Few, if any, law schools can match the combination of our green, 240-acre campus and easy access to New York City. The campus provides all the amenities of a leading university and several that are unique to Hofstra, such as a bird sanctuary and a nationally recognized arboretum.
Whether you want to go for a jog on the Long Beach boardwalk, tee off on the challenging Bethpage Black golf course, shop at one of the country’s largest malls, or visit the Gold Coast mansions made famous by The Great Gatsby, there is something for everyone to do on Long Island.
New York is the hub of the nation’s legal profession. In just a short train ride, you can be working at the courthouse downtown, attending a Hofstra Law networking event at a firm overlooking Bryant Park, or just meeting a friend for drinks in the Village. Whether it’s for work or fun, our students take full advantage of everything New York City has to offer.
HOUSING While many students choose to live off campus, on-campus housing is available for law students and other Hofstra graduate students in the Graduate Residence Hall and the Colonial Square Plymouth House. The living units are organized as suites with separate bedrooms surrounding a common room and a kitchenette.
DINING Hofstra’s dining program offers 18 restaurant locations and a diverse array of culinary options, including organic foods, sushi, an omelet station, Mexican, wraps, kosher meals and a Red Mango.
SPORTS AND RECREATION Hofstra University is home to 17 Division I sports teams. In addition to cheering on the Hofstra Pride teams, you can enjoy a workout in the beautifully redesigned, state-of-the-art David S. The National Association for Law Placement (NALP) defines a law school’s employment rate as the number of graduates employed divided by the number of graduates whose employment status is known. For NALP purposes, Hofstra Law’s employment rate of 91.6 percent is calculated by dividing the number of employed graduates, 174, by the number of graduates whose employment status was known, 190. The total number of graduates in the Class of 2016 was 198. Other organizations and publications, such as U.S. News & World Report, the Princeton Review and Barron’s, each define a law school’s employment rate and percentage differently.
