How to Complete a Housing Application

Spring 2026

Access your Housing Application

Access your Housing Application by logging onto my.Hofstra.edu Click on “my apps” and click on the Housing Icon.

Completing a Housing Application

Select the term for which you are applying for.

Application Process

To begin the Housing Application, click on “Start Application”.

To save your progress, click on the “Save and Continue” button.

Application Process

Student information displayed is based on information the University has on file.

To make any changes to your student information, click on the link indicated.

Students who require an ADA accessible room must Type the word “Yes” or “No”. In order to be assigned an accessible room, you must be registered with and your accommodation approved by the  Student Access Services Office. Click on “Save and Continue”.

Living Learning Communities (LLC’s)

• Students interested in residing in a Living-Learning community (LLC), should enter and confirm housing preferences by clicking on the “ADD” button and then selecting a LLC preference from the drop down menu.

• Students not interested in residing in a LLC housing option, should select “Not Interested” from the drop down menu.

Room Preferences

1. Students can select their Location and Room Type Preference from the drop down menu and click on “Add Preference”. Be sure to list these

It is very important to list your Location and your Room type preference in priority order even if you are planning on participating in the Room Selection Process and selecting your own room.

This is in the event if the Office of Residence Life needs to assign a student to housing for the upcoming year due to the following reasons:

 Student cannot fill a room/suite to capacity.(i.e. a high double room needs 2 occupants, a 4 person suite needs 4 occupants, etc.)

 Student has a completed housing application however fails to participate in room selection during the designated times.

Roommate Matching Questionnaire

• This is a student standard profile. Students will use this page to setup their profile types which will be used for matching with a potential roommate (Completing this page is extremely important is you are looking to be paired with random roommate) AND when making housing assignments the housing system and/or the Office of Residence Life will be aware of a students additional preferences.

Roommate Selection

Students can search for “Roommates by Details”(MUST have the student’s Hofstra ID#) or search for “Roommates by Profiles”(prospective roommates that appear, will be based off of the Roommate Matching Questionnaire).

Only students, who have a completed housing application, and do not already have a housing assignment can be added to a group. Students will only see other students of the same biological sex.

Housing Contract

By checking the box, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the housing contract. Click on “Save and Continue.” Note that the housing contract is a oneyear contractual agreement.

Your housing agreement is for a full academic year and there is a financial penalty for breaking the contract.

Students are highly encouraged to purchase rental insurance for their personal property as the University DOES not reimburse for lost or damaged items.
