on PrEP, a daily pill regimen that can help people remain HIVnegative, and information about the services provided by The Project of the Quad Cities and other area organizations.
