The Poet and the Piper: Readings by Professor Connie Roberts

Description:
Award winning Irish poet and Hofstra Creative Writing Professor Connie Roberts will read from Little Witness-- a collection of poetry inspired by her experiences growing up in an orphanage in Ireland. She will be joined by two musical friends— uilleann piper Jerry O’Sullivan and singer Niamh Hyland.

Reel Ireland Film Series: Mise Éire (I am Ireland)

Description:
In preparation for the centennial of the Easter Rising, we proudly present Mise Eire--an exciting chronology of the events leading up to the revolution that began the war of independence. The film uses actual archival footage of the Rising as well as vignettes of the leaders of the rising. Irish language with English subtitles. Dr. Maureen Murphy will provide an historic introduction to the film and facilitate a discussion after.
