HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY
MAJOR IN ITALIAN AN 8-SEMESTER STUDY GRID
This is simply an example of what 8 semesters might look like for incoming First-Year students who place in level 003 in the language placement test. If you place in level 001 or 002 of the language, or declare your major later, or are a Transfer Student, your grid will look considerably different. Your choices may vary. Some ITAL/ITLT/ITST(Italian in Translation; Italian Studies) courses fulfill more than one requirement such as a Literature, Art Appreciation, or Interdisciplinary Studies, Writing Instensive Core Distribution, thus opening up more space. Up to 6 credits of Core Distribution credits may be taken during Study Abroad. Students are encouraged to study abroad. Italian majors can take up to but no more than 12 s.h. of ITAL/ITLT/ITST courses towards their major while studying abroad, and they can take up to but no more than 6 s.h. of ITAL/ITLT/ITST courses towards their minor while studying abroad..
