You can’t campaign on the academic side or on Zoom Classes. President and Vice President Nominations there is only one ticket running so there will not be a debate but there will be a forum ish style event. Quorum Set at B. New Business a. Leaders for Leaders Presentations i. Associate Senator Rachel Navarro 1. What is the FAQ Initiative and how to help with the transition that freshmen have going into college? Rachel has worked with Senator Congdon and the Academic Affairs committee. She also joined the DAV(e) subcommittee as well as had meetings with SAC. This is going to impact freshmen by making them stay happy and confident while coming to Hofstra University, and know more about the resources at Hofstra. We are working on a draft with SAC and hoping that it will be ready for the Class of 2025. What L4L has taught her was to make sure she put herself out there and help get out of her comfort zone. ii. Associate Senator Lila Campbell 1. Working with the equity and inclusion committee. Assisted with the planning with the town hall and helping with the Day of Understanding however it will get pushed to next semester. Working with How To Hofstra and was very excited to work on this which is a guide to future Hofstra Freshman. This will be shown during Welcome Week in the future years to come as well. Working with the DREAM club on campus and hopefully heading a “lingo bingo” session for How to Hofstra. iii. Associate Senator Mac Sykes 1. Was tasked to work on the Hofstra TikTok Initiative to expand on what was previously posted from last year. Every few weeks we are tasked to post videos for popular trends that are trending currently and have the SGA hop on that bandwagon this shows and has an impact on the
Hofstra Community. We hope that the SGA TikTok continues to grow in the next upcoming years and we hope to grow closer as friends iv. Associate Senator Nicole Kerr 1. How working with programming has changed this year with COVID so working with social Distancing, limited capacity, and incentivization towards the students of our age want that free shirt or food. They want something for their time while coming to our events. Stuff that has helped was having sign ups for the students and being able to use larger rooms. Skills that have been learned during this program would be Problem Solving, Interactions virtually, and creative thinking v. Associate Senator Nicole Zacchia 1. Currently working with the club Resources committee. It was great being able to interact with students in and out of SGA. There were some goals that we have decided to do. The 3 main ones were Club outreach, Reallocate Office Spaces, and Review the constitution. The reasons we did these things create solutions and have a better understanding on how to work with clubs to get a better understanding. Also to reiterate to other clubs to make sure they do not need any help and if they do to be a voice for the students to help. b. S.A.2020.85.004 i. With this action I do not want to diminish any roles to the students and how there is some favoritism. We want to make sure you do not need to be on the programming committee. 1. Chair Paturzo have you thought of this for when in person programming is allowed and if you have thought of this position. a. All the work should be done by the committee and not the chair 2. Chair Germaine moves for a 10 minute moderated caucus a. Motion Second b. By a vote of 20-4-0 c. Motion Passed i. Senator Kaludis going further I feel that it could be better by not having it ii. Chair Aquino asks a question to Chair Paturzo about this role 1. This role holds this person accountable for the committee and a point person as well iii. Senator Schanck 1. I haven't done a lot of this role this semester and I do not want it to be favoritism towards becoming the programming chair iv. Senator Congdon 1. There also aren’t that many people that sit on programming for the full year and it also shows favoritism on the committee

Senator Hotaling 1. It is very hard to get people in SGA or for people in particular vi. Chair Connolly-Sisk 1. I disagree with this and how this isn’t favoritism because it does set a precedent of favoritism, and it sets other committee members at a disadvantage if they wanted to run for chair vii. Senator DeBiso 1. We almost had a Deputy on Club Resources but we decided that it wasn’t a good idea viii. Chair Paturzo 1. It is the same as just being a senator as we have an ethics and conduct and archivist, and social chair it is very important to hone in on the people that want to participate. ix. Chair O’Brien 1. As not having a deputy I could see how it could be beneficial x. Senator Walker 1. This is going to beneficial xi. Chair Connolly-Sisk moves for a straw poll to see if this would pass d. A. We have a good amount of people running this semester, so let’s keep on pushing the Election Dates! B. Chair Colon and Communications have already sent out the student body-wide email regarding elections, so let’s thank them for their hard work! C. If you’re uncertain about campaigning guidelines, refer to the Elections section in our Policy Series! President & VP Ticket A. Since this year we have an uncontested ticket, we will not need to organize a debate. B. However, following guidelines expressed in our Policy Series, the uncontested ticket must hold one (1) event where the ticket presents their campaign goals to the general Student Government Association constituency prior to the voting days--will be reaching out to the uncontested ticket this week to plan that date. Voting A. Voting will open next Wednesday, April 28th, and will close on Thursday, April 29th at 5:00pm. This is the same day as turnover, as well as the Elections Bash. I will be sending out follow-up information about this on Sunday. B. Keep spreading the word about elections this week. After campaigning ends on Tuesday, you can still promote the election, you just can’t tell people to vote for you. C. Worked with Sev over the weekend to organize and confirm Candidate Eligibility, just need a follow-up so that I can confirm the accurate amount of positions we can fill. Miscellaneous A. What type of citation are you using(APA, MLA, Chicago)? I have lots of questions and comments Maxie 2. Will the Implementation Liaison be one person? Or a group of people? And if it's one person, how can we be sure that whoever is picked will be able to cover all the responsibilities that the position entails? - Andrew 3. I think that going over wording would be helpful because there seems to be a bit of complex wording that isn’t necessarily needed. I also have a few questions about the what the proposal is supposed to look like overall simply because I’m not familiar with the formatting - Katie 4. Use headers and subheadings to indicate sections more clearly. Also utilize tables to your advantage (for timelines, costs, etc). - Bernice 5. You could possibly suggest an SGA rep as the “implementation liaison”. Not sure how receptive admin will be to hiring and creating a whole new role. - Bernice C. Feedback from meeting with Sev & Bernice: 1. Add a summary page which briefly outlines a problem statement (i.e, what is Hofstra currently not doing for sustainability), your suggestions, and any other relevant information 2. Cost breakdown is important. Be sure to include this as well as departments/personnel that this would concern. 3. Be over prepared - if this specific issue cannot be attainable, what info can we take from this proposal to achieve something that is? 4.
