BODY, HOME, WORLD: Transnational LGBTQ+ Journeys

Our second event in this launch-series features a series of short documentaries that connect the experiences of two families thousands of miles apart. Members of the South Asian diaspora connect to their home countries through complex transnational and digital networks often creating solidarities of interest. Queer narratives flow through these networks too. To begin a conversation about the uniqueness of each experience and to discuss the value of shared narratives we have invited participants from New York, New Delhi, San Francisco, and Mumbai. A discussion and Q&A will be held after the premiere featuring: Aashish Kumar, Kumar, Producer/Director, Body, Home, World Anugyan Nag, Asst. Prof., MCRC, Jamia Milia Islamia Central Univ. Aruna Desei, Desei, Founding Member, Sweekar-The Rainbow Parents of India Ashish Sawhny, Sawhny, Filmmaker and Actor Vaibhav Jahn, Jahn, Public Health Specialist and Community Organizer Moderated by: Charmaine Hussain, Board Member of Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies, a national organization dedicated to support, education and advocacy for families of LGBTQ+ South Asians.
