The Best of New York City Plus the Amenities of a College Campus

Choosing a law school means choosing your new home for the next three years. Our campus offers the unique experience of being close to New York City, the hub of the world’s legal profession, yet removed from the daily distractions of the big city.

25 240 15 MILES TO ACRE MINUTES TO MANHATTAN CAMPUS THE BEACH

OUR CAMPUS

Few, if any, law schools can match the combination of our green, 240-acre campus and easy access to New York City. The campus provides all the amenities of a leading university and several that are unique to Hofstra, such as a bird sanctuary and a nationally recognized arboretum.

HOUSING

While many students choose to live off campus, on-campus housing is available for law students and other Hofstra graduate students in the Graduate Residence Hall. The living units are organized as suites with separate bedrooms surrounding a common room and a kitchenette.

DINING

Hofstra’s dining program offers 18 restaurant locations, including Gavel+Spoon, Hofstra Law’s 24/7 café, and a diverse array of culinary options, including organic foods, sushi, an omelet station, Mexican, wraps, kosher meals and a Red Mango.

SPORTS AND RECREATION

Hofstra University is home to 17 Division I sports teams. In addition to cheering on the Hofstra Pride teams, you can enjoy a workout in the beautifully redesigned, state-of-the-art David S. Mack Fitness Center, which offers 63 cardio pieces, 50+ Cybex strength training pieces, Cycle Studio, Yoga/Pilates Studio, Aerobics Studio, Indoor track, 6 basketball hoops and more.

GET INVOLVED

Participation in one of our more than 30 student organizations helps foster the social skills you need as an aspiring attorney as you connect with kindred spirits, perform public service and develop leadership skills.

LONG ISLAND HAS IT ALL

Whether you want to go for a jog on the Long Beach boardwalk, tee off on the challenging Bethpage Black golf course, shop at one of the country’s largest malls, or visit the Gold Coast mansions made famous by The Great Gatsby, there is something for everyone to do on Long Island.

AT THE CENTER OF LONG ISLAND GOVERNMENT

During the school year or during the summer, you have the opportunity to work in one of the nine Nassau County courts. Most of the courts, including the Supreme Court, are only a short drive from campus.

TOP LAW FIRMS IN OUR BACKYARD

Our proximity to the top law firms on Long Island, many of which are filled with Hofstra Law alumni, offers you another opportunity for internships and externships throughout your law school experience.

NYC IS JUST 25 MILES AWAY

New York is the hub of the nation’s legal profession. In just a short train ride, you can be working at the courthouse downtown, attending a Hofstra Law networking event at a firm overlooking Bryant Park, or just meeting a friend for drinks in the Village. Whether it’s for work or fun, our students take full advantage of everything New York City has to offer.

LAUNCH YOUR CAREER HERE

Many Hofstra Law students go on to work in New York City after graduation. From the 2017 graduating class, 90% of employed students work in New York state.

NETWORK WITH ALUMNI

The National Association for Law Placement (NALP) defines a law school’s employment rate as the number of graduates employed divided by the number of graduates whose employment status is known. For NALP purposes, Hofstra Law’s employment rate of 91.6 percent is calculated by dividing the number of employed graduates, 174, by the number of graduates whose employment status was known, 190. The total number of graduates in the Class of 2016 was 198. Other organizations and publications, such as U.S. News & World Report, the Princeton Review and Barron’s, each define a law school’s employment rate and percentage differently.

The economy, including the legal economy, is constantly changing, and employment for past classes is not an accurate predictor of employment for future classes. In addition, a law degree from Hofstra Law or any other law school is not a guarantee of employment in the legal field.
