f. S.A.2025.90.007
i. Presented by Secretary Justin Danek
ii. Chief Justice Ramos: Judicial Panel was not consulted regarding this senatorial action. It would be difficult to implement with new justices and it would have been nice if you consulted the Judicial Panel beforehand. JPanel wants to be more involved but we need time to discuss this decision.
iii. Senator Rades moves for a 3 minute unmoderated caucus to discuss SA.2025.90.007
1. Motion seconded
2. Motion passes
iv. Senator Rades: At this point, the office hour policy is already in the constitution. This isn’t making any changes, just making the documents match.
v. Senator Pierre: They are saying this wasn’t discussed with them and it should have been.
vi. Chief Justice Ramos: I think we would need two weeks to make sure justices were able to comply.
vii. Chair Ahmad: It is the responsibility of each person to read the policy and know what is expected of their position. At info sessions, we were telling them that justices completed office hours. It would be false advertising to not enforce it.
viii. Motion to extend unmoderated caucus by 3 minutes
1. Motion seconded
2. Motion passes
ix. Chair Iacobovici: J-panel is always saying they want to be more involved and this is the way for that to happen.
x. Chief Justice Ramos: I completely understand. I wish we were consulted before the Senate saw this.
xi. Senator Pierre: J-Panel should have been consulted, and they need more time to review.
xii. Chair Dzaveluri: If they say they need two weeks, we should give them the two weeks. I don’t see the problem.
xiii. Motion to extend the unmoderated caucus
xiv. Senator Finkelstein: I think we should give them the two weeks.
xv. Senator Rades: I want to say again no matter what happens tonight, Justices are still required to do office hours as per the constitution.
xvi. Senator Yari: I don’t see the issue with just waiting two weeks.
xvii. Senator Black: What are the options? Can we table this for another week?
xviii. Senator Finkelstein moves to end the unmoderated caucus.
1. Motion seconded
2. Motion passes
xix. Senator Pierre moves to table SA.2025.90.007 for two weeks.
1. Motion seconded
2. Motion passes
g. Club Recognition Presentation- Culinary Club
i. Culinary Club Presentation
1. Senator Yari: I founded this club last semester, our mission is to unite food enthusiasts of all levels, discover new dishes, and participate in dishes and social events. Some of our meetings we
had a Ratatouille event, a mocktail event, and tabling, and a vitamin talk. On the groupme we currently have 230 members and on the Instagram we currently have 350 followers. This semester we meet Mondays at common hour, last semester we met Tuesdays at 5:30pm. Upcoming events include Hofstra’s Hell Kitchen, Monsters and Munchies, Tea and Snacks, Thanksgiving foods, and gingerbread decorating.
2. Matt: We had culinary workshops and demos, club cookbook, nutrition and wellness talks, community outreach, guest speaker series, and much more. Making food costs money, we shouldn’t try to skimp out on club meetings.
3. Senator Yari: With SGA funding we have a lot of extra ideas including electric pots, more expenses to bring in guests, and recipes for healthy dishes. Comments include members saying it is so fun, everyone loves to eat different foods, and people have met a lot of friends.
a. Senator Green: In addition to SGA funding, do you guys want to do fundraising events?
i. Senator Yari: We like national holiday dishes, so we would like to honor those national holidays. We also have a fundraising chair to help with those events.
4. Deliberation:
a. Chair Jacob: We were interviewing freshmen yesterday, and one of them mentioned that they wanted to go to culinary club. They are genuinely interested in participating in the club and its events. The budget they are asking for is very valid.
b. Comptroller Skeldon: Culinary club is currently a pride organization with access to up to 5% of the external budget. They are a great club doing a lot of great things.
c. Senator Yoni: This is a really promising club teaching an important skill to a lot of young adults that are going to be living on their own soon, it is important to support them.
