SCREENING AND DISCUSSION OF
KISS THE GROUND
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21, 2021 · 6:30-9:30 p.m. Virtual Event Join the Department of Geology, Environment and Sustainability Studies for a viewing of the award-winning film Kiss the Ground followed by a discussion on regenerative agriculture and local sustainable farming practices on Long Island with Caroline Fanning of Restoration Farm. Restoration Farm was founded by husband and wife team Daniel Holmes and Caroline Fanning, both native Long Islanders. The seven-acre farm is leased from Nassau County at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Restoration Farm is firmly committed to sustainable agriculture. "We don’t use herbicides, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers—ever! Instead, we focus on building healthy soil through cover cropping, mulching, and minimal tillage. We labor in full view of the customers we serve and are proud to provide Long Islanders with a high standard of quality food."
