Gioia Bales Associate Dean and Professor of Finance Frank G. Zarb School of Business, Hofstra University Before joining the Hofstra University faculty, Dean Bales was a senior research analyst in the bond market research department of Salomon Brothers, Inc. For more than eight years, she authored extensive research reports on the domestic and international bond, money and foreign exchange markets that were distributed to institutional investors worldwide. More recently, Dean Bales was a consultant in the global fixed-income research department at Merrill Lynch in Manhattan. She was a regular contributor to its biweekly publication Currency & Bond Market Trends, focusing on credit spreads throughout the global bond market. Other research projects at Merrill Lynch include an analysis of the global interest rate swap market, the size and structure of the world bond market, and global debt holdings.

Dean Bales holds a BS magna cum laude from Syracuse University and an MBA in finance (with distinction) from Hofstra University.

Luciano Centanni, CPA Partner-in-Charge, Long Island Market and Director of International Business Center Grant Thornton LLP Luciano Centanni is the partner-in-charge of the Long Island Market for Grant Thornton. Mr. Centanni is also the director of the firm’s International Business Center (IBC) for Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa (EIMEA).

Mr. Centanni has been a client service partner for over 14 years and has more than 24 years of public accounting experience. Although his experience spans a variety of industries, he has significant experience serving international companies in the apparel, retail, publishing, media, manufacturing, distribution, professional services, and various high-tech industries, including software and IT consulting services. Mr. Centanni has served companies, both public and private, that range from small, entrepreneurial companies, to large multi-national corporations.

Mr. Centanni received a BBA from City University of New York’s Bernard M. Baruch College. In 2006 he was recognized by Long Island Business News as one of Long Island’s 40 rising stars under the age of 40.

Thomas Kehoe President, K & B Seafood, Inc. Thomas Kehoe is a partner in several companies that actively export. K & B Seafood, Inc. is a seafood exporter and ships regularly to Asia. The company also shipped several million dollars annually to Russia prior to sanctions. Seaflight Logistics, Inc. is a licensed freight forwarder specializing in perishables with extensive air and ocean experience.

North Harbor Trading Company, an export management company set up to handle non-seafood shipments, assists other New York companies in exporting to international markets.

A former elected official on Long Island, Mr. Kehoe also has extensive experience in lobbying at the state and federal level on a variety of industry and trade issues. Widely recognized as an exporting expert, he has served on numerous industry boards nationally, as well as industry boards here in New York.

Millan Mulraine Deputy Head of US Research & Strategy, TD Securities Millan Mulraine is deputy head of US Research & Strategy at TD Securities, based in New York. He directs the group’s economic and financial market research and strategy. Mr. Mulraine’s duties include the analysis of the US economy and financial markets, including the Federal Reserve activity, as well as responsibility for high-frequency economic data forecasting for TD Securities. He is a frequent commentator in the media, and is regularly quoted in the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

Mr. Mulraine was educated at the University of Toronto, where he earned a PhD in economics, specializing in international economics.

Mr. Mulraine also holds an MSc Economics degree from the University of Warwick in England.

Dr. Anoop Rai Professor of Finance Frank G. Zarb School of Business, Hofstra University Dr. Anoop Rai has been a professor of finance at Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business for over 25 years and teaches corporate finance, financial institutions and international finance. His current research interest centers on international banking and financial markets. His articles have been published in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Futures Markets, Financial Management and Journal of Risk and Insurance, among others.

Dr. Rai serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Multinational Financial Management and is on the advisory board of the SSRN’s History of Finance eJournal. He is the author of the textbook Basics of International Business (2nd edition), 2014. Dr. Rai has taught at several universities overseas as a visiting professor and conducted corporate training sessions both in the United States and overseas.

Dr. Rai received an MBA from the University of Notre Dame in 1980 and a PhD in international business from the Kelly School at Indiana University in 1987.

Susan Sadocha Director, Long Island US Export Assistance Center US Department of Commerce Susan Sadocha, director of the US Department of Commerce’s Long Island US Export Assistance Center, has spent the majority of her career in public service within the international trade and development arena. Before joining the Department of Commerce, Ms. Sadocha held various policy and programmatic positions within USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Washington, DC, and managed several portfolios which sought to increase US agricultural exports. A native of the South Shore of Long Island, in 2011 Ms. Sadocha moved to the New York metropolitan area and began consulting in international trade, as well as held a position at AFS-USA, a leader in intercultural exchange programs.

Ms. Sadocha holds an MA in international relations from Boston University, and a BA in international studies from Long Island University.

Ken Schachter Corporate Reporter, Newsday Ken Schachter is the corporate reporter for Newsday, the nation’s ninth-largest newspaper. The Brooklyn native also has worked at Newsday Westchester, The Miami Herald, The Jerusalem Post, Red Herring, Long Island Business News and the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.

Mr. Schachter is a graduate of the University of Oregon and the master’s program of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. He lives in Port Washington.
