Notes: The first full day of operations at the station was November 10, 2016. ‘Normals’ data are for Farmingdale Republic Airport (KFRG). Summary: In keeping up with the theme of 2016, November 2016 featured above-normal temperatures at Hofstra University. However, some relief to the drought was provided, primarily by three large rainfall events, one on the 15th, and two on consecutive days to end the month. Temperature: The average temperature for the month was 47.6° F, 3.1° above the normal of 44.5°. The maximum observed temperature was 63.9° on the 18th, and the minimum temperature was 34.7° on the 21st. Precipitation: 4.11” of precipitation fell during the month, outpacing the normal monthly precipitation of 3.64”. The maximum daily precipitation was 1.61” on the 29th. Other Data: The highest wind gust recorded by the station was 42 miles per hour on the 20th. No freeze (temperatures below 32°) occurred during the month. Typically, the first freeze of the season in Central Nassau County occurs during mid-to-late November, meaning that the anomalously-long growing season will continue into December.
