22 interventions for children with special needs within various National Institute of Mental Health grants at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Gilbert supervises doctoral students in the techniques of Applied Behavior Analysis and functional behavioral assessments and objective reviews for diagnosis along the Autism Spectrum, such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). Dr. Gilbert's current research interests include exploring the phenotypic expression of children along the Autism Spectrum to further delineate early-onset predictive behaviors of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Her research interests include prelinguistic interventions, social skills training, behavior and language interventions, parent training, and stress management.

Karen Mackler, Ph.D. Dr. Mackler will serve as a supervisor to students as they complete practicum and internship experiences throughout the progression of the Psy.D. program. In addition, she is an Adjunct Assistant Professor who will teach students what they need to know in a very practical sense in their school placements. Dr. Mackler is a certified school psychologist as well as an NYS licensed psychologist. She has worked for 35 years in public schools, with a great deal of experience with nonpublic schools as well. Dr. Mackler holds an administrative certificate, which has afforded her the opportunity to serve as director of an afterschool program for students on the spectrum to interact with typically developing peers for many years. She is an advocate for Mental Wellness and Social-Emotional Learning, which integrates well into the current climate in the schools which are struggling to manage the trauma associated with the health pandemic.
